    I'm surprised she applied the ice directly to the skin

      There are types of ice packs that can be placed directly to the skin.

    • @archiewoosung5062

      @@YourLocalObsesserLOL OK, but in that case shouldn't she have said that's what she applied? Shouldn't think many of us have any of those in the freezer.

      Yeah, you're right I was a bit confused there as well because can't the ice pack give you frostbite and the circulation to that area might just be cut off because ice packs can also stop blood flow if left for too long without a cloth or something.

  • @findingmybliss5713
    @findingmybliss5713 Год назад +2

    This ice is inside the pack perhaps the material is designed in way it won't damage surface of skin

  • @codenamebravo2212

    Should you put an ice pack directly on to the skin, as this could cause damage to the skin.

      The type of Ice pack used in this video does not cause damage to the skin but most ice lacks will burn you and cause damage to the skin without something wrapped around it.

  • @roseward2293

    NEVER PLACE THE ICE PACK DIRECTLY TO THE SKIN, it tells you this on the packing, as well, Also,, never wrap the ice pack on, place it for approx 10 to 15minutes, remove the ice pack , and apply compression bandage, , this demo is totally wrong,

    If the icepack is supposed to stay only up to 20 minutes or so , why bandage on to the ankle?

    is that the right way to roll a bandage, from the inside or the outside. just asking🤷

    is this same for torn ligament

  • @rohithkumar3480

    Why do we need to keep the limb elevated?

    • @mr.dggames
      @mr.dggames 3 года назад +7

      Because then there will be less bloodflow to the area.

    • @romalynabrenio3676
      @romalynabrenio3676 3 года назад +6

      Correct. There will be less blood flow to the limb which means less inflammation. This is a way to control postinjury swelling.

    Shouldn't we not take off the shoe when have a sprain ankle ? Will it cause more damage when swelling or how long should we wait until I can take off the shoe ?

    • @stjohnambulanceorg
      @stjohnambulanceorg  7 лет назад +41

      The particular ice pack used in the demonstration does not cause freeze burns and can be applied directly to the skin. However, always read the label of your ice pack and if in doubt wrap it in a dry cloth. If using a substitute for an ice pack, such as a bag of frozen peas or ice cubes, always wrap it in a dry cloth before applying to the skin.

    • @YourLocalObsesserLOL
      @YourLocalObsesserLOL 3 года назад +6

      Correct. Depends on the ice pack you use. The one we are using can be applied directly to the skin.
