Wow! I’ve never used more than 1 color at a time. This looks so amazingly easy, I can hardly wit to begin.could the brim be shorter and noted doubled in a fold? I’d doubled, would I slip stitch the ends together and then continue. I love the hat colors. Would be excellent..ent Christmas gifts. Thank you for your tutorial. I am a knitter of many years, I’m 81 years and will try continental style because of arthritis in my hands. Can only knit for a short time. Ives looked into crochet, but I wonder if continental knitting would be easier to learn first. Thank you so much for your awesome video and instruction. I will look for the pattern.
Excellent tutorial and thanks for showing the start of each new section using English style knitting for those of us who don't use Continental knitting.
Absolutely could do that! A cowl is anywhere from 30” a 45” around. So if you take your gauge per stitch pattern repeat then calculate how many stitches to cast on to get the circumference you want (make sure it’s a multiple of 8) and go :)
Ok I’m confused. Why does the chart show you to knit 2 stitches, slip one then knit 3 then slip one and not got back to the knit 2 but continues on in knitting 3 stitches and slip one for a total of 8 stitches? I keep going back to the chart and the boxed in area for the pattern repeat and see that it begins with knit 2 stitches not 3. Just curious. What am I missing? Both of these hats are lovely!😊
I just ordered the VIP Bicrafty Package. In doing so I was able to look at both the chart and the written instructions and was able to figure it out. The knit one at the end with the knit 2 at the beginning equals 3 knits! Duh! 🤪I’m looking forward to both the knit and crochet although these days I’m a bit slow. I have a lot of stuff in the Marly Bird house and I highly recommend it. I also highly recommend your stitch marker video. I’ve watched it a few times and I think I will finally get the supplies and give them a go. Yours are always so pretty!😍

@@yvettescheiman4991 welcome. Hope you will join us!
Beautiful hat!💞
Thank uou
I'm 6 rows into the brim! I think I'll finish it today and move on to the body before bed tonight. How are all of you doing?
It will go so quickly once you get into the mosaic :)
@@MarlyBird Trick or Treat is this evening and the ribbing is a great project for me as I give out candy!
@@MarlyBirdhow do I get the pattern?
@@MarlyBirdI'm sorry
I can knit but I'm terrible at trying to understand how to down load a pattern
@ the free pattern is not a download. It’s free on the website. You can copy and paste into a word doc if you wish.
Marly what if I want to make a matching cowl or infinity scarf?

@@MarlyBird thank you
So pretty. Will there be a match scarf?
I’m not making one but you could do that.
I just finished the ribbing, just wondering if I could secure the folded brim instead of keeping it loose?
Yes you could :)
Marly, in row 6 (knitting) , what does "KEEP 3" mean?
I think autocorrect changed k3 to keep 3. It’s just knit.
Thank you!
Do I have to buy the VIP in order to know how many stitches I need to cast on?
No, the free pattern is available on my blog. You can follow along with that :-)

@@theastewart6721 the chart represents an 8 stitch repeat. K2, slip 1, k3, slip 1, k1…. Then repeat.
@@MarlyBird Right so wouldn’t you start the repeat again with knit 2 not knit 3?

If you use that link to be a free member, you'll get the written instructions, which may help with any confusion :-)
Would a 2x2 ribbing work for the brim also?
Absolutely as long as you cast on a number divisible by 4
