Honestly mods shouldn’t be considered a bad thing, so long as it’s nothing that will break other peoples games I see nothing wrong with it

I definitely think you should keep your showcases limited to standard graphics. I personally like knowing exactly what we're getting and I could see people being disappointed their new weapon doesn't look as good as it does in your showcase.
Fair criticism and to further back your statement I would go as far as to say to hold off on upscaling as that chunks the game a bit as well as the fact 7.0 is coming up albeit in the near future .

As a casual Hrothgar enjoyer, I can definately say that the Hats for Viera and Hrothgar mod doesn't given any worse clipping than more than a few items of clothing already give (looking a you here Boulevardiers Ruffled Short). It's definitely worth a download

2 of my favorite Sfx mods are Reapers forgiven mod which turns all of Reapers attacks into this pale sick light effect like sin eaters and all the summoner mods that change the Demi summons forms and attacks with my favorite being Edens Shiva.
Side Note: When modding please PLEASE make sure to pay attention to what Bodies / Weapons / Emotes / Mounts / Minions / Npc you use. You can break mods that way causing the game to crash on you, causing graphics to bug out.

No, somebody tell Yoshida. Because, much as I love FF14, some of these mods are things that should straight up just be in the game and there really isn't any excuse for them not being in (especially the first mod, its been three years, there's absolutely ZERO excuse. ESPECIALLY since new headgear STILL has this issue. They're just being lazy, plain and simple)
Crazily enough, they coudl probably just claim most of the modded work already done and apply it to the game with zero effort and fill in the gaps from here forward or just pay the guy with game time or something. With all the contests they do, I'm surprised there isn't a followup contest for 3d modelers to model the contest creations so that SE doesn't have to spend time on it and it gets done anyway. Plenty of people will do it for fun/experience/ in game loot.
They are not lazy, they are a business, with more delays, more money. People will not leave the game...what? Have you seen a junkie not taking some pot?! Im not saying that all players are like this, but for MOST, FF14 is their heaven. They will not abandon it

The closest thing to it is that if a game includes tools to create your own levels/gamemodes/whatever, the company may include in the service agreements that they may freely use what you've created using their tools. The was a whole uproar about this when Blizzard added it to the ToS of the Starcraft 2 or WC3 remake level creators (can't remember which), presumably out of a desire to own the "next dota" to come out of it rather than have it slip their grasp like the original dota did

Penumbra, Mare and Illusio Vitae are game changers. The modding community is massively talented and the quality of glam and custom things they come up with honestlyis mind-blowing. It's true that a lot of it is NSFW but honestly that's only a part of it, and some of the custom necklaces, tiaras, heels/shoes and outfits that are perfectly SFW put SE's designs to shame.

always better to keep it in default, just to have a good base of players you reach with videos. Would be kinda scummy to showcase 4K stuff to someone and then they dont get the desired look when they acquire the item. Love the Starcraft bit haha.

Please note that most of Kartoffel's (sorry if misspelled) up-scaling mods are NOT 4k resolution. They are 4x A resolution. This means it is 4x the resolution of the default one decided by the developers. For example, an armor piece may be 256x256 resolution. With this 4x mod, it will now be 1024x1024 resolution. NOT 4k resolution.
X = multiplied by the default resolution.
K = a fixed amount of resolution.
Nontheless, their mods are a WONDERFUL! I have 200GBs worth of Kartoffel's scaling mods...
DO NOT apply these up-scaling mods unless you got a good PC guys. I play on a 4k monitor, and have an RTX 3080 FTW + Ryzen 7 3700x + 32 GB Ram, and a 2TB NVME SSD. If I allow the 4x gear up-scaling mod to apply to every character, it will take a good 1-2 minutes for players and menus to load in at the Limsa hub. So... It's only applied to me and my FC members.
Even though im a bit of a purist and don't like the idea of using mods, I did come here out of curiosity to see if there have been any attempts at making a mod to make the shield bar look better and ended up leaving blown away by that dante mod.
The best mod I've found and refuse to take off: ***ACTUALLY BLACK LIPSTICK***

Papas VIrgil DMC themed Samurai mod is the reason i main Sam now :D. It is just so good to see and feel al the animations & sounds he put so much work in. His Dante Mod for DRK is even better and he has some awesome stuff for other Job's as well. Someone else said this before but this is something where i would not mind paying SE for, full new animations and UI changes Themed when possible. Papachin is awesome and i hope more People suport his work !

