I’ve always loved how the back of this car looks with the exhausts and wide back tires. I guess I’d have to give credit to the Miura for this kind of styling, but either way I really like it.
I'd say the Mangusta (Predecessor to the Pantera) has a much better rear, especially with the wing doors in the back. Though can't disagree with the exhaust pipes, those look great. Still, both of these cars look damn good and I wish they had a bit more fame.
Used to be one in my neighborhood in the early 1980s when I was a kid. It was yellow-orange, sort of a "cheddar cheese" color but it actually looked great on the car. Even back then you didn't see Panteras every day. It's been one of my favorite dream cars ever since. Their exhaust has a unique stuttering snarl that sounds like nothing else. Maybe it's down to the way the engine is positioned, or the length of the pipes, but whatever, they have their own totally unique note. Especially when fitted with tube headers.
Absolutely love this car. I was lucky enough to get pictures of one and speak to the owner. And it was an original race version, had the massive engine compartment id tag. Crazy headers going straight out the back. Super duper wide tires, super low. Beautiful car
Panteras have always been some of my favorite cars that I will likely never own. Nice video. The audio did not pick up how good they really sound when done right.
These are beautiful cars, you're extremely knowledgeable on mostly every high end car. It's great to see women really interested in the automotive hobby, that truly amazes me, I wish my daughter were into cars as you are. God Bless!!!
The Pantera styling coupled with American muscle and a ZF manual is a killer combination. I have always loved the styling and the simplicity of it! The trunk insert for carrying some overnight bags looks fairly spacious, probably don’t want to put ice cream in there it wouldn’t make the trip home too well! Love the sound of the stroker V8 based on the roll bar and fire system this car is set up for track days, and you can drive it there and back and not worry and hopefully not break any drivetrain internals! Great video thank you Colleen!
Have always loved the styling of Panteras since seeing one being driven at high speed walking home from school back in the 80s here in the UK. The only other one i saw was at a car show about 20 years ago so very rare compared to Ferrari's. I love high revving naturally aspirated engimes and have owned both a Ferrari 355 & a Porsche 996GT3 with redlines above 8000rpm and both sounded fantastic but not huge amounts or torque. American V8's also sound fantastic and have plenty of toruq low down so probaby lower running costs compared to a Ferrari, Lambo etc.
Great video with excellent details! Just acquired a 73 Pantera in stock trim. I am impressed with everything I learn about this car. Your next video should feature short shorts or patches 🙂
I had to do a double-take because this car has the same exact GTS-style steel flares that were on my '74, which I've rarely seen. I've lost track of ol' #6152 and thought maybe a new owner had painted it red. :) But alas, this is an earlier vehicle. The split pod dash was one clue.
A later version with all the flares and etc with an all aluminum big cube Roush or Kasse SBF with a killer top end would be a killer setup I think. Or maybe even a forged Coyote or forged Voodoo with a 3.0 or 3.8L Whipple would be an absolute blast. I've always loved the way these look and I'm not a Blue Oval fan boy by any means. Who couldn't love these looks with a Whipple Coyote or Voodoo making an easy 800+++ whp and rev to 7500+ rpm plus.
Simple difference between those who just wanna sell a product and those who want to create an elite class. It's like a 5 star restaurant vs mcdonald's.
always had a soft spot for the Pantera and I'm a lil' tickled that it shared the showroom floor with the Mercury Cougar, which I'm proud to say, I have a '68 model.
ARES Modena Italy has made a restomod of this Detomaso Pantera. Which the Ares calls Panther ProgettoUno. Equipped with a Corvette C8 engine and chassis, I thought.
The trend of reviving successful models from the past like the Bronco could be taken into account once again with De Tomasso. 🤔 his new nickname would be the corvette killer 🤔🤔😃👏👏👏👏👏
The mangusta vs the pantera is a study in 60's vs 70's car design. But our host looks like a giant standing in front of the pantera in the beginning of the video.
Some of the more staid Lincoln-Mercury dealers must have wondered what to do with these things when they came in. Too bad the AMX/3 didn't pan out for AMC...that could have been a rivalry for the ages.
Thanks for another great video. I'm 6' 3" and I fit into my Ferrari 308 quite nicely (with a 1" wheel spacer) Unfortunately a GT-40 Repro. or Pantera can never be in my future. Poor me.
I'm 6'3 and overweight and fit in mine better than I fit in my 308. Drop floor and pedal box spacer which moves the pedals further away (wish I could do that to my 308!) And you'll fit nicely...
Enzo Ferrari had a talent for making enemies everywhere he went but the one thing that did was it inspired others to make some exciting cars to beat his Ferraris. With the Ford engine they are easy to work on and parts don't generally cost an arm, leg, and kidney too. The bad thing for me is that I'm 6'5" and most cars just aren't made for people over about 6'2" so fitting in this for me would probably set off a mean episode of sciatica.
@@FerrarisOnline just checking. Would have thought a Pantera drinks twice the fuel of a 355, plus servicing? Wouldn't know what a soecialist would charge on a 40 year old Pantera?
Yes indeed, so just to make one thing very clear: De Tomaso Pantera is not a Ford nor an American car to begin with. Mr. De Tomaso is an Argentinian. This beautiful car is designed by a Dutchy (European) called Tjaarda, The car was manufactured in Italy (Europe) and yes it did come with a Cleveland engine, but this engine was so heavily modified that it could barely be compared to a standard Ford engine. Actually this engine was modified like the Engine of the 24hr winning British Lola GT40, probably better known by its temporary nickname; Ford GT40, which it wasn't. Ford never designed the GT40, in fact they were so annoyed by the fact that Ferrari had Ford used just to drive up the price to sell Ferrari to FIAT that no matter what, Ford wanted to give Ferrari payback for their action. As the 24hrs of Le Mans in France (Europe) was a typical European race, with typical European style and size race cars, Ford USA simply did not have the time, nor the knowledge to come up with a race car in time due to all the research and development this would take. So Ford USA looked for the next best thing: Find a customer who uses Ford engines and purchase themselves a temporary say in this company, for as long as the race would last. At the British Lola race car company, they found more or less what they were looking for. The already existing Lola GT40 race car would be named Ford GT40 only for the race...and the British tuned Ford Engine was to be tuned by Carroll Shelby together with the British Lola race car engineers. So although this car was named Ford, it wasn't really. But they did win several times the mighty 24hrs of Le Mans.
In description: "The detomaso Pantera is quick from the factory, being mid engine, and with more than adequit ammounts of torque derrived from its Ford 352 Windsor" The de Tomaso with the 351 was always the Cleveland, except for 1988-1990 when it came with the Windsor. My dad's 1972 Pantera was white but it had a black colored engine hood. I've never seen another one painted like it and we bought it in 1976, so we know it wasn't aftermarket painted. It made it look even better. It wasn't as fast as our 308GTB, but it sounded better at idle.
Is the injection from Pantera Performance ? Mine had their injection and it was a monster car. Dynoed at 480 HP to the wheels, 550 HP to the crank. What computer ECU management are you using?
Nice but the back wheels are too damn wide and I think it's illegal. When it hits a road irregularity the fender is going to scrape the wheels... 335 or 325's would be better.

