I want to do this but What keeps the water from ruining the solders and connections into the push terminals? Seems like a couple steps were left out. Thanks!

Those open wire of push switch aren't dangerous...as they r dipped in water may cause short circuit?
12v dc wont cause any situation at first and then they were covered under hot glue and made waterproof.
