    We have been using 6 of these units for about 2 years now and I have to say that this is an HONEST and FAIR review. We purchased two of the units with 2 receivers each so we had a couple of spares on hand. In two years we've experienced zero transmitter failures and only one receiver that is "questionable". With a little frequency planning and some attention to the mix you're sending the unit (as Jake referenced) this is a viable option.
    At this point our church can afford to replace them with the Shure or Sennheiser system but we've found no reason to go this route. This is a reliable system at an amazing price.

      So are you guys running 6 individual transmitters? Or can you have multiple mixes with one transmitter? I’m looking at going this route but I want to be able to run various mixes. Just trying to figure out the best way to do that. Thanks. 😁

    • @cscott0874
      @cscott0874 5 лет назад +1

      Livin The Life we are running 6 separate transmitters. Each transmitter can do either a single stereo or a single mono mix. You can’t split the transmitter into two independent mono mixes like you can with the shure system. However, you can pair several receivers to the same transmitter so several people can share the same mix.
      I used a piece of software to build a profile for the transmitter and plugged in all 100 frequencies they can use. Then I ran a frequency analyzer to determine which frequencies would work together. This helps multiple transmitters play nice with one another. Since we’re not mobile, I only had to do this once and it has worked well since then. Definitely not as convenient as the units that will auto search but it wasn’t that difficult either.

We honestly don't have the space to run stereo mixes out for many of our team on stage but 1 channel p/person in the wired solution becomes super doable. Thanks so much. May the LORD bless you guys!

    Great Review. Had mine for about 18 months now. Plenty of rehearsals and shows on them with zero issues. Your comments on low level hiss when nothing is going on is spot on.. it goes away as soon as any band member starts playing. I also found the same with the bus signal, give it a slightly less hot signal and it will be good to you.

    When I was leading worship I bought this system, as I have always disliked the wedges on the front of the stage. Amazon actually had this system as a return think I paid 135 for it.
    I’ve never used shure or any high end system, for the weekly practice and leading worship for 2 years it was great! Took a few weeks to dial in, but it was great!
    Other concern I noticed, I could not have “everything” running into it. My guitar, vocals, bit of the other vocals and that was it. Anything too much more then that, and I felt like the system would start dropping out.
    Not terrible, had I continued to lead worship I seen they offered a instrument one that I wanted to try.

    Just wanted to mention a couple of things that might help push people towards this system.
    1. The low volume hiss happens in 90% of wireless monitor systems, even most of the sennheisers. It's more obvious in some, but still happens most of the time.
    2. Every wireless monitor system has a limiter built in to stop the transmitter and receiver from clipping. You have to play with it while mixing to get it to that sweet spot on your mix without it pushing the limiter too hard or being too quiet. This is where the Shure and Sennheiser etc really differ from the affordable systems - They have better preamps with more headroom and higher floor noise ratio and more control over this in the systems.
    MY recommendation: Buy 1 and try it. Spend plenty of time with it, make sure you have an experienced audio engineer with you, and figure out the limits of the system. Sometimes there are even frequency ranges that start limiting before others (i.e. maybe the lows start limiting before the mids or highs). If you spend enough time really dialing these systems in, and taking note of it's quirks and sweet spots, then you can get it to sound good. Don't get me wrong, the higher end systems will always have higher audio quality potential. But I know for a fact that the majority of people using the higher end systems don't take the time to dial them in either. So if you take the time and do it right, you can get your mix with this system to sound just as good, if not better, than someone using a high-end system who doesn't take the time.

      Exactly my experience with the Phenyx Pro PTM-10. Beltpack noise floor is higher than I figured it would be and the compression (limiter) was quite noticeable. I have so experiment more, like you suggested, to get the sweet spot.

    Hey Jake I have been using this same system for a few years now. Do you have the limiter feature on the pack set? I have found it can be a bit aggressive. Especially with Click. I found it was actually ducking my signal because it was hitting the threshold with the click. With the stereo setup and turning that off I found I can get pretty good volume out of it and no weird compression issues.

    • @seancca
      @seancca 5 лет назад

      I will say I do get the odd interference issue but I think that has more to do with out space being slightly weird with signals and being bathed in wifi from my ipad for lyrics and computer running ableton. haha! I used it once before at a middle school camp I help out with music at and I had not interference in that place, it was about as far away from me as it is at church, and I would even walk to the back of the room. Probably a good 100' and still have no dropouts. Actually was giving me less fits than the older Shure PSM300 system some of the band was using. Really is a solid low cost option.

    What frequency band does this transmitter/receiver combo work in? If you’re mentioning that this may be a solution for long term, we have to remember that the FCC has sold off the 600-700 MHz range. So by 2020, there would be problems arising with cross talk and the noise floor if they operate in those frequency ranges. Also, what is the customer service like for the unit if something is damaged? These are some important factors in pricing and longevity too.

      Audio fusion requires alot more buy in you need a mac, iphones a powerful wifi router $100 per member and still need the inears and decent cables. Of you are already all in mac eco system and own the iphones and have a powerful router it may be a decent option. I personally think its alot of setup time if you are not using it as a permanent install. Wifi signal especially 2.4 ghz band is extremely crowded too so interference may be a concern. These are just things to consider if you are looking into it.

      You cannot have separate mixes for each receiver pack. I am the worship leader at my church, and we use these systems. We run an x32 and use 5 sets of these ( single transmitters with dual receivers). That gives us 5 stereo monitor mixes for 10 people. We share mixes with "like" instruments. Guitarists with guitarists, bgv's share one, rhythm section share, etc... They are EXCELLENT for the money!

    PSM 300. Don't waste money on anything less for this price point. And get SE-535 ear buds.
