Thank you for the honesty. If more influencers/celebs were honest about these things, i imagine a lot of us would be a bit more comfortable in our own skin and play the comparison game less
I agree completely. We’re shown so much now (with filters, lighting, injections etc) that is supposed to be “natural beauty” but it’s just the opposite of natural. We see a ‘standard’ that is unattainable for the majority of people - which can crush self esteem - especially the young girls growing up now with these lies absolutely everywhere they look.
Wish you were closer my injector keeps doing the lip line! My natural lips were full in the center so not what I should have done. If I know this why doesn’t she!?
Thank you for being so transparent! I am 58 and started Botox at 32. I have the same dermatologist since day one. His motto: « if someone ever ask you the name of your injector it means I am not doing a good job at keeping you looking natural. ». Thank you so much for your videos❣️. You are absolutely gorgeous!!!
I understand what you mean, but from my own experience no matter how "natural" it looks , I can see when somebody had something done,. The more mature the easier we can notice. Something about body language and overall look that's a tell-tale about something is not agreeing in the overall look. That being said it doesn't mean that we should not improve your look if it bothers us, but I don't believe that cover up our age necessarily. In fact I heard that our body language sometimes can age more than our faces.
LMAO ok so I will probably never get Botox ( I'm 46 and totally ok with what I got, but never say never rt) but it's hysterical to know that according to my "lines" everything and one shocks the hell outta me( always raising my eyebrows) but never makes me mad( no 11 lines at ALL) funny to know, and yup pretty correct❤😂
@@DreyaLynx I totally agree with you. The idea is not to fight aging because it is a long lost battle😅. But my goal using botox (not more than 1-2 x per year) is to relax that permanent frown and worried look I had starting from an early age. It softens it and that is all I am looking to do. Aging gracefully is best because it definitely shows when someone refuses to age and they still look their age but weird looking ❣️
Wow that was the BEST VIDEO I've ever watched re injectables. Comprehensive, Sooo well-spoken, to the point. & THANK YOU for using the official medical terms naming our muscles - you are an Incredible teacher!🙏💖
I’m over 50 and had filler injected into my nasolabial folds, but it caused that part of my face to sag, making me look older. Despite attempts to dissolve the filler, the result still isn’t good, and I have a lump under my skin. The person who injected me was a trained RN with over 10 years of experience in fillers and Botox. I recently watched a plastic surgeon who explained that this can happen. He said fillers can weigh the face down and he was right. I will never get fillers again! It has worsened the appearance of my face.
Thank you for sharing this info. IMO, people use fillers much too freely and without regard for the possible side effects or issues that may occur. People (generally speaking) should really educate themselves on the risks involved with anything they inject into their bodies. I’m sorry that happened to you, and I hope you’re able to find a solution.
Sorry to hear of ur adverse effect. I too had a terrible result from getting a fraxel laser treatment for two small sized sun spots on my cheeks. After fraxel I now have large hyperpigmentation spots on both sides of my face!!! I’ve never had issues with the sun or melasma from pregnancy but this treatment ruined my face!! I’ve tinted my car windows, black out curtains at home, wear a large brim hat everyday while outdoors and layer sunblock creams several times a day. I’ve managed to diminish the hyp. quite a bit, but It’s a daily battle well, more like a lifestyle!! Lesson learned. I don’t think I’d ever do ANY of these treatments. Too scared!!
I also have a strong jawline and high cheekbones and always thought I looked so “bony”, but now, at 65, that bone structure is probably helping to hold my face up! 😅 Thanks, mom and dad!
