DISCLAIMER: Please refrain from making uneducated assumptions about an individual's diagnosis. You are allowed to express concern about whether you believe someone is faking or not, however, please refrain from leaving harmful comments regarding them. Autism is a spectrum. Everyone is different and exhibits different traits. You may or may not relate to these individuals and that is fine but do not assume that because you have traits that differ from them, they are not autistic! If an individual is proven to be faking or has a negative reputation in the community, please feel free to respond to this post or private message me on my socials!
Also for clarification: Autism as well as any other neurodiversity represented in these videos are on a spectrum! Everyone is different! Do not use these videos as a means of diagnosing yourself or even questioning your diagnosis! Everyone will have different experiences and struggles! You are perfect the way you are and do not define yourself because a lot of autistic individuals don't like a certain food but you do, or you like wearing socks compared to those who don't! Be yourself and accept that we are all different!

“The quiet kid is one of us! That’s what’s up” - I have been there so many times as an adult, and I’m not gonna lie, it felt good to be welcomed into a group. At the time, I didn’t recognize it as masking, and now I’m like…oh. I was trying so hard, it breaks my heart. And he did a superb job of acting - he nails that combination of confidence and quiet desperation. Love that channel.

As a late diagnosed autistic person who's felt like a freak for existing my entire life, I love watching these videos so much. It's made me feel so... normal. In a way I've truly never felt.
I AM normal. Because being autistic is normal.

The Delayed Processing is so relatable. Until I watched these videos I didn’t even realize asking someone to repeat something and then stopping them in the middle because I finally processed it was weird and/or annoying (My parents are both diagnosed with ADHD so I guess I just grew up with it) I guess all the people I talk to are super nice which is both good and bad because they were understanding but I’m just now realizing I was annoying people.

Perk of having small kids who're also neurodivergent - I can watch them instead of making eyecontact with anyone I am with and EVERYONE THINKS IT IS AMAZING! I get told I'm super attentive to my kids and whilst yes, it's also equally so I do not have to look at you l. 😂

(8:50) Genuinely had me taken aback so bad it feels like I got hit with a brick. The best way for me to listen and process things is to look down with a blank expression, just like that clip.
People think I'm ignoring them when I'm listening the most. If I even look at your nose or mouth, my brain simply can't process anything you're saying. I've felt so bad about it, but it's because of how bad people have made me feel about it.

If you can lightly tweak that idle animation, it’ll go a long way toward making people think you’re a better listener than you are. Slight head tilt, slight frown, make your eyebrows look puzzled (I lower one eyebrow but ymmv). It reads as intense concentration on their words and makes them feel really important- the key to interacting with any NT.

Hey guys wanna hear this embarrassing story cool it was this year btw (2023 actually but whatever) anyways so It was a school camp, and everyone was playing murder in the dark or some shit and I was reading in my bedroom (which I shared with two girls) and the book reminded me of home and my mum and I started crying and they came in to hide so I panicked and threw the blanket over my head and they all went “oh shit ->>> trying to sleep!!” And I went “no I’m just trying not to let you guys see me cry” and they went “uhhh!!” And left except for this ukranian student who came to the school that year and this other girl I knew and they comforted me and we played uno

I hate the "neurodivergent people descended from hunters" tiktok so much. Like there are A LOT of disorders and neurotypes that fall into "neurodivergent", and hunters weren't a genotype or a brain difference, they were people who hunted. It feels weird to say that neurodivergents should be proud to "descend" from hunters, when not every neurodivergence is born into someone and hunters were just people. Neurodivergent people ARE PEOPLE. We shouldn't try to convicne ourselves otherwise with fake science, that still feels dehumanizing.
Like if neurodivergent people were hunters, then were all neurotypicals gathers? It's not logical to make a connection to a society that literally had to hunt to survive to *some* neurodivergent peoples' experiences.
People with PTSD are neurodivergent and can be hypersensitive to their environments and have hyper focus on things that remind them of traumatic events. That doesn't mean they are descendants of hunter as soon as they got traumatized. It feels like the video is for people with adhd or autism, but they use "neurodivergency" instead of saying that. There are other types of neurodivergency outside of adhd and autism.
It feels like misinformation and it feels harmful to push to neurodivergent people, especially neurodivergent teens. It's not a cool fact, it's just fake lol
Also, I'm autistic, so maybe I misunderstood the tone or meaning of the video? But it feels like that creator of that video was being serious.

Yeah, people are serious about this theory. They are looking for some evolutionary explanation for autism being in and staying in the genome, so they go looking for a story in which autistic traits would be adaptive. That take on evolution is a little simplistic, lots of traits survive in the population without being specifically adaptive. Genetics and evolution are messy and if resource competition isn't too severe, lots of variation will stay in the genetic pool as long as it isn't maladaptive. The whole genetic story of autism isn't mapped out yet, and doesn't look to be simple. That makes it hard for evolutionary pressure to curtail it even if it were to become maladaptive under some circumstances. Nature is full of accidental variety, we're probably just more of the same.

There would be NO way I could be a hunter. I have terrible aim and it would be so stressful. But gathering? Once I know what berries are safe, I could remember them easily, and just take my time picking berries and such. It's not about neurodivergence, it's about preference and skill.

About neurodivergents being hunters vs. gatherers... this has so many more implications!! Is this why autism was considered a "hypermasculine brain"? Because, as a woman, I felt like I had a "more masculine brain" before I had ANY IDEA I was autistic!! And in those traditional societies, woman would have stayed together, with the babies, in a group, gathering!! This is weird for me tho, because I love gardening and foraging. I am a mother of 3, and in touch with my femininity , though I still feel more masculine in certain ways. And I'm not crazy about the idea of killing something. But I also have some great focus & aim!!

Just a PSA: while you can brush your teeth at times other than morning and night, you should try to brush your teeth after you are done eating for the day. If you get hungry and eat again, you should brush your teeth again for maximum cavity prevention effect. If you let the bacteria in your mouth have food residue to munch on all night, you are more likely to get cavities. Just want everyone to be aware because I made the mistake of brushing my teeth before eating the last thing before bed

Wait, I'm constantly pausing and rewinding shows and films because I didn't get the dialogue right or missed one word or generally wasn't paying enough attention, is that a trait of autism ? I was thinking more of OCD because that shit really messes with me, I can watch a 45 min episode in nearly two hours because of it. Also for some reason and it depends on the days but I can have some repetitive hand gestures in between the pauses, something I do while reading as well, as if by doing these I was controlling the quality of my attention to the show/film/book.