Good job, u look great... And fun to watch
Thank you for another marvellous car history lesson! 👍🏻👏🏿👍🏻
Agree on Pantera on the want list. Excellent video. Been admiring these cars for many years.
Go Colleen!! Great car and great video. I love how much passion you put into digging into the history of the cars.
Hardly digging into the history, more a brief introduction. These basic facts are well known to any motoring enthusiast
Awesome design that has aged very well. The Mangusta looks epic too. Thanks : D

She knows her cars and should market the nice jeans too..Love .
A tour of her garage would be a treat
One of my favorites
OH YEAHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You definitly have some mites at home.
ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT REVIEW..
Beautiful pantera
Awesome car, awesome narration ❤
I agree you don't need another car, you need to replace your torn up trousers first
New subscriber and absolutely love the video. They are such underrated cars
Lots of Pantera's , only one Colleen ... Nicely done ..
I SERIOUSLY LOVE the Ford V8 in this.
This is very cool.
I prefer the blue one next to it.. stunning alloys!!+

Kasse all the way.
600+ cubic inch aluminum hemi big block.

a pantera that has been "modified" to fix the problems that these cars had when they were new.
a great car after you fix the bugs.
I don't know if anyone can beat a Corvette for price, performance, styling, and reliability but that thing is comes very close to it.
Awesome!

Alejandro de tomaso un procer argentino ,no olvides mencionar quien es y si historia ,un beso .

Here is a bit of history she forgot to mention, De Tomaso emigrated from Argentina , he added the Argentine flag to the logo on the car.
Always loved these beasts. Not digging the non OEM wheels/tires though. Thanks for sharing!
450 HP!? Geez, what a beast.
Always wanted a red Pantera,, however I did restore one at work
Teach On Ms Cali Car Lady ! Same Dream....Car !

I guess owning a pantera leaves little for the clothing budget❗️🇺🇸
great video
Nice looking car. Someone needs to revive it.
Keep it!
Please a video on the DeTomaso Longchamp and Deauville!
so uncovered cars!
Nice one

Sports car? Muscle car? Exotic? Yes to all three.
You were attacked by some animals ?
Lol, that fella needs to stay away from animals...
The fundillo took away also 😂😂😂😂
This is a car to place the 8-1 bundle of snakes exhaust system in. 351c 4v built to rev would be amazing.
1972.5 had late bumpers, early leather dash
Thanks for another great video. I'm 6' 3" and I fit into my Ferrari 308 quite nicely (with a 1" wheel spacer) Unfortunately a GT-40 Repro. or Pantera can never be in my future. Poor me.

The L front bumper is also an aerodynamic feature that adds needed down force to the front of the car
Is this a new video starting look? I am liking it.

Love the smooth steel flares… can’t stand that “bolted-on” look
They might have been cheaper at the time...well not that much ..and now more expensive! The Mangusta is even more!!
Worked and Driven few you can Install 427 Windsor
There's nothing affordable about a Pantera! Speak to the owners! Love this lady though!
Try owning a ferrari/lamborghini panteras are very affordable.
@@FerrarisOnline So a 355 is cheaper to run than a Pantera?
Absolutly not. Thats the opposite of what i said.

Its a ford v8, very simple. Unlike the ferraris, where you have to pull the motor to change belts etc.
C8 Corvette is the new pantera
The first Corvette mid-engine C8 prototype 🤷♂️
Awesome car. What a sound. Tires were not that wide originally though, right? Ok, to keep it on the ground!
No they were not, they were made larger, an tons of suspension work done in order to handle the extra horsepower and play at the track.
Her pants are broken :(
Great body. Looks race ready!!! The car is fine, I guess.
I used to detail one. One day I backed it into the client’s block wall… as he watched… with his paint guy, who just dropped it off 😢
Oof.
Now that would be an awesome Pantera to own!! Is there a Ferrari 348 in the background there Colleen? Anything special or just a regular one?
348 ts
could be my old car. Is the s/n 4410 ?
I`m super cool because my pants are ripped.

Take some of that RUclips revenue and buy some pants.

Where can I buy one. ???
Are your trainers Air force ones?
Are those GOTTI wheels on the car?
I have seen an espada in garage. When you will drive it?
We are currently getting it running. Had to rebuild the carbs. Its one of 10 automatic espadas.