Wonderful and informative. I am 71 and had my first facelift at 58. I resisted botox for 12 years😅. After my second facelift two years ago (yes, they don’t last forever) I agreed to botox in my forehead and never looked back. Anyone who is wavering should consider it. Even at my age, those forehead wrinkles are gone when my forehead muscles are relaxed and the botox is wearing off. It takes a skilled village and a line item in my budget to look refreshed! The bonus of all of this is no one asks “are you ok? You look so tired” anymore. ❤
May I ask how long the Botox lasts approximately? I just turned 61. I’ve never had anything done. However, I’m getting two forehead lines so I’m hoping it’s not too late. After a while, skincare just doesn’t work. Plus, I have such sensitive skin I can’t use Retinoids. Thank you so much.🙌🙌🙌
@@heathergasol569some suggest every 4 months but it depends on your muscles. Once you see the lines coming back or notice more movement then it is time
I’m not to judge, but need to express my feelings: I’m amazed and puzzled : I’m 56 and until couple years ago I did not know Botox and dermal fillers even existed !I was happy with the way I looked, understood beauty has many variations. Ok I see some signs of aging now, but I look with curiosity, not criticism. Are we being conditioned to be ‘imperfect’, needing to be ‘fixed’ or ‘beautified’ ( because it feeds the economy)? Or, maybe I’m ’old- fashioned’? 🤔
Have you adjusted your diet since your 20s or 30s? Do you color your hair? Do you exercise differently than you did as a younger woman? Do you take vitamins or supplements that you didn’t when you were younger?
Yes, we have been conditioned as a culture to accept only youth as beautiful. The majority of men consider older women less desirable than younger women. Thus we spend billions of dollars and risk our health frantically trying to gain the approval of men. And before you say that it isn't true, "I do it for myself" . Please try to ask yourself why this makes you feel better? Most likely you'll come to the conclusion that it's because you have subconsciously internalized society's message that your value is based on your youthful appearance. Rejection of our appearance as we age is really a result of external pressure on us. It takes a brave woman to age gracefully.
It's brainwashing.... I watch my coworkers go broke trying to look a certain way! I'm not going to give money to a society of people who I don't care if they do or don't notice I am 53. I'm 53 and full of joy with out spending money on cosmetic procedures. I'm not trying to be unkind at all but for me and in my opinion this is way too much to concern yourself with.
So, I know someone who had botox in their neck, and it turned into a nightmare. She couldn't swallow, couldn't talk, it was really scary. Later on we learned that sometimes people end up in the hospital on feeding tubes until it goes away. So my advice to viewers of this is to make SURE your doctor knows what they're doing.
Wow! I was cynical going into this. You are so very knowledgeable and know how to communicate that knowledge. Also, you are a true master/artist at what you do.
Thank you for the information, delivered honestly and bravely! I have been using Botox for 20 years between the brows and just added my chin and upper lip and wow, that little bit added such a nice subtle change. Love getting the comments of”don’t know what you’re doing but you look great!” Side note, hair looks amazing, warmer color looks fantastic!
I've never commented on social media before but this was so amazing. Love the explanation of balance / symmetry. You are gorgeous and I'm happy you're doing procedures that make you feel more beautiful to yourself. Great video ♥️
I’m 74 and have had a brow lift at 50 and a facelift at 60. Have had three laser procedures also at 50, 60 and 70. So at my age, I’m just through with surgery. But I started getting Botox around 6 years ago and it’s the best! I love my Botox. I have an injured lower lip also and had filler a couple of times, but now I just need the Botox in my chin to even it out. I also find the lack of symmetry really is what bugs me and Botox is so great for that! Your video on this was really good!!!
Thanks for sharing. Would you have done your face-lift sooner or was the brow lift enough to hold you over? Did you have jowling/under chin fay that made you want the face lift? I'm 35 but a face-lift is something I will have to start saving for now if I want it at 50. So I've been doing a lot of research and opened a high yield savings account. Baring any crazy emergencies that cannot be covered otherwise, I should have enough by 45(as I'm assuming $50k for facelift w/the research I've been doing but will keep checking and changing my goal as needed).
Dearest Sam, you have taught me so much and I am forever grateful. This video makes me love you all the more. Your candor is refreshing and will no doubt boost the confidence of women who are bombarded with images of "picture perfect/airbrushed" standards that are impossible to achieve without some smoke & mirrors (botox, self-tanner, and Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder LOL). I'm 62 and have been blessed with great skin and hair most of my life. I am now on an intensive skin and healthcare journey as a mature "novice," learning how to deal with my postmenopausal skin and body. I've recently dealt with Perioral dermatitis and some other specific things which first brought me to your channel, and your advice has been extremely helpful. Grrrrrrl, you da bomb- GORGEOUS inside and out!! I feel as beautiful now as I ever have, and you contributed to my current sense of well-being. Thanks!!