@@Tailionis papachin Warrior skill effects mod for me is life changing. on top of attacks looking cooler, the screen quake effect (like reaper) on weapon skill attacks make combat SOOO much better, War was always supposed to savagely hit hard and the added impact to attacks emphasizes that
Papachin's Dante mod was the first mod I ever bought and it inspired me to go on my own modding journey. Every time he comes out with something new, I buy it and dissect it to learn new things and incorporate those new things into my work. He's truly a pillar in the animation and vfx modding community.
the problem with ui and textures is simple that if the game has to render more data as it can, so if the chache runs out, the game simply crashes, this can happen with every kind of mod or plugin, if it cant be loaded or simply is to much, the game says goodbye, so for some mods you need a pretty good pc to run them properly without issues
Why not work with the modders to simply implement some of this stuff in game, so long as it stays g rated? Viera and Hrothgar should have gotten hat support ages ago, and if square can't seem to find the time or ability, why not out source it to someone who already did all the work?
They kind of do, their are believed to be at least a few devs who patrol mod communities to figure out what's being made and why. But the people at Dalamud have put it best that they're aware that what mods currently pull off is almost always due to a bodge job that breaks every golden rule of coding practice there is. So anything made as a mod could be implemented... But it's magnitudes harder to implement it in engine than out.
Under what rock did you lived? :)) kidding ....SE is doing what Blizzard did ......as Edward said, and I agree with him/her (sorry if I misplaced ur pronoun, trying to be correct >_>) They steal the ideas (or who knows, maybe they contacted the modder) from others...someone was banned for using a mod for the CD on the hotbar, boom they got that into the game ....someone else was banned for the cd timer in the party list, next patch...what do you know! Tooth fairy made a spell and boom, here they are! These things are under the hand a lot of times, and they are not even shown to the public.
The #1 mod I NEED shouldn't have to be a mod at all! ; it's a controller fix plugin.
There ARE pc controller players like myself, and there is STILL an issue that your controller will randomly freeze for about 2 seconds before working again.
This is caused by ANY device changes on the pc...even virtual. So things like xbox gamepass or steam that constantly change will freeze you in your savage or ultimate raid at the worst possible time and wipe the team!
Even disabling the microsoft device change enumerator on your pc does not help, but the controller fix plugin COMPLETELY fixes the issue I desperately wish SE would...I guess they just assume all controller players are on psn...

Ive been xiv pc controller(first ps4 and now ps5) user for about 5 years and never had any kind of freezes🤔 or atleast i havent noticed. Other than when the cord starts breaking, fixed when i get a new one from warrant 😅 have both/either of you tried calibrate on windows? I do it sometimes, fixes some minor errors on other games, comes especially after win updates 😅 better cable? I have good 3meter long cable, works really well but breaks easily, but atleast i get a new one for free on warrant. Also in-game settings, check them and adjust 🤷 it took me good long 3-4 hours to get my now perfect setup 😅 (hud and adjusting all the controller settings, stick, speed etc)
Just being able to use helmets as a Viera is more than worth it for me.
Fuck's sake, I'll take clipping ears over *NOTHING* any day.
Most important one is the mod that makes the "Red Paint Emote" ACTUALLY red!!

i would love to see some clothing fix mods... like, have you ever wanted to use a Hood on your character and not be just a piece of cloth floating around your neck like it's not attached to anything? AKA, the Fat Cat Hood.
or tried do wear a cape on a chest piece only to see the cape getting stuck on your legs because it's attached to your whole character model? AKA, _paladins_

I refuse to play FFXIV without Material UI... until SE updated their UI graphics to include so called "4K" UI textures, which resolved all of the problem I had with FFXIV's pixelated rounded corners. Now, I play without Material UI, but the only thing I really miss from Material UI is the ridged edges for my field of view on the minimap.
If you ever played Skyrim, you know exactly where to download these FFXIV modules 😉

The moding for this game is so wild. As someone that love pink stuff just knowing I can get most mounts in the color pink really makes my day.
Say what you want about... the OTHER mods. but there lots of passion behind them. people didn't have to make hats wearable but they did, or upscale stuff. it really shows the passion of the fans.
While I don’t mind the highlighting of much needed hroth and Viera headgear I feel going past was a bit much…can’t talk myself as I’m knee deep into mods 😅
I wonder what it would take for SE to reach out to the molders to purchase their ear/hairstyles then just to incorporate it into ffxiv >.>
Idk I think Yoshi P said in an interview somewhere that unless a mod helps cheating mechanics they are not going to crack down on client side only stuff. So they don’t seem to mind, just asked the peeps not to do the nsfw stuff outside private estates and get the game a 18+ rating

For many people, they think that Yoshi is in a grey area, and he kinda is... but as long as it does not interrupt or disturb someone gameplay and state of mind. And of course cheating. BUT .....if they get reports that someone is using them, they will have to ban. And im not talking only for videos, streams ets ...this happen in the game as well.
I already downloaded mods before and its usually for like hd hair/and hair mods, improved face textures, different eye textures, the body mod that makes them look better with outfits that fit that body, custom emote animations and of course just glams which I recently got more.
5400 mmr NA SC2 player, seeing that opening where you didn't split the probes on the mineral line really bothers me. Letting them auto gather is fine, but you're losing mining time because they clump up and have to rearrange. Sometimes one or two will go to the backside of the minerals, you're giving yourself an unnecessary handicap.

