  • This evening Melissa and I cut some firewood up using the Stihl MS 462, The RK 37 Compact Tractor with Forks, and the LogOX. I also tried out the 37 to see if it would pick and carry a large repurposed IBC tote filled with hardwoods.

Justin here from Louisiana, I want to thank you! I'm in my late 20s and just bought some property and a Kubota M5140 with a grapple and I have been watching your videos now for a few months and learning from your smooth grapple techniques. It has definitely helped in multiple situations thus far where I would have handled it differently if I had not seen how you have handled things.

Good job Mike & Melissa... This video exemplifies exactly why I need forks! In the meantime I am saving up for a 3PH mounted salted/sand spreader for the upcoming winter & then the forks.
Never had a doubt with respect to the RK37 lifting those loaded totes. Your paying customers must appreciate the good value in that these large totes hold a a bit over a 3rd of a cord, so (3) tightly packed totes should equal a heavy cord. I know only too well about the tricks many firewood sellers play on people, as in stacking it in tight on the end & throwing it in loose behind creating the illusion of a lot more wood than than there really is.
    Thanks,
    Bill on the Hill... :~)

I guess as long as you have lots of help it doesn't matter how much you handle your wood. I work alone so I try to minimize unnecessary handling. You are truly a lucky man! Hey, once you get that sawmill you won't have to be buying those expensive 4x4's anymore. It's great having your own lumber! I use all the less than choice lumber to put under all my attachments to keep them off the ground when I'm not using them.

Mike, I agree on the assbly line process, I do the same, seems like I do a better job at what I am doing if I do not try to do too many aspects at one time, sure you may handle the wood a little more, but heck when the splitter goes through a small dump truck in an hour, you get your time back.

Mike, regarding your back pain. I injured my back several years ago and I continue to cut fire wood. The key for me is to keep my saw weight just under 10 pounds. I have two saws, one is a steel and one is an echo, both 18 inch bars. Both are only a couple ounces differences. With oil and gas a little over 10 pounds. I cut alot of wood and the couple pounds lighter saves the back. If I use a 12 to 14 lb saw, 30 minutes my back is killing me

A thought for a future video, if you could round up enough help; you bucking the logs like you did here and have two people putting directly onto wolf ridge while another splits it. Then if you really have a lot of energetic people you could have two more stacking into the totes, by my count that would be 5 plus you. Might be tripping over each other, but it would be impressive to see. Hi Hunter!

Best It can do is a loose stacked with the front cut out so that the wood is sloping from the back to the front. This should also apply to the john deere 3032e and 3038e also. Not dissatisfied at all with my john deere though because it is only rated to lift around 1100 lbs I believe Great videos mike .