I looked at my derm’s face, to see what her aesthetic philosophy was. It was subtle and she spoke openly about what she did for her own face and demonstrated where she’d left some movement, so that she didn’t look expressionless, when telling patients about there skin cancer diagnosis. She is 50.
She Probably doesn’t need all these injections. She’s younger than me. I’m 38 and have never had infections or fillers. I have a few wrinkles. But look fantastic for 38 with consistent skincare. And I don’t mind having a few wrinkles. Perfection is not my goal.
@@Paoulait’s her job and she is highly trained to see the areas, of course she does more than the average person. She also doesn’t pay for product. At $8-$13 per unit for Botox can you imagine getting over 100 units ever 3-4 months? Plus the expense of the fillers which are $500+ per syringe, and multiple are being used here. It’s expensive to stay young 😂
Thank you so much for this video! It is definitely one of the most comprehensive and candid talks about injections that I have seen on RUclips. I will definitely be referencing back to this video to hopefully make more informed decisions about my cosmetic injections!
Dr Sam, this is medical information that the public needs to know. I appreciate you for taking the time to walk us through this, and I believe every doctor should be doing the same. Thank you for sharing your personal experience with us. ❤❤❤
I never thought about or ever plan to get botox/fillers. However, if I ever change my mind later on, I am booking an appointment with your Dr. Ellis. I never heard of Sculptra, I will research more about it. You did a beautiful job!
I started getting Botox and filler at 47. Really just to correct asymmetry and a heavy brow that stands out on camera/Zoom. I’ve been happy with the results and no one but me knows. I look like myself, but rested. An interesting tip my injector pointed out is that for people who don’t others to know they have had injections, she goes very light on crows feet, in general, because it’s one area that can “give it away” if someone has Botox since once most people are in their 50’s they have some crows feet, no matter what. I took pictures of myself as a teenager to my consultation and the injector said that was helpful.
Oh yes, please. Im 43now, overall look much younger than i am but apparently i see my face sagging little by little. Many cosmetic derm. said that ONLY thing helps is the FaceLift but right now im really not interested major surgery.
..the people I know with heavier faces aka jowls aka saggers have only been helped by facelifts. And after a few years, they actually want to have another. I’m a 75 yo sinker..bony face, hollow under eye. I’ve gotten a little botox for years!
One of your best videos yet!! I literally had my first round of Sculptra this morning at 60 yoa. I was a nervous wreck, but my injector was fantastic! She put numbing cream first, then used lidocaine with the Sculptra product and I had very minimal discomfort and I'm a wimp! Im scheduled for round two in 7 weeks and now I'm not nervous for it. She used a canula for the Sculptra. She used two vials today, but may only need one the next time. I'm having one or two more treatments, depending on the look I'm going for. I just want to naturally look my best and I hope this will achieve my goals without a facelift. Once the Sculptra is completed, we'll discuss very little filler in my nasolabial folds and some minimal lip filler to smooth out my lips and lines. I'll then get my Sculpta maintenace once a year, and of course continue Dysport a couple times a year. Any other mature ladies have success with Sculptra? Wish I was more educated and had the money to do this stuff at a younger age. Thanks Dr. Sam!
I'm just a few years younger than you, and I love Sculptra! I started with 2 vials last November and then had two more appointments (spaced out about 8 weeks apart) of 2 vials each. I was concerned about marionette and nasiolabial folds as well as some hereditary jowls that were starting to form. My injector (I see a PA) said replacing volume had to start at my temples and then go across my cheeks, which would then provide lift to help alleviate those issues. And it's worked! Even now, quite a few months after my last appointment, I still feel like my face is lifting ever so slightly and my jowls are continuing to dissipate. And the added volume is very subtle and doesn't look like something foreign in my face -- because it's not, as it's my own body's collagen. I will follow my PA's recommendations for Sculptra maintenance, which will likely be a vial or so every year. I still love me some Botox, but my Sculptra results have just blown me away.
I don’t have any plans on getting Botox, filler or plastic surgery. I want to be one of those women to show that wrinkles and saggy skin are signs of me living life and they’re ok. Be happy and confident in your natural skin, you don’t need to alter anything. I want my daughters to know they’re beautiful as they are, and as they age. I will say I appreciate and respect your transparency.
