I live in California, and last year we had six deer grazing in our side yard within fifteen feet of the house. They stayed there for almost three hours before they moved off down the hill into the woods.It is great to share the land with the wildlife.

Boy the weather really has been beautiful lately! Been trying to get outside and enjoy it every day. Glad to see I'm not the only one with a ton of sticks to clean up this year. Thanks for sharing. Glad nothing serious happened to your daughter and her deer encounter.

I like my shredder & so do the chickens, worms & bugs. I also use the twigs for kindle, which I gather when I take the pups & goats for a walk on our land in. I just grab an empty feed sack & drag if along as we check out various animal trails. I try to make lots of noise so that the wild life know to skidaddle. I sure enjoy your videos, they are so informative. (PS. I bought a shock collar for my 14 yr old, arthritic, deaf lab/pit mix who followed his nose [he passes away last summer & I sure miss him]; I'd vibrate the collar when we were ready to head home & he always came back within minutes. Maybe you could use a collar like that to 'educate' your pups).
Hey Mike, why not configure one of those IBC totes as a firewood bucket? It fits on your forks, just cut the entire front of it out all the way to the sides, and the bottom (but leave the top bar for reinforcement). You could drop it right by the wood splitter and toss your wood in it as you split. With the front cut open entirely all it would take is a strap around the back of the forks to hold it to your RK55 and you could dump the firewood out by the pile. Wold save you having to pick it up again to put it in the bucket, other than the few pieces that fall on the ground.
Mike and Melissa, you guys out working together are my favorite videos. It brings back great memories of my wife Ruth. We were together for 49 years. She was my childhood sweetheart and my soulmate. Our favorite thing was to be in the outdoors working or just enjoying nature and each other. Thank you for sharing with us, Paul

Those Chickens are well trained in Not going onto the road. Thank God for the Daughter Not getting hurt from the Deer accident. And the Beautiful Melissa, Not a smidgen of dirt on your outfit after helping out !!!
Also just started to work on the lawn today by trimming trees with the pole saw and picking up branches with the L3200. Great minds work alike. Love seeing your furry friends helping you with the wood.
Nice video Mike . Always a treat when you have your famiy in the video . First time I saw someone scoup up firewood with a bucket . LOL . I hit a deer in PA once years ago . Lucky it was small one . Stepped out to check the damage . Lucky only the licence plate holder was damaged . 2 in the morning . Just bought the Buick . A guy in a pick up truck stopped behind me and asked what I was going to do with the deer . My car drove right over it . I told him I don't know . He asked if he could have it . Sure I said . He threw it in the back of his pick up and away he went with next days dinner . Even saw a few homes with deer cut out of plywood and painted black on some front lawns . Some people try to be funny . Lucky you don't have to worry about moose . Hit one of those suckers and it's going right through the windshield . Almost hit 2 deer one night near Niagara Falls . This time it was in my new truck . Deer . Grrrrr .
Myself and my 3 year old spent all afternoon Sunday picking up and burning sticks! And he is great at running a leaf rake also! Eager to help and learn!
Getting the yard ready for spring sticks and twigs, I always get the land rake attachment out first. Added bonus it agitates the roots jump starts the grass

You are making me jealous... I had a jump on the wood pile too, almost done until I slipped on ice at work. Down and out, going on week three. Good thing about it... no one is going to touch the wood pile to finish it 😝
What happened?
Outdoors With The Morgans slipped on an ice patch. Slack contractor hired to clean walkways been going on for couple years. It messed up my SI joint. Very painful. I go to work hobbling but the work around here is on hold.
Mike, I’ve been a fan of your channel since the early days and will always be a fan. But man you and your OCD with stacking wood cracks me up. Thought I was the only one, I’m that way with cooking my bbq ribs for contest. Anyway, just a little teasing, think spring. Take care

