In the time that it took to make and release these, this video has now got over 10,000 views (12,469 at the time of writing). I find it kind of crazy that something as simple as a background of a main menu for a game made 15 years ago can still get this amount of attention. This was just meant to be my PC dynamic wallpaper that I thought 1 or 2 others might be interested in.
I want to keep making these kind of videos, but I'm not entirely sure what to do next. I have a couple of ideas like the Civ 5 intros (which the first one is being uploaded and is here, ruclips.net/video/aNR48jR1G1w/видео.html ). So I just want to ask, what would you like to see? More Medieval 2? More Total War? Maybe something different?

Medieval 2 backround looks like spirits of the dead soldiers traveling to afterlife
I think that's supposed to be the idea. Rather than marching in formation, maybe this is supposed to represent the order in which they died. It's pretty creative
mate they are just representing the crusaders marching randomly somewhere in desert tbh

Gosh, This brings me back to when I saw this main menu for the first time. Sinister music with Lifeless soldiers marching, showing how dark and cruel war is. To this day, I still think it's one of the best main menu screen ever in video game history.

I have played this game for years, and I just realized the men are chanting “kyrie eleison”, Greek for “Lord Have Mercy” which is commonly said at Catholic mass.
Best part of the whole thing, along with the solemn marching forward towards fate.
I didn't even knew they said kyrie eleison!

Actually there are two contenders for that title, and it really depends on which time period you're most interested in.

@@limyhvs2931 Mb it was less successfull due to overload of different new mechanics. As for me, it was rather uncomfortable to manage technology trees and whole new warfare. And the Empire ost is not as cool as previous games :/

I think that's what they were going for. These are men that are moving on into the afterlife. Sort of like the scene in Pirates of the Caribbean of the dead on the boats.

Judging by their recent games I wouldn't be that excited or hyped for any new game they might release. Unless you like the cartoon graphics and arcade gameplay that involves looking at unit icons more than the units itself.
If CA does make Medieval 3 then I doubt it will end up like 2 unless they focus specifically on what made 2 popular.

I know that Jeff nor Angela would probably see this message, but this music and the game has gotten me through the toughest of time, the idea of men all being in the same troubles of war seemed to be comforting to me. Nevertheless, I am right now using this music to fuel me to being my better self. It has been almost a year since I started university and this music has helped me to study and study I did, I am right now almost ready to leave this first year with straight A's and a 4.0GPA. I am one day hoping to become a doctor and will never forgive what this tune has done for me.

Tbh it was more simple really, now it gets confusing at times
@@Cvich760 It's kind of funny. I hear stamina and terrain, for one, basically doesn't matter in the newer Total War games, or at least compared to the ones of the old engine, implying simplicity, yet then they have these large expansive skill trees for generals that you still can't max in with the newly upgraded level caps in Warhammer 3 implying complexity. That being said, having played a fair bit of Warhammer 2, there definitely seem to be skills that are way more critical than others so on the surface it might look complex but in reality it isn't. But really I don't think my opinion is worth too much considering that my enthusiasm for Total War is recent, and my experience is comparatively miniscule.

Armys doesnt matter anymore, mostly are the generals and Spells, i could have 5 dwarven legions but still they can be blasted with a damn fireball, You know what i mean?

@@Cvich760 Dwarves literally have magic resistance and "fireball" is only good against single targets. I will say the battles are less impacted by terrain but iv still had battles with favorable terrain that turned a valiant defeat into a heroic victory

This song gives me a peaceful yet disturbing vibe like the uncertainty of war and nameless and faceless people marching into the afterlife after fighting and dying for what they believe in, it's almost poetic.
Of all Total War main menu music this is my most favorite main menu theme

The game could've been so much more if they devoted at least some more months to it, but they pretty much migrated to Warhammer
And even then you can't compare to this menu screen, it's everything a game about war and a more "violent" time frame needs
One of my favorite features in RTW and TWM2, it is quite immersive.

I love how they all walk with a purpose. They are going to war and, by God, they will be ready.
This is pretty much the Byzantine Empire theme (which later Serbs used the logo after the fall of Ottoman Empire).

The reason someone might feel a sense of impending doom may be due to the fact that the chant, as well as the speech, are both "Kyrie Eleison", which means "Lord have mercy" in Greek. So, it may be Byzantine soldiers asking for forgiveness by God as they're walking to their demise, either by sinning, or dying.
Not necessarily Byzantine, btw. The Roman Catholic church has been using a lot of Greek words and expressions (and still does). "Kyrie Eleison" is just one of them. During Med2's time frame, that is before Protestantism came about, any Christian would commonly use that phrase.
Folks thinking that medieval warfare was honourable and heroic. Then this music kicks in, the horror.....

I really wonder how warmen of medieval and ancient times would feel about the vibe of modern age war. I can't tell what is more terryfing. Being bombed by artillery and tanks, fighting an invisible enemy or fighting your enemy with sword right in front of you and see the thousdands of soldiers who are right in front of you to come after that guy.

I checked it out, I can hear the similarity, the ominous tone, but whatever is playing in the show it sounds distinctly faster, so no, I don't think so.

The beginning is an actual Gregorian chant. It’s Kyrie “Lux et Origo”. (Lux et Origo is like the theme of a group of chants. This is typically used for Easter).
This is among the top 5 game soundtracks ever. Including Zelda links awakening (for gameboy), Heroes of might and magic 4 (no, not 3) from Anthony Romero, AOM etc. Absolutely spectacular, you can't find similar one over RUclips if you search, it doesn't have the same kick. But what makes a game music stand out is the ability to blend in with the game itself. Remaster MW2 all you want, it won't ever be like the original. Very few games truly stand out for their music and no, it isn't just chants like those awful ones like Skyrim and such, those games are trivial lads. Special games are rarely made and you need to have a keen eye to spot them. This is one of them (it is the only one from total war franchise to do it).