Wow I have found my twin I feel same! I have named my forehead lines after my children and my 11s (don’t like them I’ll be honest) after my hubby😂 I just know if I tweaked I would not look like me. I want to be a role model for my girls. Not make them ashamed of a natural line on their face😮 I am just trying to be natural & make the most of what I have & accentuate my “good points” You go🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉love this x
That’s fantastic, but having a tweak here and there does not mean you want to change the way you look entirely and shouldn’t be talked about as if it’s shameful. We use makeup, paint our nails and wear cute clothes to improve our looks- this is no different and no worse
Wow, do I wish I could find an injector as thoughtful as you. I’ve gone to so many and I have two people that I really like, but this level of detail and knowledge of facial musculature is next level. Thank you for sharing.
You're the best Dr. Ellis for showing this so detailed and thoroughly. I'm 32 years old and while I have a skincare regimen incorporating retinol and sunscreen, I still have signs of aging and have started researching injections. I'm also getting married in 8 months and really want a refreshed youthful face. This was so informative
@@Marta_is_here Wow what a eureka moment you have given me. I would have never known. Yawn. Anyway my goal is to slow it down or mask it as long as I can.
Be careful with retinol, companies don't tell you because they make a lot of money, but retinol can melt fat in some cases making people look older. I was one of them, but only used it for 2 months or so.
I’ve always been very open about injections and work I have had done and it’s really refreshing to see someone else speaking just as freely. I started Botox at 29, now almost 56 and it has really done wonders in prevention of aging progression. I do everywhere pretty much the same as you minus massater and forehead. I add bunny slopes on the side of nose, and base of middle of my nose. The platysmal bands are an absolute Time Machine for the neck! I do PCL and PLLA threads as my filler substitute and it does wonders as well. Just say no to filler “pillow face”! I DIY everything, as I’m an RN, and just got so frustrated when my injector retired and no one else could get it right. Injecting is an art of balance and not every injector is artistic….lol. Thank you for this video, I’m going to share this, because so many friends don’t realize all the areas than can be tweaked. You’re the first person I’VE actually seen openly talking and showing everywhere you touched up. You rock!
One more comment- I've had botox twice in the past 18 months. I believe the benefits lasted a year on me, before I considered doing it again. I suspect the longevity was, in part , due to the botox helping me break certain habits of raising my eyebrows excessively and squinting. It did not make me lose my expressiveness. It did help me learn to relax certain muscles. Also, I am a "sinker" as well, and an area of obvious sinking on me was my temples. I had sculptra injected into temples and it gave my entire face a younger appearance. I was surprised at what a difference it made.
Gorgeous and elegant! Wow I could never tell that you even get anything done. Looks absolutely natural and stunning. You’ve obviously always been beautiful, but congrats on the flawless work and class. Hard to find such Doctors now a days. Everyone is looking stupid and ratchet with gigantic lips. Thank you for the great content and quality information
Thank you. I feel so much more educated on this process. I now feel like I can have better communication with my Dermatologist about my future injections.
This was such a great video. I've been on the fence about getting Botox for a while. I would love a follow up video where you discuss cost, how painful is it, possible side effects and what can you expect to look like right after and for how long (bruising, etc).
This was so interesting to watch, thank you! I think I get about the same areas done every 6 months or so with jeaveau. I'm very happy with the results it gives me. I've also done my masseter and it made my cheeks a wee bit deflated. People kept asking me if I lost weight because of that which I didn't lol. You look amazing!
Mad respect for you. I don't know you I've never watched your videos I just happened to stumble on your Channel. First of all you are extremely smart. I don't mean just necessarily book smart. The way you communicate I can tell you have some common sense. You seem also very personable. This is one of the best videos I have seen about botox. Good for you keep up the good content. I wish I lived closer to you you would definitely be on my list of doctors. And trust this I am extremely picky. The fact that I'm even leaving a comment is a rarity. I usually only leave a comment when I have something to say.
This is an incredible video! Such valuable information. Very generous of you! ❤❤ I love Botox and get it in virtually all the areas you mentioned. Such a help to me. Filler in my temples was also a help. To find a great injector I agree that you need to ask family and friends - also coworkers if you feel comfortable. Can ask your dental hygienist and hairdresser as well - they see people up close and take notice. I also asked my general practitioner since she’s a great resource.
