    It is very concerning. One thing that all of the major religions of the world have in common is the emphasis on treating people the way you want to be treated. Putting a curse on B T S to "make" them go in the military or calling for martial law because your political party is being challenged do not seem to fit that.

      계엄령에 대한 방식에대해 반대하시는분들도있지만 사유에대해서 대통령의 입장문과 그에따른 반대정당에대한 반감으로 인하여 지지율이 50대50입니다

    I think it's about deeper problems. I believe when people are struggling to survive, when there is plenty of injustice in the society, when they are so stressed out and can't come with any solutions or improvements in their everyday life they will turn to this kind of individuals for help. I'm not against it as long as the shaman is doing good and is blessed with the gift but there are and will be plenty of scammers so people should be careful. There are also those who are after to do harm and this is something I'm very much against.

    Many politicians all over the world, talk to their priest/ preacher/Imam and nobody bats an eyelid. It is one thing though to talk to one, but to make a decision concerning a country by taking their advice is concerning.

      Talking to a priest or preacher or imam doesn’t usually involved predicting the future and paid rituals to determined desired outcomes.

    • @samaritaDeath
      @samaritaDeath 6 дней назад

      @@HailToTheMeep the way I think about it is everyone is free in their faith and belief, I have a problem with it when they try to shove it down my throat or when they use it to control people. That goes for every religion or faith. To me it sounds like Hocus pocus to a lot of people it is what keeps them going.
      With regards to money, many preachers become multi millionaires from collecting money from believers, many so called Gurus as well. When my father died (an atheist but born Muslim) the Imam tried to guilt my mum into paying thousands of pounds so he (the imam) would pray for his soul and go to Hajj on his behalf. We told him that my dad was a grown ass man, he chose not to do these things.
      They all do it. I’m not saying it’s right, I’m saying that paying and listening to the advice of a shaman is no worse than any other religious representative.

    I think it's fine as long as they use logic first. It gives people reassurance, a sense of control in an out of control world. The issue I have, however, is the ethicacy of cursing. I saw that in Squid Game and i was horrified. I would never go to a shaman, but if I did, I would not go to one that sell curses. That would be my first question. Do you sell curses? You do? Okay. Bye!

    Fascinating, we don't have a culture of shamanism in the UK. I do have a good friend who is a traditional shaman in the USA, but that's a very different practise to Korean shamanism. Thanks for your insights.

    I think MHJs case has brought alot of attention to shamanism. She says she herself is a Christian though.
    Believe it or not I think association with shamanism gives her a bit if clout particularily among teenagers who have a tendency to be intrigued by mystical things.
    I also have a theory that the one with the username Shaman that she was plotting a merger with within three years via Kakaotalk messages and planning to pay Bana with via Kakao is none other than Lee Soo Man who she worked with at SM and is now at Kakao and was in jail when her Shaman was supposedly missing.
    Whoever it was that she was talking to in those conversations also unofficially was shown images of and had the final say in which Source Music trainees did not make it into the girl group New Jeans...
    I think that person is likely to be a shaman in (user) name only.

    I don't think there is anything wrong with shamanism. It is part of Korean culture, and shouldn't be judged. Other countries have religious practices and beliefs that may be similar in one way or another. People tend to turn to fortune tellers or spiritual leaders or practitioners when they feel they have no other alternative; more likely the poor and the underrepresented people. What I do believe is wrong is to use shamanism, or any other practice to influence others, control them, or to do bad things to them, much like what MHJ was consulting a shaman for in trying to destroy BTS and what they've built. When the rich or people in power use it, I believe it is for very selfish reasons. It is all about intention. Of course, you also have to be wary of those shamans or spiritual leaders whose main interest is making money off of those who consult them. And it was obvious that the shaman that MHJ was working with was hoping to get a nice profit from all the work they were doing for MHJ.
