Wow thank you so much. My professor he was in his 60s a previous clinical and medical psychologist. I remember he showed us this massive book and stated “it keeps getting bigger and bigger there’s nothing wrong it just means we are learning more.”
I must admit I'm guilty of diagnosing myself and others. If I read or hear something about a mental or physical disease or illness, my mind starts racing and I think that I or someone close to me has it! Thank you for this helpful video - It showed me that I really need to work on this and realize that not everyone suffers from every kind of illness!
I love Better help mostly because i have a very close friend with mental illnesses and am always watching their videos to learn more about his conditions. I am learning new things like DSM-V i never knew about
Identifying the symptoms of DSM-V can be the first step in getting support and treatment. This is excellent and detailed explanations! Thanks for sharing this video!
Truly relevant facts.. DSM-V should be carefully done only by mental health professionals and doctors. Stay blessed for sharing such informative videos.
What a quite interesting video I've found! No matter what disorder one believes is going through, it is always wise to consult a licenced professional because sometimes things may not be exactly as they look. Thanks for sharing this with us! I'll be looking forward to watch your next videos.
I always come to this channel looking for helpful information and i never fail. I just like the way you always give us a short but at the same time effective explanation of things related to mental Health. Thanks
A roadmap to the proposed changes to personality disorder diagnosis in DSM-V. Posted Feb 10, 2010. The American Psychiatric Association is in the middle of a historical revision to its diagnostic "Bible", the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
No matter what disorder one believes is going through, it is always wise to consult a licenced professional because sometimes things may not be exactly as they look
so often, some persone is dealing with challenging situation never ask about help, and feels hard pain or smth else, we should care about each other and help. You do right way and correct mission, wish good progress for your project
I really appreciate psychology and I enjoy researching mental illness using the DSM-V. I try very hard not to allow myself to self-diagnose as well. Psychology is very important to me and I have a lot of respect for professionals, but I only really look at fictional characters and how accurate/ inaccurate a mental illness is portrayed (especially DID) rather than actual people I know. I’m glad that you posted this video because I have friends who have self-diagnosed and caused a lot of problems for themselves because of it.
@4:40 I could have kissed her, irony notwithstanding. It's the second half of the sentiment that is so frequently forgotten. You don't need a disorder to need help. If you need help, it doesn't mean you have a disorder.
Thank you for the clear explaination. I live in a community that often comments that someone is on the 'spectrum' just because of a quirk in their personality. Mentioning the need of 7 symptoms or the significant distress or impairment in areas of life, help clarify the issue.
Got curious about BetterHelp because of the videos that are against you. I did a research about the site and it looks legit and helpful. Keep up! Love your videos!
Diagnostic and Statistical Manual Medical Definition of DSM. i have heard the term DSM-V on multiple occasion from different sources but didn't have enough idea about it. however watching this video helped a lot in learning new facts about DSM-V.

Because the dsm is actually done in away to be 100 percent certain you will be labled with something. Everyone has one are more ways that they struggle with in life that hinder your performance. Psychiatry uses the term disorder when it's deceptive. Disorder mean's a genectic defect none has been proven in psychiatry. They have not proven any mental problem is a disorder because they don't know the biology behind them if any at all is present. Psychiatry is more about opinion than anything. Plus the dsm is done in a way to get the insurance company $$$$. The DSM goes with cultural norm's an actual science does not care about social norm's. A person may not succeed in life because life beat's them down. That is not all in your head in that case. Even if it is in your head a thought emotion and so on is not a disease unles you have proven genetics. Psychiatry keep's trying to find the genectic cause of schizophrenia bipolar adhd depression and so on none has be found. Why do you think with every study they say we think we have found the cause of this mental disorder or that one ? It's because they do not know. But instead they think they have found it. What if all mental disorder's are caused by the life circumstances the person is exposed to ? Than it would not be just in their head but a life circumstance. What if these problem's are to do with nutritional deficiencies? Then the drug company and psychiatry will not benifite.
@@shanestrickland5006 Dude, you know what i believe? I believe with the world evolving, knowledge also evolving. It means there will be a time when we dont need meds for mental disorders. Maybe because of cure(s) or government(s) finally ban psychiatry field, etc. Who knows right? Lets just hope... or contribute in this psychiatry field. Last but not least, i apologise if you dont understand what i wrote (by wrote, i meant all of them). English is not my first language.
I really need to buy one of these and I don't know where to so do you like buy this on amazon? I'm just starting to learn this subject professionally so I don't know anything, hope someone could help.