Thank you for this absolutely invaluable information. I totally agree with your rationale, and the advice you have provided is second to none. There is nothing worse, in my opinion, where someone has had either botox or fillers but used so much and not always in the right placement for their face, it really does look unnatural and even scary. Looking at your face, I would never have guessed that you'd had any work done because it's been so subtle, and I believe that is key. Thank you for sharing not only something personal but also providing invaluable advice. ❤
Great video! I’m glad I came across ur channel. I think saying how much u put in is so helpful for people who have never gotten these procedures before, it’s so hard to know how much is the right amount versus too much!
Yeah but my top lips were so thin compared to my bottom so injecting them at 40 and loved my results . I got a lip lift(decrease area between nose and upper lip , always lift up the pink part of the upper lip) so I don’t fill my lips anymore. I have more men at every age hit on me now than my 20s, I think it’s my lips 👄. Everything else on my face is the same. I think men find fuller lips more sensual.
Thank you for this. I have an appointment next week with a new injector and I needed to be able to verbalize what I want and don’t want. This video helped a lot.
I am so happy to hear all of this information. I think you have always been very pretty and I think you are the best. I am 60 years old and never have gotten Botox because I didn’t know anything about this part of it. Thank you so much for explaining and your honesty. I have been watching your channel since the beginning. ❤❤❤❤
Thank you and please don’t hesitate to share videos such as these. I can’t afford these treatments and I’d wonder if they could be done on me because of my scars. They are very old as I was 17 when I got them but they’re extremely deep, as in half my face was hanging on by just a little bit of skin. My nerves obviously are completely messed up, so I don’t think it could be done. But just because I can’t afford it, doesn’t mean I’m not interested to know about it and be informed, especially as I have adult daughters, it helps me understand what they may want to have done and the safety of it. Never be worried to help people with your knowledge and education, it’s invaluable for many ❤
This was so good. I have been getting Botox in my forehead since 40 and never thought to ask for it in my lower face and will now. I also like your advice to go slow with fillers and not often. I see so many staff members at these clinics that stop looking “natural” from too much filler imo. I can’t help but judge a clinic by how their staff look. An over filled face scares me and makes me think that’s their standard for product use. It’s probably personal preference but still something I’m wary of.
Thank you for doing this video. Please don’t let any negative comments prevent you for going into such topics in detail. Because those of us here to learn appreciate the deep dives. Also, could you please do a video in what type of zinc to take, when and how for extending Botox results. That Short on this was such a teaser. It sent me down the rabbit hole and I tested it prior to my injections. But curious if I did it right. 😘
Thank you! At 64, I’m just starting to think about botox and or fillers. I’ve been pretty happy with my skin until the last year all of a sudden starting to see a few lines around my mouth and fine wrinkles in my lower cheeks. Now i feel confident to at least have a consultation and know what to ask for.
This was so informative! I’ve had 2 bad experiences with Botox… (Both times, it smoothed my forehead lines, but made my brow heavy. My eyelids were wrinkly and my eyes appeared visibly smaller.) Your video makes me think that a more skilled injector might be able to give me the results I’m hoping for! Thanks for sharing! ✨
I totally appreciate what you've shown/explained to us. Transparency is key, and you are obviously very good at what you do without the huge ego. You want the best for people.
Thank you so much for showing us! It is very helpful and I wish more people on RUclips offered to show because it does helps us learn more and decide what we can or would like to have as well to look and feel beautiful! ❤
Some people say that certain muscles are more prone to muscle atrophy over time with Botox , specifically I’ve heard that brow lifts make you more prone to muscle atrophy than let’s say your forehead. Is there any research to support this?
I started Botox in my early 30s. Same with IPL (game changer for my skin!). I started getting a bit of lip filler in my mid-30s because I have tiny lips and slowly built them to be a bit more plump. I experimented with a bit of filler in the cheeks and some in my tiny chin. I got a quad bleph and platysmaplasty at 36 because turkey neck and eye bags run in my dad’s size of the family. So happy to have a jaw line now! I’ve also used prescription tretinoin since I was 18 for cystic acne. Not my face, but I also got breast implants and the saddlebags on my thighs removed in my early 20s and still love that choice at 40. I hope this helps people feel more open to try things. I’m a lady in STEM and we have the technology! 🎉
Fascinating and honest! Thank you so much for sharing this inside look into how you stay looking so amazing. I honestly had no clue about all of the types of fillers and Botox that are available.
