    I really appreciate this video...mine has been coming off as overly too bright, and I think it is because I have the receiver's high eq boost on...it's not a deal breaker, because it still works great...that's why I came back again to watch this video, because I remembered something about eq options, but didn't remember how to access it, Ill check it tonight before we go on...thanks...I use a Helix and am able to hear my guitar effects in stereo, which is just really cool when playing live...using in ears has helped our mix guy as well, because he's not having to deal with stage volume being a factor near as much with 3 out of 5 of us on in ears now...I was very reluctant being a guitar player and prefering to hear guitar out loud and in the air, but, if I can get a good guitar tone with in ears, then there is that stereo effects deal that is just really enhanced wearing in ears done in stereo that is way cool...

      It actually works fairly well. Once you get everything balanced in the monitor out. It sounds good. There is a slight transmission hiss there, but once you start playing, you don’t notice it at all. Me personally, I liked how it performed. My ears were happy! I did not use the supplied buds. I used my KBEAR KZ06s. These are a 3 driver per bud set with a flat response. It sounded good. It’s definitely worth it.

    Used mine for the first time at a gig last night - turns out our guitarist bought the same system and both were set to the same channel. Long story short, with no time to figure out how to fix it (too busy with setting up all the other gear and PA) I just went directly into the external phones jack...worked fine but I wanted to use "actual" wireless. Thankfully you covered how to make the necessary changes and I got it taken care of. Thank you!!!!!

    Good review. I haven't, until now, looked at the Phenyx ... and will give it some heavy consideration.
    That being said, the Galaxy AS-950 (4P2) seems to be a better choice (200 ft. range, 16 channels, four packs, combo XLR and 1/4"; stereo/mono switch; operates on two double As) vs the Xvive with only 6 channels; a funky XLR/1/4" adapter, a non-removable rechargeable battery, zero earbuds no matter how bad).
    As you have time, pass along your thoughts.

    Great review, thank you! I am currently using a Galaxy anyspot 1100T IEM and I do use Westone in ears to optimize the experiance. The Galaxy has some static issues which Im not pleased with. The Galaxy was around $400. Would this be a step up in sound quality or about the same?? Sometimes you do get what you pay for. However, from time to time I find a lower priced product that lives up to or even surpasses the bigger brand names. Would love your feedback. :)

    Thanks for a very informative video that resulted in me buying this system. I have used them for quite a lot of gigs now, and I only have one issue: I am experiencing some dropouts (in the form of loud noise, the sound does not cut) occasionally when I touch the antenna on the body pack. Not a huge problem, but I would love to fix this. Any tips? Is it possible to upgrade the antenna only? Is it possible to buy a better body pack with two antennas or something?

    I have been using the Phenyx for several months as well as the vocalist in my band. We are both using the version in the 900 Mhz range. I have been slightly disappointed. Both of us experience noise which I am guessing is some sort of interference. It is a high pitched scratching sound which happens every 5 to 10 minutes. We both bought from different suppliers. I have tried every combination of channels and groups. These noises seem to happen randomly, but I am unsure if phones or other devices are causing it. We always use fresh batteries. And the noises happen in our practice space as well as at gigs. I'm going to keep using the system as overall it doesn't prevent us from hearing the whole band. Its just really annoying whenever it happens.

For example, with no instruments coming through there is no noise or hiss, but if I play a few bass lines the hiss comes along for the ride with the bass tone. The same happens for other instruments. Unfortunately the troubleshooting info is limited in the manual or on their website so hoping someone else has figured out how to address this.

    • @ManBunMetalHead
      @ManBunMetalHead  2 года назад +2

      I think it really depends on what else you have in your mix. For instance, I'm in a metal band with another guitarist and it can be hard to discern the guitars from each other. Having my guitar in the right channel and his in the left is super helpful.

    • @JamespMusic
      @JamespMusic 2 года назад +2

      @@ManBunMetalHead you may go deaf. Not joking. There is serious issues with having hard pans. We are meant to hear certain things with both ears. When we have them hard pinned into one side what happens is: it isn’t loud enough… so we turn it up. Then up. Etc. When you are only hearing with one ear it tricks your brain into thinking it isn’t loud enough because both can’t hear it.
      There have been many cases of hearing damage to people doing just this without realizing. It is also dangerous to play with one ear in and another out.
      But just what I have learnt. Could be wrong.

      @@JamespMusic This analysis is commonly made throughout the internet. Makes sense too.
      Perceived spacial or psyco acoustic. Like from seeing live shows where the FOH has hard- panned
      instruments left/ right and you want to be placed center of the mains to be able to hear balance.
      I run sound and practically never run full "stereo" unless specified. Time delay on the arrays also
      a consideration for bigger rooms. Concur the one- ear plug out is strongly cautioned against en lieu of
      hearing damage. My guitarist w plugs running from his Helix tends to do this one plug out to hear the
      stage volume and I'm going to run him an aux mix to save his hearing.

    So, I bought one of these units and found that the receiver (belt pack) has a very high noise floor. As soon as you turn on the belt pack receiver (with nothing else on and the volume on the belt pack at minimum) there is a distinct noise floor of what I could call 'soft white noise'. This 'noise floor' did not get louder as I increased the volume. I was listening through a set of Westone UM2 ear buds. Did you notice this with the unit you tested?

    I bought a PTM-10 after reading your review. But I got a big problem: there are a high background noise in the earbuds. Some kind of background sound does all systems like this have, but this is a lot higher than my old Shure 200. The noise is the same if there are sound into the sender or not, and it is the same if the sender is turn off or on. When I play loud sound though the system the noise disappears in the sound, but at lower volumes the noise is too high.
    Is this the same on your PTM-10? Or is it just mine that doesn’t work as it should?

      NB! This was the Phenyx Pro PTM-10 in the 500MHz series, - all tests are of 900MHz. The noise was so loud that I returned it. I got the money back, but not the expenses for transport and taxes which are almost 300 USD. I don't get an answer from Phenyx if they find something wrong with the system I returned, or if it is supposed to be so noisy. If there is an error in the system they sent me, they should pay the transport costs. If there is going to be that much noise, other customers need to know before they buy. I do not recommend anyone to buy the Phenyx Pro PTM-10 500MHz or buy anything from this company that does not cover the expenses a customer has when the system they send have errors.
