I believe you are right about the handle looks like the Randall Border Patrol handle which is kinda perfect, like you said 20.00 could be okay after sharpening ...... Good review !
Good review. At least it is not Hornady 188 grain ammo. LOL Never been crazy about the 3CR steel. But this knife works and you couldn't break it. That makes it OK in my book.
+Tactical Schrade's 3Cr13mov heat treating and construction for their machetes seem to be better than the large majority of the other companies who use 3Cr13MOV. Compare the 3Cr13Mov of this to Kershaw's 3Cr13Mov like on their Seige tomahawk, which do you think is better?
Wow that is a sweet Kukuri! Quick question, how do you think this one compares against the Cold Steel Kukri, what about versus the Himalayan Imports Kukuri?
i have a question pertaining to steel. i know in your steel vs steel the surgical steel blade wasn't that great you said it probably wasnt good enough to be 420 steel. and if im not mistaken 440 steel isn't that great either. but at what point is it just crap and ok ??? and does it depend on how harsh you are with the blade?
i had a o1 cs gurkha kukri that broke 2 inches off the handle after less than a week. I was lucky amazon gave me a refund. I would not care for one of these at this price. When it comes to "chopping" wood with a large knife/machete i would take my camp 18 kershaw over anything. Even that and also these kukris are rather useless if you really are serious about having an efficient and well rounded kit. After trying both big knives and machetes and kukris i found that a small knife is always needed and axe does things neither can. If you really want to carry a big knife, say for defense against bears or whatever, cutting small trees, camp chores, a straight and longer blade is better. The camp 18 for me i think works the best, it also lends itself perfect to saber fighting techniques.
qpmkro Brb, sabre dueling a grizzly in SoCal. Seriously though, from a physics standpoint a well built & properly designed kukri is one of the most efficient blade styles for a good number of tasks. I don't really trust Cold Steel's manufacturing processes, but you can't deny that they have excellent designs. I'm not sure why they decided to use O1, SK5, and San-Mai III though... Spring tempered 5160 at ~58HRC is the obvious choice for such a blade, its been proven very reliable, has great track record, and isn't very expensive. AFAIK 5160 doesn't experience brittle-ductile transition, making it suitable for use in extreme temperatures.
+Chris Doane , Recurve blades can be tricky! A round sharpener helps, I use 500 and 1000 grit wet dry wrapped around a dowel. I break the blade in to thirds, tip to just behind the mid point, just behind mid to beginning of inside curve, and from there to the handle. I do mine freehand and don't think anything else but maybe a Work Sharp would do the job. Good luck.
Say Heah Brother Tac'tie, My People. I luv Khukuris and Kukuris so much that I had William Collins make me a Straight Kukuri. He said it's different enough to name it myself because it's different from his Master Woodsman. So I named it my Paul'ies Delight. The smaller one I named it my Paul'ies Pride. Yeah, I posted them on my Google Plus. I also made a couple of nice Combo's using my other Khukuris and Khukuris, like with my Himalayan Imports M-43 Khukuri, I teamed it with one of my 3V Bravo 1's, and my Cold Syeel Plus Kukuri in O1, with my Master Hunter in the San Mai 3. Both are awesome. Dilly Dilly.,,.p
It shows it's $75 CAD. Which is ridiculous for a hollow grind 3cr13 knife with a molded handle and a nylon sheath... Especially when you could get a 5160 spring steel saber grind kukri with a thicker spine and a leather scabbard for the SAME price... This is why I never get knives from Schrade, Gerber, or S&W.
Maybe sharpen this thing and then test this for chopping ability, deflection and hand stress against the Kershaw Camp 10 and 14 models on the log of truth.
+joel Velazquez Not a cold Steel rip off. The Kukri ((which this is based off of)) has been around for a really long time. Outside of the region where it comes from ((Napal)) it started to gain some fame in the early 1800's. to the point that one of the characters in the original Dracula wields one. ((1897)). So yeah.. not a cold steel rip off.
Tactical, you inspired me to start collecting. i love your videos.
Keep them blade reviews coming, love your videos brother.
another great video, keep it up, my brother from another mother.
That's a good sheath design for a Khukuri as well.
Chopping trees down, good video brother TaC!!
shrade never disappoints
on that sumac the upside down grape looking flower thing you can make into a drink like lemonade.

The Blade Guy Tac Mac Jac is back ,what up Tac.
Got one and boy that thing is a cheap prices breast.😎⚔️🏌️
Now thats what a Gurkha would use in war, it is tough for hard striking and light weight for speed, what you need in battle.
Gee, I need two of those, or maybe three for the price, it make me think of that cold steel knife with the same name.

please do a video with a gurkha kukri or a tactical kukri from the store columbia
Tac, if possible some how please do a field test review on an Ontario SP 8 machete, thanks
Wow that is a sweet Kukuri! Quick question, how do you think this one compares against the Cold Steel Kukri, what about versus the Himalayan Imports Kukuri?
Tribune of The Plebs, I will pit my CS LTC Kuhkri in carbon v steel against that anytime.
Where did you learn all of your knife skills tac?
nice review powerful design keep up the great videos
+tactical can you please test the cold steel normal kukri not the royal or magnum vs the schrade vs sog vs ka bar
I wish you chopped a little more on bigger stuff, and the hard wood tree that fell down, great vid overall
Damn I'll have to pick one up. I really want harden baton first though.
Get the Schrf48 instead.
That's why I don't like full flat grinds on a big knife. A saber grind on that would've blown right through that wood
Luv the testing tac! :)
Hey tac you should try out the condor pack golok it's not that expensive but it's amazing
Do a field test on your recon scout tac it's a tank of a blade
is this a new model? can not find in e.g. on ebay at the moment..need to order to europe...
Seems like a good kukri. I have the Cold Steel kukri. Great kukri. Are you by chance going to get the Ka-Bar kukri?
-Demon Slayer
if I can afford it I will
thanks tac! awesome vid
you're laughing is so badass lmao
before I watch, I kind of expect this knife to go well.

Blade looks almost identical to the Cold Steel variant... hmm...
Sweet shirt btw.
for sure peachy.
+Peachy Keen for the price this one seems even better. You can trash 8 of them for the price of a O1 Gurkha kukri
qpmkro
With 3Cr13MoV, "trash them" is quite the appropriate term.

Tac can you make a vid of how to sharpen kukri style blades?! Cause for the life of me I can't do it... Haha thanks!

Great demo tac!
where can I get one??
www.amazon.com/Schrade-SCHGK1-Gurkha-Kukri-Fixed/dp/B01785Q6SY
Where can i get oneTac??
Estwing make a machete now too. See if you can get a hold of one.
the estwing machete sucks... i own one and it's pathetic. the gerber gator jr is a better bet than the estwing.
Nice beater blade
How would you rate this against something from Coldsteel
+Michael Daury colsteel uses better steel, 01 and 1055 high carbon steel
+CAMO7357 yea you're right bout that man i forgot bout the steel

Whoa wait that is a thin kukri
It's my birth day tac.
Resident evil 3 , alice is using one this !
No slippage that's what she said.
TACTICALMORE ZOMBIES, YOUR PEEPS DEMAND IT
damn tac those fuckin mucles excuse my French hehe
dude for 27 bucks you can't beat that with a stick
I think id rather the blade be made of chocolate than 3cr!!!
Chocolate would melt and not to mention it isn't very tough.
+Sid Organ 3cr13 steel is terrible for knives, but great for larger tools. Schrade use 3cr13 for all basically all their machetes and axes.
3cr should only be used for forks and butter knives...