Thank you so much for being brave and honest about this! You are gorgeous! If anyone said something negative they are insane. This is so interesting coming from someone in the industry and who doesn’t look like they have Botox! Loved learning more about this!😊
Love you! And love your style and way of speaking. Wish I had found you before my first time with neuromodulators/fillers. You are right. Balance is the name of the game and you absolutely do NOT want "yes" man .... pls keep putting out your content like this. P.S. you're so beautiful!
Sadly when I go to get Botox with you, I feel very dismissed when I ask questions about possible places to get injections and like you rush to get me out of your office.
Thank you so much for this! I think you are the only person online that I would trust with this kind of information. I’m also very interested about Botox for muscles in the neck to relax due to scoliosis.
Thank you for such an informative video and for being transparent. I have never thought about having Botox or fillers and didn’t think you had any. You do an amazing job. ❤
I’m sorry but I’m one of those ppl tht doesn’t think you need all these injections I have had Botox I don’t mind it lightly for ppl, but too many go overboard And imo , everyone is doing it to young 😳 Some movement and some light lines looks so much more natural 😮I also thank you for this info
@@denisegibson7840you think it looks natural. I can spot it a mile away. I’ve called out 3 friends who all denied it then after a few drinks all admitted it. Won’t lie they looked refreshed but let’s see in another 10 years 😬🫨
Dr. Sam, question... I recently started getting my platismyal muscles treated with Botox, however, she only injects the bands (2 on each side) and not above on the jawline like you demonstrated. Could you explain how that affects the area differently? I want to get the full jaw lifting/sharpening effects. This video is FABULOUS, by the way. 🤩 THANK YOU‼️
This makes me so much less apprehensive about injectables. Thanks giving an example of what someone might get! Please tell us other ways people use injectables even if you personally don’t. Also, how to know when something is really only addressable with surgery . . . and then a series on what surgeries are available 😆. I literally only know the term facelift, and no idea what that really is.
Love this video! Thank you for being so transparent and honest, so educational. I wish you had an office in LA! Thank you for always providing great content 💕❤
I would have never guessed that you had Botox you do a beautiful job. Thank you for your honesty I am going to get Botox for the first time in my 11 lines between my eyebrows next weekend. I’m excited and nervous. Also thank you for your FABULOUS skincare line I use the cleanser and ceramide cream everyday. ❤
No, the spf and proper skincare foundation/ lifestyle practices ( no vaping/smoking) are the foundation. Doing expensive treatments without a good foundation is like pushing a Boulder up a hill
THANK YOU for this transparency. I'm so tired of derms who clearly get injections NOT talking about this. THANK YOU!
AND use filters on top of that! Like why should I trust you if you’re clearly lying??!
Or just saying they do the smallest amount of Botox in between their eyebrows and that’s it lol.
Thank you for the honesty. If more influencers/celebs were honest about these things, i imagine a lot of us would be a bit more comfortable in our own skin and play the comparison game less

Dang, I’m so sorry. But thanks for sharing this warning.
Oh no I hate that for you. I'm sure you still look amzing!
Sorry to hear that. Love to you❤
Sorry to hear of ur adverse effect.
People with high cheekbones always looks youthful
Wonderful and informative. I am 71 and had my first facelift at 58. I resisted botox for 12 years😅. After my second facelift two years ago (yes, they don’t last forever) I agreed to botox in my forehead and never looked back. Anyone who is wavering should consider it. Even at my age, those forehead wrinkles are gone when my forehead muscles are relaxed and the botox is wearing off. It takes a skilled village and a line item in my budget to look refreshed! The bonus of all of this is no one asks “are you ok? You look so tired” anymore. ❤
yes ,I agree I am tired of people asking me are you ok?
May I ask how long the Botox lasts approximately? I just turned 61. I’ve never had anything done. However, I’m getting two forehead lines so I’m hoping it’s not too late. After a while, skincare just doesn’t work. Plus, I have such sensitive skin I can’t use Retinoids. Thank you so much.🙌🙌🙌
@heathergasol569 Generally speaking tox lasts between 3 & 4 months.
