Only Joe Tex has "entrered" this song through soul music, has then "flowered" it with country music, made a '"stop" in rhythm n' blues and gracefully exited it with an hymn to gospel. God - will - bless you, Joseph Arrington Jr. / Joe Tex / Yusuf Hazziez.
I've just lost a friend of mine and this really helped. He loved this song and I used to play it when I worked at the bar he frequented goodbye john, I can't believe you're gone, we were just talking the other day i'm gunna miss you
I really been sleeping on Joe Tex (not paying his music any attention), no wonder my aunt loved him so much when I was coming up, he was a great artist.
when i hear this, it brings tears to my eyes... i think of people, places, and times gone by...but i still have my memories until i get to touch the green grass of home again 💧
What a great performer! Frankly, I met this video by random surfing, and this is a real discovery in the last few months! Greetings from Skopje! Mickey
I'm partial to Tom Jones version and it's the first I'd known for some time but I'm not about to knock Joe Tex. His version might be a part of that certain something that brings out in me whatever it is that has caused some of my friends to call me Redbone and new friends to be surprised that I am white. With my hair clipped short a full beard and a tan...anf my SWAG! So be it. I'm okay with that. Glad we get to hear this great singer and entertainer via YT. Peace, people.
I can remember setting in my uncles car listening to Joe Tex on 8 track tape. Drinking his beer waiting on my girlfriend to sneak outta her house and come to me. Sometimes I wonder if it was me or joe she wanted more
ive never heard this before or even heard of joe tex but i can tell this song is not for him he has so much power in his voice dying to be unleashed and hes holding back on this song needs something with more umph!!!!
Today, August 8th 2016 is the 81st anniversary of the birth of Joe Tex. Please check out my youtube channel "Remember our Music" an historical site which daily honors a great African-American musician like Count Basie, Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, Lester Young and Oscar Peterson, plus divas of blues and jazz, including: Dinah Washington and Alice Coltrane, all born in the month of August!
Not a soul classic... A country classic. Charlie Pride did it best but comparing Joe Tex to other performers is ignorant... Him, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke and Al Green were in their own class. Real Soul... I know, I was there
