1:00 I have a interesting story about this. During my first SoC playthrough I accepted a mission that was about killing some "traitor" - don't remember the details tho. The traitor was at the exact location you show here and also there was Wolf's CORPSE and it layed in the fire barrel next to the traitor. I reloaded an old save before accepting the quest and went to the Army Warehouses and even then there was Wolf's corpse in the barrel. I don't know if this was some developer's intention or a bug or some old version only feature but its kinda interesting in my opinion. I can provide you some screenshots or video if you want :)
it's a bug, Wolf doesn't have a seat near the campfire, because all seats were taken and he straight up sits down the barrel. it can be prevented though
This iceberg is really good man and my favorite is the Stalker × Half-Life. Besides the stalker named Gordon and the whole gameplay similarities of both games, STALKER uses sounds from Half-Life and Counter-Strike. The horror screams, the wind and the howling wolf for some reason can be heard from afar. Even some gun sounds are quite similar.
Yeah you are right. I did not push the comparison further to not drag it for too long, but as I said you could make an entire video just on this topic.
Okay, so I've just had a weird thought. I was staring at the Altered Wheel artefact for a bit and the way it was 'moving'. Are artefacts alive? Because, the way they move around when they're out in the open is very... Life-like. The way some of them shake when next to a surface reminds me of walking? Or the way others shapeshift ever so slightly almost resembles some kind of breathing.
I'm suprised that codename outbreak is not on any of the stalker icebergs. Its technically not a stalker game, but without it there wouldn't be stalker
10:14 there are also some HL1 sound files, like in sound\ambient nd_outdoor, you can find rnd_horror.wav, which was originally the_horror1.wav if i recall correctly, along with other files in sounds\ambient andom
Tonight, most regular people are going to watch their favourite series on Netflx, one whole season in one night... But as for us stalkers...we have six episodes of Stalker iceberg in the dugout series...Iceberg marathon is on!
If you think about it besides his gameplay diferences, both are games recognized by his impresive ai system and you can technically say the history of both is about scientific experiments going wrong
It is a shame that original "Stalker: Oblivion Lost" plot is obscure for foreigners since literature script from 2003 and it's novellisation "Дети Зоны" ("Children of The Zone") by now deceased Sergey Ivanov (R.I.P., legend) is available only in russian and even here is obscure. When you read it you kinda understand all the blank spots, inconsistencies and weird parts of final lore - it is basically Frankenstein of OG lore and random amount of work from couple of autors that work after Ivanov - but neither of them have the time and possibilities to reinvent cohesive Zone world due to the development hell after 2004, so it was born as a mutant, which is kinda ironic. The biggest point that OG lore did is highlighting whole world events and make stalkers look more like escapists than the golddiggers. It's lore heavily inspired by the chaotic and dark times of CIS 90s and kinda evolves from it. Also it is heavily dives into the psy-theme - posthuman, psyonic wars, zombified cities and all of that. Hopes up for OLR 3.0 for making it justice (it will finally move to 2003 script), although it will only cover the first part of novel - the second part about outside world remains only in novel. Some parts of it, like Muraveinik and Controller-Army will be cool to highlight in future parts of the Iceberg.
I know this vid was posted long ago, but friend, the track You picked from half life as a background of the part with aforementioned game is perfect. It always thought it would fit stalker just fine, just have this specific underground vibe to it.
3:00 he was actually being tortured by "The Horror of Pripyat", a mutant that sadly got cut from the final game. It would have been an unusually powerful psy mutant that combined the plasmatic levitation of poltergeists, the cloaking of a bloodsucker and the mind control of a controller. When revealed by a scanner, it would have resembled a constantly shifting black cloud with tentacles that reach out and mindscrew enemies. Most notably, the poor old lt. drops to his knees during in the evacuation and screams "It's here!", suddenly remembering what it was that terrified him so much. This line and scripted event is still present in the final game.
Have you guys noticed that SOC in many case have some much better lighting effects and atmosphere compared to newer mods/versions, like Stalker Anomaly?
This was such an awesome video, there was something nostalgic about it, and I cannot wait for part #2. Also, thanks for info that I can break the Freedom base's wall using a knife, that will actually help my progression in future playthroughs.

I just realised you are already to 10k subs, VERY impressive i remember subbing to you when you had like 1k, you deserve 100K easily the amount of effort you put into these videos, keep going champ :D
8:40 Just a tidbit for the insane Freedom stalker, Max notes that the person saw something in the Bloodsucker village that drove him to his current state and after clearing Bloodsucker village a Controller starts wandering the area. Is there any possible corelation about the mutant's presence to the stalker's mental state? Theorising that the Controller might have been roaming the outskirts of the village and the Freedom stalker encountered it?
HEYYY!!! about the half-life there's a line from professor Sakharov before he tells tyou about town-32 and giving you the psi-helmet which he says that: "There was a major expedition on the western scientists there, who faced...let's say, SOME UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES"

