- We have swapped glaciers for palm trees - I'm in Portugal visiting my parents! This life truly is the OPPOSITE of mine so I thought I would share a day in my life here in the sun. @@olkaolka9092 I am aware that it is her job. Just because a lot of people work during their own vacations doesn't mean that it should be considered a norm. Everybody deserves to take a time off their jobs and spend time doing other stuff (if they want to/need to). It is good for the soul.🙏

My parents retired to Mexico for 11 years (we are from the US, just north of Chicago), and it was always so lovely to visit them every year. While on the one hand I was happy they moved back in the end, I also very much miss visiting where they lived, as it was real Mexico.
I'm from CA and that beach and area in Portugal looks Amazing. I think if my parents lived in a place like that I would visit more often! It's wonderful you can visit your sister and have quality time with your niece. Family is so important and we should all visit our families as much as possible. In this crazy world we live in we never know what tomorrow may bring.Enjoy your vacation and best wishes on your run.

Hello from USA....Im glad to see you getting some much needed sunshine. I worry when you dont get sun..We as human being we need some sunshine. i think polar days and nights can mess up the rhythm of your bodies. plus warmer weather gives you so much to do and enjoy, you can walk through the forest and have complete joy , peace. the birds are chirping the wind in the trees and then you are surrounded by complete silence. its just a beatuiful thing.....Love your videos

I'm from the States and went to Porto and Lisbon on my first trip to Europe. You will absolutely love Porto! loved the Portuguese sardines (brought tons home for family and friends), and had the river cruise and wine tasting in Porto. One of my best trips ever.
Portugal is beautiful and your parents’ home is absolutely stunning. I can see why you enjoy going back so often - I can feel such a zen energy from there through my phone.

It is so interesting how you noticed the opposite effect of the sunlight because the dark nights allow you to re-energize! So fascinating how the body adapts and shifts to its environment. Portugal is gorgeous, I can't wait to visit some day!

Thanks again for taking us along with us to your parents home! I love too love Portugal, my father was born in S. Miguel Azores and I’m fortunate to have a family home there. Like the Algarve tourists and expats are really changing the affordability for the locals. It’s a double edged sword really, tourism creates jobs which they lacked before but the influx of people pushes the cost of living SO much higher.
Cecilia, it was nice meeting you and Grimm today on our hike! What a great place Svalbard is, we luckily got a ride back from a guide instead of walking the additional 10km+ back to Longyearbyen. Thanks for taking the time to chat with us!

Went on a hike Sarkofagen, snow was very rotten and hard hike. We are checking out Mine 3 tomorrow and maybe the brewery tour. What else should we do?? Is there a way to walk to the other side of the fjord?

I don't miss snowy Svalbard but am addicted to your adventures with Cristofer and Grim. The Algarve coast is stunning, and I would move there in a heartbeat if I could afford it. Your parents are so fortunate and their home is lovely, and so are you being able to visit such a paradise whenever you want.

What a beautiful place to visit! I'm not a sun worshipper, but once in a while, heat is nice. Your parent's house is amazing! You get the best of both worlds. As an adoptee I've never seen anyone who looks like me, so when I see families with a strong resemblance to each other I have such a weird fascination. Especially families that seem to actually like each other! You are so lucky! Great video, thanks for sharing. :)
I don’t watch your channel because of Savlbard, I watch for you whether you live in Svalbard, Portugal or move here to NYC. It’s a beautiful place. I worked with 3 Portuguese women decades ago & they were so sweet. Always trying to feed me😂. Swallows are insane! They zip around me at the park & somehow don’t crash into me. Stay awesome dear one!❤️

I live in the US and we have a covering for windows that goes right on the window and blocks the sunlight. It’s mostly used for night workers that sleep days. Perhaps you could look on line and buy some for at least your bedroom window.

Thanks for sharing. It's still different for me and it's great to experience other climates. You may remember, in Sydney we have no twilight so even when we have daylight saving there is no sunlight past 8 pm.

I love the longer days of summer. Right now it doesn’t get dark till almost 10pm. I thrive in the summer. The winter months zaps my energy.

I visited Porto in like 2014. Which was a very long time ago, but it doesn't feel that way. It was wonderful. I loved it. Highly recommend!
Re: this light at 9pm. I live in Saint Petersburg, Russia. In the summer we have what the locals call 'white nights'. Since may to July/August it doesn't get fully dark. At 2 am it's light. It's getting darker around 11-12pm. At 4am we already have sun rising. So yeah, I can believe it. It's been my life & i Can't wait to buy myself some blackout curtains bc it's a struggle, the same as Midnight sun.

That is like having a resort all to yourself. Amazing. I've never been to Portugal but have been to Spain and Majorca and detect some of the same vibes. My favorite type of vacation and my retirement fantasy.

With all the respect Cecilia for your country and nature there… and maybe I would like to visit some parts of Scandinavia, but nothing for me would compare to the Mediterranean climate… food, seasons, temperature, culture, the friendliness of many in those regions!!! The beauty of the beaches… man it’s spectacular! Myself, I love the Mediterranean lifestyles..

I'm spending a week in mainland Portugal with a friend who lives in the Lisboa area in July and then I'm going to the Azores for another two weeks, so it's exciting to see that you've also been there and recommend it! I'm excited to go and also a little nervous, it's been a good while since I've travelled solo and I only speak basic Portuguese :) I'm used to being in Italy where I speak the language reasonably well so it's going to be different!
I think fabric roll blinds in your living room and kitchen might help you during the midnight sun. Something like brown or blue transparent fabric that you open in the evening would help your body calm down and get ready for bed. I've used dark blue chiffon curtains for years as I also struggle with the amount of light in the summertime.
I love your mom and dads house, it's beautiful. I could leave the mountains of Colorado for a few weeks to vacation in the Algarve.