It's great watching you two work together. While Iwas watching , I thought that it might be a good idea to attach a pine rake to Sherman and use it to collect the branches and the leaves along the front. At our place all of those limbs will go back to our WoodMaxx Chipper to be turned back into mulch along with the leaves. Makes a great material to throw back on the Lawn. Happy Spring!!
Hannah, don’t feel bad. After getting my daughter her Crosstrek, one day, for some reason, she hit the garage button again before it opened all the way. This just stops the door. She then backed out, sliding under the door the top of the Crosstrek above back window until it got against the antennae piece. Then the garage door got bent out before she got stopped. No dents in Crosstrek but some really good scratches!!! Body shop it went!! I straightened garage door myself.
Nice video guy's. I'm glad your daughter wasn't hurt and only minor damage to your car. The wife hit a deer two weeks after she got her new van with only 200 mile on it. Took out the fender, core support and headlight assembly. Happy Spring!

Mike... Save Melissa from getting blisters from doing all that raking. Stihl Kombi System Power Sweep attachment is the ticket! Gravel and sticks in the lawn are no match. Got mine from Rural King in Heartland MI.

Yeah. Doing firewood produces lots of sticks and off cuts. What do you do with them? A chipper would make a great by-product market. Huge piles of wood chips people are wanting for gardens and mushrooms.

Spring chores, how quaint... Still looking at 24" plus of snow up here in the highlands. Not much down in the valley though. Maybe by the middle of April I will be where you guys are at. Good job on the yard & stop bossing Melissa around. Lol... Glad to see you went easy on your daughter. Last month a deer ran into the right rear qtr of my new Outback & left a dent just below the fuel filler door. When I got home, I bopped it with my fist & it popped right out... Next day a German Shepherd did the same thing in the same area. I saw him running back up his d/way, with a good head ache no doubt.
Mike, how would the grapple bucket work for picking up the firewood from the pile.
In NY there is a ban on burning brush statewide from March 15 to May 15, go figure, we have to wait until it drys out to burn. All comes from Long Island where it is dry and sandy and the dry grass burns easily. WNY is just like your area, you cant start a fire in the winter if you wanted to.

Five to 10" inches of snow with 35 mph winds forecast for here tomorrow and Saturday. Yup, spring is almost almost here.
I live in Ohio and the deer are bad here also! Get a set of deer whistles or horns! They do work! I actually had some deer running towards the road when I came upon them! They actually landed on their haunches and turned and ran the other way!
I bult a firewood bucket extender with 1, 8' 2x12" and a sheet of " green" Zip plywood. cut the 2x in 1/3rds and put flat on bucket one on each side and one in middle cut ply to length of bucket minus 1" set ply on the 2x's leaving 1/2" on each side. drive a wedge on top of ply to top of bucket.This should hold it tight to the 2x's while you screw ply to the 2's. with the wedge holding everything firm you can raise the bucket to hip hight and rip the ply to 32" with a 16" rem-nit take this and cut 2 32" pieces cut and shape to make sides slide them into the 1/2" slots and screw them to the edge of the 2x"s. My bucket had holes in the upper corners and I bolted the sides there to the bucket. I still load it by hand , but more then doubled the capacity.
15:25 Years ago I hit a big Buck with my 91' Ford F150. It looked like I hit a tree. Cracked the water pump, cracked the battery, blew out both headlights. 60 MPH hit. I didn't even have time to hit the brakes. 400 yards from the plant entrance to work, for an overtime shift.

This is the ritual we go through every year. I love the simplicity of the task, and I can get some great thinking done while picking up sticks. But......the inventor in me has ideas on how the tractor can do it!! Stay tuned! Another well done video!
I was always taught to stack wood split side down as much as possible. Water will run off the bark or rounded sides but soak into the split portions.
I was going north on The Me.turnpike when a southbound tractor trailer hit a deer that went airborne and right into the grille of my Chevy van. You wouldn’t believe the damage not to mention the clean up before the repairs could even begin.
Great video Mike, Melissa and Hanna. Hanna you listened and followed some of the best advice your parents could give you. I know how proud they are that you listened to them. Keep up the good work, you have a lot of living to do enjoy it all!

Never swerve is excellent advice. I swerved once to miss a dog and ended up with a fractured back.

Both of you have a git r done attitude. Good you got a day to some outside work. In central PA we have so few days and or evenings to be able to work outside. Mu son and I did manage to cut up and haul a pine that fell in the wind a week or so ago.