However, I believe that if you shoot at them and then kill the controller they remain hostile, as in their eyes you just started shooting at them.
All I have are unclear hunches and vague data points but hear me out; I think the bulk of the mercenaries, the one's we'll call the trs-301 crowd, are ex- or current French Foriegn Legion members working on behalf of France. First, in our and I'm sure stalkers world France is a preeminent country when it comes to nuclear sciences and their development. It is safe to say they would be fairly interested in the this strange development of the Chernobyl disaster especially since its already established the Ukrainian govt was being obtuse for years to the other European countries about what it was finding in there. Second, the FFL contains many members from eastern European countries so gathering a sufficient number of Ukrainian or others who would conceivably be able to blend in wouldn't be too much of an issue. Third, France could potentially have the space to be more heavy handed in their flooding of the zone with 'unknown' mercenaries given that most parties will likely just blame the more prominent NATO members/US or even private actors. Towards the end, and this is somewhat of a reach I know but it does hearken back to that last point about deniability, is the weapon most mercenaries use the LRS-301. It tries to scream look at how American I am while being so aesthetically chic, so... French. The particular variant seen in the zone stopped being made after the original company Z-M was bought by Para Ordinance, a US/Canadian gun company, in 2007. So, in summary I think the French govt acquired by way of Canada or US "missing" goods that IRL weren't selling too well and ended up in the hands of ex-FFL stalkers to make it look like other NATO countries were responsible for their actions.

Yeah, I'd never thought of that momentary connection (With Doc Breen / Siderovich) before, interesting stuff man - Is this 'Iceberg' thing a metaphor, or does it relate to something more specific in STALKER's (game or mod) world? Never heard of this term before in this context.

Nice iceberg! Did you make this one yourself? I haven't seen this one before.
Thanks! Yes it is custom made, I revealed it in my 100th video special.
It's the first sentence in the video. 😒
Ah, mr. Zone!
@@KonradENSOF Oh okay, still an interesting bug
one of the biggest mysteries is how strelok survive so long fighting literraly alone with clear sky, militaries and the monolith in the cnpp
With a shitty Sunrise suit, no less.
I guess Strelok is just built different. He might also have been using some rare and powerful artifacts.
@@simonaspalovis1204 and aks 74u
@@elpulentopico If you're referring to his second trip to the NPP (during Clear Sky), Strelok used an SGI-5k which is a good weapon.
Bad writing
This iceberg is really good man and my favorite is the Stalker × Half-Life. Besides the stalker named Gordon and the whole gameplay similarities of both games, STALKER uses sounds from Half-Life and Counter-Strike. The horror screams, the wind and the howling wolf for some reason can be heard from afar. Even some gun sounds are quite similar.
Yeah you are right. I did not push the comparison further to not drag it for too long, but as I said you could make an entire video just on this topic.
@@anomalousdugout9557 exactly. It would be cool if you cover it.
Finally. Now I can be inundated in an Ice Berg I know nothing about.
Only the first layer for now, but the rest will come.
Finally gotten around to the stalker iceberg, nice
At least the beginning, I hope it was worth the wait.
Definitely possible. Some artifacts are known to be made out of organic matter.
I'm suprised that codename outbreak is not on any of the stalker icebergs. Its technically not a stalker game, but without it there wouldn't be stalker
10:14 there are also some HL1 sound files, like in sound\ambient
nd_outdoor, you can find rnd_horror.wav, which was originally the_horror1.wav if i recall correctly, along with other files in sounds\ambient

Tonight, most regular people are going to watch their favourite series on Netflx, one whole season in one night... But as for us stalkers...we have six episodes of Stalker iceberg in the dugout series...Iceberg marathon is on!
Intresting parallel line between Half-Life and Stalker. Stalker is the east made Half-Life.
When you love both series, you cannot help but notice the similarities.
Yes, you are right. I was never able to properly experience or understand this lore myself, so I would never dare to talk about it.
The fridge joke might be a reference to Indiana Jones surviving a nuke by hiding in a fridge.
It's something similar yeah, although Shadow of Chernobyl released before this film.
This was such an awesome video, there was something nostalgic about it, and I cannot wait for part #2. Also, thanks for info that I can break the Freedom base's wall using a knife, that will actually help my progression in future playthroughs.
Thanks a lot stalker!
I've been waiting for this! And you delivered perfectly, will be waiting for part 2.
Thanks, your patience will be rewarded.
people love longer videos, so i dont think a lot of your fans would mind if you made a video for a whole iceberg instead of parts, but eitherway very good work.
I know, but it would be almost 2 hours long and take me a few months to make.
Imagine Half Life 1 remade in the XR engine.
That would be interesting.
"Somehow, fridges are funny." That's the funnies shit I've heard this day.Thank you lol.
When I wrote that line I laughed alone like an idiot, so I decided to leave it there.
Can’t wait for the next entry! Thanks a bunch!
I just found the stalker from the original movie. They really nailed his model man, the crows feet and facial lines were perfect. I got so many screenshots
"Somehow fridges are funny..." I don't know why but this had me dead lol
I'm a STALKER veteran, but I haven't heard of some of these things ever in my life, I'd love to see the rest for sure.
I'm glad you learned new things.
Very awesome to watch !! Stalker games are part of my childhood
Nice.
I have always found refrigerators to be naturally charismatic and hilarious.
thanks for this video on my favourite game series to ever be made.
No problem fellow stalker.
I just realised you are already to 10k subs, VERY impressive i remember subbing to you when you had like 1k, you deserve 100K easily the amount of effort you put into these videos, keep going champ :D

