Thanks for this. I've had a rotator cuff injury for three decades, my GP said most likely caused by playing too much squash. I had Cortizone, then physio, then a referral for surgery but when they explained there was a good risk that would make it worse I declined and decided to live with the hit to my mobility. It's not terrible. Reaching upwards is the main issue. Anyway I'm going to try this out for sure. Just received your book by the way and am working my way through it. Thanks again.

Medicine men have liability. Saying "don't do it" will always be their default advice. I listen to my doctor, but I decide what is right for me.

  • @krane15
    @krane15 27 дней назад +1

    Excellent.
My only issue with this video and others like it is that if we stop whenever we start to experience pain we won't do much of anything. Thing is, we need to know how to interpret pain and the difference between what 's good and bad pain. In other words, the threshold to that bad injury damage pain.
For years after my shoulder injury I followed the "if its painful stop doing it" rule and my shoulder injury stayed exactly the same. Recently, I decided to push through the pain, and I've been experiencing improvements in mobility, strength, and lower overall pain every since.
As you say, strengthen the muscles around the joint. And strengthening require resistance which produces some pain. Just take it slowly and learn to recognized the pain of training from the pain of damage to an injury.

Ok I gave this a thumbs up just because I know that it’s going to work for some but I have arthritis in said shoulder as well as rotator cuff issues so I’m going to try this without any weight added first then go from there. Extra weight is generally not good for the arthritis issues. I’ll try it though because I’m really tired of this gimpy shoulder thing. It’s so discouraging

I can’t even do that with no weight currently, after a rotator cuff injury 3 days ago due to a fall. I searched your previous rotator cuff injury videos, and found exercises I can do, eg the resistance against your other hand, and the Lacrosse ball between your shoulder blade and wall. These seem good for me till I’m fit to possibly return to try this video again. I also looked at your video using a resistance band to help build up strength, and will give that a try when I get one.
Your videos have helped me with other issues, might be time to pry the cash out of my wallet and get your book 😊👍🏻
    Thank’s Will

Hello, after I tried your glutes exercise my numb left thigh, pelvis floor, hip and knee pain went away. I then look into your channel to see if you have anything for shoulder pain. I found this video. My left shoulder hurt for about 5 months now. I couldn't even wash my hair or tie my hair up using my left hand because when I lifted my left arm it hurt really bad. All of my hip, pelvis floor, knee and shoulder pain started when I entered menopause. I was going to see an OBGYN for hormone replacement therapy to see if it help ease my pain. I did this exercise this morning 100times with two pounds dumbell on my left arm. The pain in my left arm has gone down significantly. I just washed my long hair and dried them using both hands. It felt so good that I am able to use both hands now. Thank you very much for your help.

    I had that.
With a little advice here and my own trick.
Hold both arms straight up and as far behind as you can.
Then .Open and shut your fingers as fast as possible. You'll be surprised how out of breath You'll be be in 30 seconds.
You don't strain that pesky muscle but you get the blood moving there.
I now manage 2 minutes daily.
And I'm well out of breath.
BUT that pain is gone and healed.
I can now reach over into the back of the car to pick up things on the back seat

Stand up, let your arm dangle, make a loose fist, bend your wrist inwards as much as is comfortable, release. Repeat as much as you can, do this several times a day. This advice came to me from Micheal van Straten, who used to be LBC's radio health guy years ago. This exercise fixed a long ongoing problem for me that I had suffered and been ineffectively treated for years. MVS said he had this exercise from a sports physio. I shall remain eternally grateful, this one worked for me in only a few weeks.

There is no such thing as a pain free solution. Just keep that in mind, that if you choose to do nothing, it will only get worse, and it will still hurt.

Many gyms have a chest butterfly machine that goes both directions. This looks similar to one of the directions.

It is. Except the machine won't allow you to cross the chest. You could use a cable, however.

I wish there was a magic exercise for my shoulder/rotator cuff problem - 16 months with a physio & many exercises hasn't found it. Waiting for an MRI & X-Rays.

Try Dr Locks big 3 exercises for shoulder pain on youtube. Have been thru a few shoulder rehab programs but when I had a complete tendon detachment tear, some of the standard rehab exercises caused more pain. I started Dr Locks exercises without any weights, and within 2 weeks about 75% of the pain had subsided.

Good luck. All that was useless for me so I figured out my own solution using machines beginning with zero weight and just going through the motion: 1/4 > 1/2 > 3/4, etc. Still not at full range yet, but stay tuned.

Can this be done by someone with tendonitis in the shoulder? Will it help?

Could this be done with a thera-band as well ?

I imagine the effect would be different as with a free weight you engage different muscles while going down and up, plus balancing it during movement requires more muscle coordination. I'm no specialist though

Funny how you call 2 kilos not much weight. I struggle with 1 pound. 😂 But the exercise as such seems to help. 😊