A little bossy, every job needs a boss. Glad your daughter wasn't hurt, as a retired police officer I can tell you ( don't over react, maneuver for a deer. It's better to slow down, not slamming on the break ) it's just a car, it can be replaced. You can not be replaced.

for when you're burning all you have to do is call your county dispatch office ( 911 center ) and let them know you are doing a leaf/stick burn so they can ignore the calls that come in.. they will most likely advise you to let your local Fire Co know also..

Good advice to just slow down if a deer gets in your way. Being somewhat familiar with how insurance companies work, there are incidences of people who hit the ditch to avoid a deer are not covered under their insurance. Your life is a lot more important than risking going off road or putting someone else's life in danger of oncoming traffic.

Good advice on Do Not Swerve !! Back i the 60's & 70's, on Rt. 18 in Raccoon Twp, my Dad would actually speed up to outrun the deer. Dad is 88 and he has yet to hit a deer.

Amen on stopping in a straight line to try and avoid critters in the road! Common sense says don't put your life or someone else's life in jeopardy by swerving your vehicle in the road to try and miss an animal! But common sense has all but vanished in today's world.

Try using the grapple to pick up the firewood pile.
I too, am curious how the grapple would handle that pile of firewood. Of course, you'd still have to get under it, but it wouldn't grab so much debris.
I have to tell you that your gravel sprinkling technique is awesome! I spread 12 tons of #57 yesterday and after the third bucket I was unstoppable! Thanks!
Try using grapple to move split wood.

Should cut a taller pallet in half and use that for your ends that way you dont have to crib your ends anymore. Free pallets everywhere. I hate having to crib my ends. I say 2 cords. Get her own leaf blower. Get a Echo 58v cordless.
We did a little bit of spring cleanup here last weekend, but still need to do some more. Not working much this weekend since my parents traveled pulling their camping trailer from New Mexico to here in Florida. This weekend we are camping on our property while enjoying the daytime temperatures in the mid 70's and enjoying their company.
As far as hitting deer, my window is closing to bush hog and cut some areas of our property since the deer will be giving birth soon and they love to bed down in some of the areas that I want to cut (very tall grass/shrubs). I have heard stories from other people around our area of accidentally hitting newborn fawns. I want no part of that. I can cut next fall/winter.
Well team work gets the job done and nice commentary Melissa... Thankfully the deer accident was minor easier fixing sheet metal than mending broken bones..
Was coming back to GA after visiting my Dad in Corry, PA and just south of Pittsburg saw several deer standing on the side of the road. I slowed down and passed them. Just after I passed one deer ran out onto I-79 and a car in the fast lane hit the deer and it went flying head over heel into the median. Good thing Hannah is OK the car can be fixed.

Still have 18 to 24 inches of snow on the ground here in NE Wisconsin. My girls ( Autumn, Anna and Shadow also goldens) love helping us clean the sticks up also. Chewing everyone into mulch. We still have a few weeks before spring cleaning. Enjoy your videos.

There were a couple of sticks that were too big, but a decent lawn mower would chop the rest up into nutrients.
P.S. Back in the 1970's I ran into some statistics that showed more deer were road killed in PA than killed by hunters in the state that I live in. We have had an explosion of deer since then. There were also 300 bears road killed in PA that year.

Bumper covers ain't bad to swap. Pretty lucky. Cost me $280 for one for my wife's van last year painted and I put it on. Sad part is if I would of hit it in the truck it wouldn't of cost a dime with the big steel bumper.
I will agree with Melissa raking is a good way to get exercise I would rather do somethings by hand for the extra exercise.
I still wash cars by hand it is easier it takes longer but I feel it is more of a detailed job then going to a car wash as well as saves money
I thought I might have been the only one to talk to deer! There’s a family of about 7-8 that hang around, and almost every evening are creeping closer and closer to get the first look at my days work on the “woodlot”. I give a nice chat, but it’s a bit one-sided...🤷🏻♂️
You probably noticed that deer stomping its front legs to tell you to clear out. You did!!