I'm nit sure how, but that's nice.
Good video sir!
I'll definitely be looking out for part 2. But take your time, man!
Good video, i think the renegade rat thumbnail would also work.
Ahahah of course!
Yes, that's definitely possible.
HEYYY!!! about the half-life there's a line from professor Sakharov before he tells tyou about town-32 and giving you the psi-helmet which he says that: "There was a major expedition on the western scientists there, who faced...let's say, SOME UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES"
This is just in the mod. This dialogue does not exist in the original game.
Hello! Icebergs are getting popular! Great work!
Hi, thanks!
If you told me that STALKER was originally a half-life mod, I wouldn't be surprised. People compare it to Fallout, but it more closely resembles Half-Life in my experience.
This video is amazing. Excellent job!
Thanks to you I get information about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. day by day.
Great video man, thanks for starting this! Good hunting, stalker!

Not related to this vid, but I love your story episodes. I hoppe more is coming in the future
*In the next Iceberg can you talk about the origins of the mutants, especially the Bureaus and Controllers, my theory is that scientists have been experimenting with the psy emission trying to make humans with psy abilities, but who knows.*
*I was waiting for this video a long time ago, thanks for making this up, appreciated it 👍*
Thanks for the comment! All the layers of the iceberg are already decided so I won't be able to talk about the origins of the mutants, however I already made a few videos about them in the past, maybe you should check them out.
Can't wait for the next layer o/
it makes more sense that the monolith is directed and financed by moscow since the noosphere project started in soviet times and moscow always kept its secrets hidden from the kyiv government and i think that is why the government is unaware of what happens in the center of the area
Maybe.
Very nice video, can't wait for the next part!
Thanks.
I can't wait for the next episode!
Thank you for a new video anomalus.
You are welcome!
Been waiting for this.
I hope it was worth the wait.
I'm only halfway through Clear Sky and who knows that fridge can come flying at your face later in the game lol.
Also how did you know so much about Stalker? This is only the surface but I can't recognize any of the trivia (not that I'm a year one fan though). Well-done!
The flying fridge is in Call of Pripyat. I guess playing and making theories for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. for almost 10 years is the reason I know all of this.
earlier today I passed wolf around the bar when he was heading north, unfortunately he wasnt carrying a box of dynamite
Yeah, I guess the devs did not have the capacity to make that possible.
Awesome! i was hoping you were still doing a video for this
Yeah I am, I'm just very very late on schedule, as usual.
Congrats on 10k!!!

hey men for me you are greatest creator of content in community and i wanna do an iceberg for the spanish community and i take inspiration in your iceberg I ask you if i have permission to make it
Of course you can do what you want.
Half-Life and STALKER are both treasures!
just found your channel and i love it! pls keep up the good work
Nice.
I personally don’t believe that the squad in CoP was actually zombified by the controller. I’m my play through I killed the controller after the stalkers became aggressive and they returned to a neutral state.
Damn, what a theory. I like it, thanks for sharing!
loved it!
Nice.
Fridges seem quite protective against radiation and psy emisions
Many years ago I tried Stalker shadow of chernobyl and made it to the tunnel under the railroad.
Unfortunately at the time i didnt learn to appriciate the game, and stopped there. i think it was anomalys killing me that made me stop lol.
This year I felt the compelling urge to revisit stalker and experience the mysticism of the stalker universe.
I am intriqued by it and have also tried the lost alpha version of SOC.

- Is this 'Iceberg' thing a metaphor, or does it relate to something more specific in STALKER's (game or mod) world? Never heard of this term before in this context.
The term Iceberg is indeed a metaphor to describe how deep the theories go.
I hope you explain to the rookies here why in SoC, the Vintorez is better paired with the SP-5 rather than SP-6 :P
Maybe you can help me out and do it?
@@anomalousdugout9557 Well its actually cool.
SP-5 rounds have similar performance to SP-6 rounds with less penetration but much lower air resistance, allowing them to maintain their velocity for a longer distance before dropping. Which is perfect for sniping with the Vintorez since its good for long range shots.
SP-6 is perfect for medium or close range trhough.
@@CharcharoExplorer Thanks.
@@anomalousdugout9557 Do note - this is only for SoC or mods. In Clear Sky and CoP - only 2 ammo types remain :(
PAB-9 is the basic 9x39 and it is inferior in all ways but can still end mutants and is cheaper/easier to find.
