I absolutely love this game. It wasn't a greatly made game but that's actually a big reason why I liked it. It actually felt like a game. Too many games don't feel like games.
Gamesta100 I can say there were some very cool aspects of the game. I loved the story and the characters, but the messed up controls left me a little disappointed.
Is it just me or does SEGA 75% of the time make games that have great potential and cool original ideas just to be brought down by another aspect of the game being lackluster? So many times they are so close to greatness but just fall short. Also I completely agree about getting good feedback when you're doing damage. Visual damage is awesome but a great sound affect goes a long way. Like the sound effects of a well timed punch in a fighting/beat em up is fantastic. I always find it weird though when I play the original NES Contra where the first boss makes a metal ricochet noise to mean you're doing damage when most games it means you're not. Throws me right off for a sec every time.
I have this for PS3 and I always make a effort to playthrough it at least once a year. I enjoy the plot (even if I feel it ended too suddenly) though that may because of my love of Bladerunner, Terminator, and snatcher. And the controls work really well.
Avalanche Reviews Hopefully if they ever do a sequel or remake it they fix or just get rid of voice controls. And by the way I notice all the Snatcher art on your channel but no review of it? !?
I really really like the story, but i honestly couldn't see myself playing through that game again. There's just not enough there, game play wise to keep me interested.
The trade embargo with Cuba really should end. I mean come on, isn't the Cold War over already? But more importantly, I want to go there and listen to music. Urge Overkill's "Sister Havana" just doesn't cut it anymore.
I played this on a console and didn't have much trouble with the voice commands. Oh, don't get me wrong I'm not saying they worked. I'm just saying that from the get go I didn't have a head set, so I started using the d-pad and saying "yes" to everything avoiding the frustration entirely. It's a strange quirk to be sure, but one I was okay with given how much fun the game was otherwise.
Media Musings It's true! You can say yes for every response! I had some real fun with it, but there were issues with the PC ports that really dragged it down.
+wh3nderson95 I can't remember the soundtrack being a stand out, but it has been a long time since I played this. Might need to look up the ost real quick.
I played through this game once when it came out. I found my experience largely enjoyable. Adored the story. I tried to play through again last year and realized that the gameplay just didn't stand up for a second run. I'm glad I didn't realize I hated the gameplay on my first play through. With how cynical I get, it's nice to enjoy a game here and there. haha
I'm not sure how familiar you are with the Yakuza franchise but it also didn't have a great start so I think there's potential for a sequel to fix things, although the likelihood of that happening is slim to non considering the games sales, because while Yakuza is great and all they really should take a break from it to begin doing something new. I mean seriously they already have a new Yakuza series in the works even though they finished Kiryu's story with 6.
Always looking for shooting games that are different compare other ones in the market Play demo find it enjoyable I hope the flaws for me dont ruin the experience for playing the game, replaying Surprise that Yakuza made this game i am really interesting Awesome and Honest Review
Good review. You put my on the fence with this game because i love a good sci fi story, but i don't want to have to get frustrated with the voice commands. Are they that important? can i just turn them off and still have a good game?
It plays easier on the PS3 that is where i picked it up years ago on the cheap used game shelf. Played through it once and traded it away after it was a decent experience but not something worth a second or third playthrough.
Exellent, THIS is the best test review I have seen to this game EVER !! I agree absolutly with your love-hate relationship here. It is to frustrating, yes
wow the story look way more interesting than I robot, great review bro you should say just watch the walk trough to enjoy the story rather than buy the game. It is a shame though the developer messed up the controller cause it could be a great game.
I just.got since I watched a lost of hidden gems by metal jesus ... tried it and liked but I want to get further but also got fallout 3 GOTYE haha also check vanquish thats great
+argenis cañez yeah makes sense, I've seen a total of 2 copies in my city. Luckily I found a used copy for $8. Grab it if you see it for a preferrable price.
I'm surprised you didn't like this more. I thought it was fantastic.
A lot of people said the same thing. I was actually thinking about giving it another try yesterday. May just install it again pretty soon.
Maybe may a off-the-cuff re-review after you do to see if you still think the same.
I think that might be in order for more than a couple of my videos.

I really like how you went in on all aspects of the game. The biggest thing it did for me was make me want to be playing Vanquish instead.

Matthew Dunaway The plot is amazing! That's why I wish I liked the gameplay more.

Matthew Dunaway Oh, it's coming...........one day soon
@@matthewdunaway7622 yakuza's producer had already talked about it

Thanks! If story is really important to you, you will probably like it. It's not a terrible game, it just isn't very good (except for the story)
Will you do a top 10 list of your all-time favorite games someday?

i think this should be a Trashed Classic because its a pretty underrated game
i enjoyed this game
I did too...............sort of.............in short spurts.
I was somewhat disappointed that you didn't mention the soundtrack at all.
+wh3nderson95 I can't remember the soundtrack being a stand out, but it has been a long time since I played this. Might need to look up the ost real quick.

The only problem with that is that your left responding to characters with multiple button prompts in the middle of all the action.
I enjoyed this game back when it came out. I think I'll play it when I get home from work today.

I think you're right. There's definitely room for improvement. I would absolutely like to see a sequel.
You can change to see XBOX Buttons or PC buttons, isn't automatic
Mine defaulted to keyboard prompts, which is good because I prefer a mouse and keyboard to a controller, for shooters.
Thanks man, You would be surprised how often I get that request.
The relationship status mainly affects the endings. If they all like you, you can get the good ending!
Always looking for shooting games that are different compare other ones in the market

I'll be honest, I've been feeling a bit of an itch to play this again myself.
Finally! A comment about trade embargos and alt rock.
this game is the Terminator game that we wanted for many years
that makes sense, but it was a little too easy to get the good ending. I just had to say yes to everything.
It's was disappointing as hell. Every time something great happened, something awful proceeded it.
Thanks a lot!

Roger Lynch Awesome! It seems like everyone either hates it or loves it. Glad to see there are some in the middle, like me.
Couldn't agree more

this actually can be a great rail shooter game
I loved the story, but I played the pc version, and the controls were wonky as fuck. it was almost impossible to do the stupid quick time events.
Thanks, in some way it was better than I had thought too, but in some ways its way worse.
Preaching to the choir.
Well done review
Good review

I've been meaning to check vanquish out. A lot of people have been telling me that it is amazing.
+Avalanche Reviews it's an amazing game but I've seen it a bit pricey around $50+ used
+argenis cañez yeah makes sense, I've seen a total of 2 copies in my city. Luckily I found a used copy for $8. Grab it if you see it for a preferrable price.
What if... Binary Domains sales failure was caused by this review...
You're doing this game disservice by not recommending it . Shame
