Thank you for the memories you gave of your days in this glorious countryside we have both in the UK and Ireland. I bet no tv channel will re show this box set!! Even though he helped this country raise the greatest trophy in football a sport this country is passionate about!! Raise your glass of Guinness or likewise to.a men who by reading all the sad responses to his death cherished this man grandfather and great grandfather!!

Bless you Jack up there, I followed all this and you can't shoot pheasants, you weren't made to, everything else, your the man, the ferret lost in the hole, probs with this episode we didn't see Jack, too hecktic, when its slow pace and we see and hear Jack speak, we see an absolute gentle man, the finest, I rate you 100 out of 100 Jack, night, god bless Jack.

This picture is so familiar? I wonder is it taken from the October 1981 issue of Sporting Gun they covered a shooting estate in the Cotswolds? Those were the days when the Sporting Gun was worth reading not like the shit that they print today and the magazine was twice the size and less than half the price.

My youth and half my adult life was spent immersed in field sports of all kinds, and just like Big Jack I collected bird eggs as a boy. Jack would be turning in his grave at the state of his beloved hunting in this country today, absolutely destroyed by people with absolutely no idea of the subject, who see the countryside and its animals as some Disney cartoon. These campaigners and do gooders often do much more harm than any hunter ever did. The illegal release of thousands of American mink on numerous occasions comes to mind. Britain is a laughingstock to the rest of the world today, a country owned and run by criminals who are hellbent on running it into the ground by allowing millions of immigrants to suck at the tit while our own ex service men sleep rough on the streets and our OAP's cannot afford to put their heating on in winter. You are better off out of it Big Jack.

I personally never took to the driven shoot I prefer to go cross country with 1 good dog and a good reliable single barrel gun.
I think its more sportsman like and fairer to the pheasant/grouse/partridge etc
My own favourites are woodcock and snipe.
Better test of mind and reflexes.

Lovely series. I've watched nearly all of them since I discovered them here. I used to shoot but gave it up because I lost interest and was much more into fly-fishing. I think I'll go out and get a shotgun again.

@@SuperOlds88 Does it make any difference if they're rich or poor, gentlemen or ordinary men? We can all get out and enjoy the countryside. I've done both types of shooting....driven days and also days thrashing through thick cover working spaniels shooting a variety of game...pheasant, woodcock, snipe, woodpigeon. Each type of shooting has it's own attractions. I've seen footage of "hunters" in the u.s. dressed in high Viz shooting pheasants that were being released from a barn loft window!! Now that's something to complain about!!