Theres a mod that also give people fingers and toes instead of hotdogs. So many mods out there that add things into the game that should already be there lol. It really is crazy that people with free time can do what professionals should have done but for some reason can't. Like the mani pedi mod, hat mod, and upscalling mods should be part of the actual game so people on all platforms can enjoy it. I also feel like they need to stop being strict about modding in general. Coming from other games like wow and eso that are super mod heavy it's weird to me how strict they are in FF14 and how people are scared to even mention them in game. I personally mod the shit out of FF14 but can't stream or talk to ppl abt it in game due to how strict they are which is pretty lame.

If I want to try some of those female hair mod(s) it would be best to use xivlauncher > dalamud > penumbra plugin? Do you have to first have those hair unlocked or purchase to make full use of the hair mod? Same for clothing/body armour?
You would combine penumbra with glamourer. Glamourer allows you to overwrite the gear your character is wearing (client side only ofc) as well as character customization.
So let’s say you install a mod that changes how spring bottoms looks. Penumbra would install it, and you’d use glamourer to equip it and turn it into a glamour set even if you don’t have spring bottoms in the vanilla game.
With penumbra collections, you can also make it so only your character is affected by the mod. So all spring bottoms in the game look like vanilla, but the set your character equips looks like the modded one.

The only mod I would ever want, is one that changes the subtitles into the actual translated subtitles, and not the localizers fan fiction that we are currently forced to read.
They're never get rid of mods bc they know if they do they will lose a bit part of the player base.

At times I just convert whatever weapon I use to another weapon I want. Like fae weapon to dsu weapon. sure can't flex and be seen by other people. but how many times do your gear impress others anyway? as long as you have fun yourself.

@@QuietRedemption Even more fun, I converted DSU claymore (DRK) to both main weapon, and off hand orb (RDM). and you look like darth maul, or pso2 double sabers.

Dalamud launcher, using the combo plugin to combine your combo actions in 1 button (sort of like pvp combo button) which leaves more room for other actions you'd use (or not use?) ^^

@@jadenquest9544 last time I checked and saw it was around the 7.0 patch, still some ways to go but that's to be expected considerably how big the game is in general along with all the new stuff coming in from the patches before it.

Actually nobody can see it, even when they have the mod. Only your clients animations geht altered, so you are the only Person to witness

These are all client-side hacks. Anything that would adjust how others see you would necessarily go through Square's servers, and you can see where that would end well.

no. I mean, technically as long as you don't get CAUGHT it's fine. But the safe thing would be while streaming to use no mods and plugins. Don't even use reshade or nvidia.
I use so many class animation changes it looks so much cooler running dungeons and raids

I don't know if my comp display isn't good enough to see it or if my eye sight's just bad but I didn't really see the difference between the upscaled and default on the armor, not saying it isn't there I guess it just wouldn't help me on my rig *shrug*

Why not do both for weapon showcase.
Show the original first and then the upscaled version.
Say you quickly show the original first and if you talk about details you showcase the upscaled version.

Yoshi knows they exist, obviously. They even made it easier to mod their game. The irony, that he loves WoW (the most heavily modded MMO in existence) but somehow can't incorporate it in his own game flat out.
The only mods I use give Au Ra pointy miqo’te teeth.
I also use a mod that gives seekers fangs. I'm a Seeker Miqo'te, but I love the fangs on Keepers so I had to have them!
Unfortunately anyone who knows anything about modding (even the devs themselves) know what that site is by just looking at your screenshot of it.

Well thanks to modders and players that have suffered from bans, since we are going get buff timers and different damage types added to the battlelog in the next patch, so maybe someday the Viera will dominate even on the Hat department

Just you by default, but you CAN choose other players to view the mods you're using, if you use penumbra mods. it's an extra plugin that you link with Penumbra called Mare Synchronos. I'm been having fun seeing my partner's mods without having to download & implement them myself! But ofc for security/privacy reasons, there are a few steps to take to pair & "synch" yourself with another player.

The best case for mods and 3rd party tools I know of is the Visibility plugin. The game's terrible privacy features make it super easy for stalkers, but with Visibility you can mod certain players out of your game entirely so they're not affecting your enjoyment.
Changing someone else appeareance in the game is not ok. Ok, do it ...but please don't brag, harrass or shame someone's character. Im not speaking in the name of the community, but you will be stricken down

Not sure if this is possible however been hoping for a way to do mouseover healing. Used to the new healing style more or less however some aspects are frustrating coming from WoW
