  • If you hate crocheting in the round, you're absolutely going to LOVE this one. This hat is crocheted entirely in rows, yet it has a perfectly sculpted crown. A technique called "short rows" is the secret sauce behind this clever shaping, and it's one of the neatest tricks you can have up your sleeve.

The pattern is wonderful but the instructions are a bit confusing. After doing the first section and then making the shirt rows in the opposite direction I’m confused about going back to the beginning. Some more pictures and a video of you making the the entire hat would be very helpful.

All of the instructions under the heading "Crown Segment" get repeated two more times (so, you do that section three times in total).

Truly an interesting hat! Coming from a surgical background, I find that recognising "stitch anatomy" is as important in crochet as it is in surgery! Failed to recognise some important anatomy in my first two attempts, frogged, corrected and think Im getting there! Thank you so much for the pattern

Hi, I can’t wait to make this hat. A few weeks ago Imade a hat using short rows, similar but not really. I enjoyed it and love it and most certainly will love this one. I’ve used short rows for tops, accessories, and few other things but this seems so ideal for hats and yet only the second time I’ve seen anything like this. Thank you for sharing the pattern and for all your tips!

Very interesting indeed. I have knitted lots of hats, but the one that I have worn and worn for years has been one I knitted sideways (neige eternal pattern) with short rows. It's by far the most comfortable as easiest to knit as there's no awkward part of knitting a circle with just a few stitches. This is a very similar technique and I had never thought of doing the same short rows in crochet, so thank you so much for your video!

I usually make them from the top down because I just detest that bunched up messy look that most bottom up hats have when you sew the top closed. Thank you very much for making this pattern available. The pattern really does look interesting. I am hoping to crochet a hat for my youngest son. He does appreciate the effot I put into hand-made items. And we unfortunately have been alienated from each other due to unforseen circumstances, so I try to make special items for him so that he has as much of my love in every stitch that I can put into it. He actually asked me to make a hat for him. He has hopes and plans of starting a YT Channel as soon as he is able. I was searching for a nice pattern, and this one seems to be exactly what I was searching for. Thank you for sharing.

Recently saw this short-row technique for crocheting a knit-look beanie and I love the format of this video that combines reading the pattern with the hands-on demonstration. It's perfect!! Thank you for putting in the hard work and sharing the success with us. ❤

This makes a beautiful hat, but will require my thinking cap on because I am totally lost. I will rewatch the video a couple of times and then will give it a go. Love your videos, thank you!

It takes a minute to wrap your head around, but I'm sure you'll pick it up after a repeat or two!

I love this pattern. But I am horrible with reading patterns (which I did buy)- could you possibly do a full video of crocheting the hat to completion? If not it’s ok 😊

I agree, she breaks up the video too many times and makes it very confusing. Also she needs to zoom in much closer so we can find those stitches. All those scrolling pictures back and forth drove me crazy. This hat looks so great. But the video confused me greatly. Perhaps I'm not smart enough for this project.

      - I'm going to try to make this because it's so gorgeous! Just going to hope that I will succeed in making it...
Perhaps if I work slowly and read and watch a lot before I crochet?
Thank You very much for this pattern! So beutiful! ❤