Yes, or my kids asking “what’s wrong?” Nothing’s wrong, this is just my face!
@@heathergasol569some suggest every 4 months but it depends on your muscles. Once you see the lines coming back or notice more movement then it is time
I appreciate the transparency even as someone who isn't thinking about getting botox just yet
Finding the right injector isn’t easy. Most people don’t disclose the work they’ve had done. Thanks so much for this honest and informative video!!
Authenticity is what matters and 60 sec in, you exude authenticity. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Nothing more authentic than 50+ injections.
I love and respect you so much for being so honest, transparent and educational.
Holy $h!t
Fillers and Botox CAN have drastic results, but it’s very uncommon- but yes, make sure your dermatologist is board certified (like Dr Ellis 😊)
@@Peanut_taco_muffin That is my advice for sure. Never go to a "Botox Party" where some random person is injecting you.
What type of brow lift did u have and how did you feel it turned out and what was the recovery like
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!!
Wish every influencer disclosed all their procedures. This is fantastic!
Dr Ellis is the perfect example of tweakments being doing properly. So, so natural looking. Had no idea she had lip filler
who knows what she looks like in person
I looked at my derm’s face, to see what her aesthetic philosophy was. It was subtle and she spoke openly about what she did for her own face and demonstrated where she’d left some movement, so that she didn’t look expressionless, when telling patients about there skin cancer diagnosis. She is 50.
Your own face looks so natural. I would never have guessed you had done anything.
She Probably doesn’t need all these injections. She’s younger than me. I’m 38 and have never had infections or fillers. I have a few wrinkles. But look fantastic for 38 with consistent skincare. And I don’t mind having a few wrinkles. Perfection is not my goal.
I’m 73 and had Botox maybe 4 times over the past few years just for crows feet. This poor woman is so obsessed!
it’s quite obvious, she has zero wrinkles, you can tell she’s had her lip, plump, and other tall tail signs
it’s quite obvious, she has zero wrinkles, you can tell she’s had her lip, plump, and other tall tail signs
Thank you so much. You have no idea how grateful I am for your honesty and transparency. I was not a subscriber, I am now.
This is incredibly big of you Dr. Sam. Massive respect for you for this transparency. 🙌 Thank you. Also, you are beautiful. ❤
You are hands down one of my favorite derms on the internet!!
Loved this! Can you make the video for "saggers" - what to pay attention to when it comes to prevention and mitigating some of it 🥲
I second this request!!! Thank you so much for the video and all the work you do to share information!!!
Oh yes, please.
Im 43now, overall look much younger than i am but apparently i see my face sagging little by little.
Many cosmetic derm. said that ONLY thing helps is the FaceLift but right now im really not interested major surgery.
Team Gravity 1 - Wrinkles 0 here too😅.
..the people I know with heavier faces aka jowls aka saggers have only been helped by facelifts. And after a few years, they actually want to have another.
I’m a 75 yo sinker..bony face, hollow under eye. I’ve gotten a little botox for years!
Yes plz!!!
@@aloalo-ākala Hope I have the same positive results.
Good luck ❤
I don’t have any plans on getting Botox, filler or plastic surgery. I want to be one of those women to show that wrinkles and saggy skin are signs of me living life and they’re ok. Be happy and confident in your natural skin, you don’t need to alter anything. I want my daughters to know they’re beautiful as they are, and as they age. I will say I appreciate and respect your transparency.
Wow I have found my twin I feel same! I have named my forehead lines after my children and my 11s (don’t like them I’ll be honest) after my hubby😂
I just know if I tweaked I would not look like me. I want to be a role model for my girls. Not make them ashamed of a natural line on their face😮
I am just trying to be natural & make the most of what I have & accentuate my “good points”
You go🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉love this x
Yes 🙌
Respectfully, if you are for aging naturally, which is great, im curious why you’re watching the doctors videos ?
@@MJA-st2yiShe came up on my feed, and I watched it out of sheer curiosity
That’s fantastic, but having a tweak here and there does not mean you want to change the way you look entirely and shouldn’t be talked about as if it’s shameful. We use makeup, paint our nails and wear cute clothes to improve our looks- this is no different and no worse
Great education on the use of botox and filler. I’m taking notes for my first appointment with you in a few months!
