My father who is 79, played this kind of music throughout my childhood. I have such respect for all the wonderful music of the past. Thanks Dad for introducing me to it!!!
Those were the days. Listen to the tenderness in his voice, I remember my father playing this record as a child, I eat, sleep and breathe music I did have an excellent teacher. My Father thank you, Dad!
I love hearing that some of the younger generation appreciate the music from my days, my children heard them too and even though they keep up with today's they still listen to and know all the older ones and so do their children now.
No more music like this no more times like this and certainly no more love like this. Still listening November 19th 2022 in the morning in the ATL!!! Class of 1973!! Henry McNeal Turner High!!!

For the next 12 years off & on, Joe left us with a nice string of hits that will never be forgotten. The words in this song are very touching. Reached #5 (for two weeks) 1/30/1965..
Joe Tex was one of the many great singers of the day that I had the pleasure of seeing perform at the Murray the K Shows, in the old Brooklyn Fox theater 1964-66. he was very underrated.
On this day in 1965 {March 3rd} Joe Tex performed "Hold On To What You've Got" on the ABC-TV program 'Shindig!'... Three months earlier on December 29th, 1964 it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #5 and spent 11 weeks on the Top 100... It reached #2 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart... Joe Tex passed away on August 13th, 1982 at the young age of 47 {heart attack}... R.I.P. Mr. Tex, aka Joseph Arrington, Jr., and Jimmy O'Neill {Shindig's host, 1940 - 2013}...