@@Marta_is_here BTW, nobody cares! ;)
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! 🎉
@@Marta_is_herethey don’t
If we had the money for these procedures I am sure we would mostly all be having them. Vey glad you can have them.
LOVED this face tour! It was so helpful and of course, I’ve always been curious as to what injections you’ve had done. Thank you Dr. Sam!
This was such a great video. I've been on the fence about getting Botox for a while. I would love a follow up video where you discuss cost, how painful is it, possible side effects and what can you expect to look like right after and for how long (bruising, etc).
Yes, these are my questions too.
This is truly the most helpful and informative video on facial aesthetics I've ever seen.
Sensational video, best I’ve ever seen on Botox and fillers, thank you for your honesty
Your hair looks AMAZING in this video
Very useful video, thanks a lot for being so transparent and pedagogical 😌
I absolutely love this level of honesty. It brings reality to what so many people try to fix solely through skincare
Well now I feel so much better about my usual units, 30-38. You look very natural and use it judiciously.
Great video. Thank you, Dr. Sam, for putting yourself out there for MY benefit. I learned so much.
I prefer the natural smile, it is so genuine and i think our culture's obsession with full pouty lips will eventually fade.
I don’t do it for men because I love my lips. It’s just what I notice since I had my lip lift surgery.
You're lovely and beautiful
Do you have a before photo to share with us to see what you looked like before filler and botox?
It’s probably personal preference but still something I’m wary of.
lip flip, masseters, and chin filler are my only routine procedures. these three really helped improve my self esteem
Only? 😂😂😂😂😂

Thank you so much for being honest and transparent! You’re my favorite dermatologist on RUclips.
Thank you! At 64, I’m just starting to think about botox and or fillers. I’ve been pretty happy with my skin until the last year all of a sudden starting to see a few lines around my mouth and fine wrinkles in my lower cheeks. Now i feel confident to at least have a consultation and know what to ask for.
Me too! 56 & am curious
Same thing happened to me!
I actually got told this happens to those with hooded lids 😮
I totally appreciate what you've shown/explained to us. Transparency is key, and you are obviously very good at what you do without the huge ego. You want the best for people.
Thank you so much for showing us! It is very helpful and I wish more people on RUclips offered to show because it does helps us learn more and decide what we can or would like to have as well to look and feel beautiful! ❤
Brava! Your transparency is to be applauded, new subscriber.
Some people say that certain muscles are more prone to muscle atrophy over time with Botox , specifically I’ve heard that brow lifts make you more prone to muscle atrophy than let’s say your forehead. Is there any research to support this?
Thanks for being real! Your expertise, both professional and personal, is greatly appreciated.
You haven’t had any trouble with breast implant Illness developing after having implants for 20 yrs?
What does the IPL do for you?

Thank you for such an informative video and for being transparent. I have never thought about having Botox or fillers and didn’t think you had any. You do an amazing job. ❤
I’m sorry but I’m one of those ppl tht doesn’t think you need all these injections I have had Botox I don’t mind it lightly for ppl, but too many go overboard And imo , everyone is doing it to young 😳 Some movement and some light lines looks so much more natural 😮I also thank you for this info
honestly she looks more natural with the felt pen lines
If you have zero movement after tox then you've had too much/ have a poor injector. The aim is to still look natural not like a statue.
I started getting botox when I was 40. I'm never frozen and it looks so natural, I just feel fresher. It's all about the injector, its so important

Dr. Sam, question... I recently started getting my platismyal muscles treated with Botox, however, she only injects the bands (2 on each side) and not above on the jawline like you demonstrated. Could you explain how that affects the area differently? I want to get the full jaw lifting/sharpening effects.

Thats why all derms have good skin..its not the expensive creams nor the sunscreen they keep selling but the more expensive treatments
All those expensive treatments don’t matter if you don’t wear sunscreen. Filler and Botox cannot make leathery skin aesthetically appealing.
No, the spf and proper skincare foundation/ lifestyle practices ( no vaping/smoking) are the foundation. Doing expensive treatments without a good foundation is like pushing a Boulder up a hill
