It must be so eery standing on the rim knowing what once happened there. All the explosions, the heat, the magma becoming lava and flowing down to the lower levels consuming all as it slowly works it’s way down hill. Wow, just breathtaking. Great video. Thank you very much.
I hiked Amboy Crater with my brother-in-law about 5 years ago. We had an incredible day there. Your video brought back good memories of our exploration there. Thanks.
I swear you two are great. The chemistry between you is wonderful. "I need a moment.......... ok." Beautiful footage!! And great graphic of the volcano, and good information. I so want you to do the intro. "I'm Bathany and this is Drew." And Drew says "True." Lol only because it rhymes. Have a great day everyone!
Yet another captivating video! I like the way you implemented the special effects on the volcanic activity. Please keep these videos coming and continue to keep up the great work! All of your hard work shows thru every video.
I stumbled upon your videos and really enjoy them. They're really well done, from the editing, to the multiple POVs, to the clear audio. That sock over the mic paid off.
I grew up in Yucca Valley California and when I was in 2nd grade I went on a field trip to the Amboy crater thank you for the memories of my childhood over 45 years ago. 👮♂️
What an episode! Bethany on top of the rim..........WOW!!!!!!!!!!! Tremendous views of the land and crater, and you two never looked better. Great drone shots that take your breath away. Thanks for another GREAT episode. What an adventure! Can't wait for more. Love Oddity Odysseys!!!!!!!!!!
Nice video. My son and I hiked Amboy Crater in January 2007 still hot. We went straight up the side as the trails weren't marked very so made our own path up. From there we could pick out the trails so the return trip was pretty much what your approach climb was. The wife and I repeated a visit in 2015 but, didn't attempt the rim...August.
I attempted to hike out there one time and you're right about the black rock adding heat to an already hot environment. I turned around and went back to my air conditioned truck.
I finally found your Amboy vid. Excellent! So well made. There are gold mine diggings under the lava flow in the buried dry river. Hard to find but the tunnels were shown on a tv show about gold mining. There is a uranium mine just north east of here along kelbaker rd.
good job. Well done. I recommend you the island of Lanzarote. On some of my tours inside the island I count more than 10 Volcanoes surrounding me. An yes I have been there by Mountainbike and yes, I made downhills from the ash cones.
Enjoyable, educational outing. Couldn't decipher the script on Bethany's shirt, but the impression I got is that she wasn't overtly 'hearting' Louisiana or Canada during this odyssey, as she's inclined to do.
Funny. I’m a huge fan of the original Journey to the centre of the earth. One of my favourite films when I was a kid. I hiked around the Amboy Crater in 2018 and had no idea about the film connection. Would have made my visit even more special.
I grew up in 29 palms and for some reason never made the trip out to the crater. There were lava bombs scattered across the desert from one of the eruptions in the long distant past that were cool to find and examine.
Down the youtube rabbit hole and I ended up here. Very nice video about the crater! It's one of my favorite spots to photograph in the mojave. A couple years ago I was there and it was 125 degrees in the parking lot. I didn't go more than 50' from the car before heading back. lol
Kind of cool seeing all the places I grew up with through fresh eyes. And hopefully you tube viewers will start checking them out to (if they can get up and away from the computer and walk).so keep doing what your doing.
Congratulations on getting your information on Amboy Crater correct! It's been a little while now since Amboy Crater was recategorize as a dormant volcano and not extinct. As funny as it may seem and maybe not to some one or everyone that people who come and visit Amboy crater don't realize that it's dormant and not extinct even now some people still think that it's extinct not realizing that it is indeed dormant! Again, good job on doing your research on Amboy crater and who knows, some people will probably see it erupt again possibly in the next 50 to 70 year's from now?
I did that hike several years ago. I went to Mitchell Caverns after that. Hope you have a video coming up about the caverns since you were in the area.
Just wanted to throw out a Comment and Compliment! This video is well made, great filming and really nicely done! I'll have to plan a visit during a winter Vegas trip. I really enjoy Yalls work, Take Care!
Wow! That was beautiful, but did you know you can luck out and find precious jewels or stones in an environment just like that.. Great video keep up the adventures 🌄
Amboy is a cool little town with a art deco gas station and matching hotel. And with the local school right next store that looks like it hasn't seen a student in many years
"Yep... you can also see nothing..." (5:24) So, when you were saying this, to the south and southwest is actually the Marine Air Ground Combat Center 29 Palms; so now can say you saw the base affectionately known to Marines as 29 Stumps... :)
I was curious where the lava rock in that area originated. I was trucking through there this summer, and noticed it on I-40. Interestingly, if you follow a general line from that point, to Albuquerque, then north of Santa Fe, volcanic activity is evident all along that corridor.
In the mid 80s, when the crater was only an unknown pimple on the face of the Mojave, a friend of mine and I went to the middle of the crater, (after climbing OVER it, only to find a much easier way ;) ) We found rocks to use to spell out our names, Mike and Brooke. We thought the fighter jets would see it. I also had a night in early 1992, where we had a 8 hr. "UFO" experience, with some lights moving quickly around the lava flow, as well as all over Amboy Dry Lake. Later that year, There was two earthquakes, on the same day, both over 7.0 that was centered very close, in Landers and Big Bear.
You guys drove through I-40 and missed Pisgah Crater? It's way darker and otherworldly. But great video, and by the quality of your vids, you deserve millions of subs. Keep up the good work and fight the RUclips algorithm.
Yay, a road trip! When I saw the title at first I thought you were at that famous meteor crater in....Arizona....New Mexico...? Anyway, I think I've driven past this once or twice, but never stopped. Definite kudos to you both for going on that hike, it looked like a serious one. As always, a great video, your channel never disappoints :) Am I correct in assuming the bonus video you mentioned will be an Urban Exploration? Safe Travels, My Friends!
Your videos are getting better and better. Watch the latest ones at lunch time. You guys ever branch up to the PNW Id love to help with some boating and lost waterway videos!
Enjoy all of your Videos and the ones to come!
"I need a moment..... ..... OK!"
You guys rock!
Stunning. Thank you for the video.
This was great! You two are cute together. "You can see everything! Yep, you can also see nothing" haha
It must be so eery standing on the rim knowing what once happened there. All the explosions, the heat, the magma becoming lava and flowing down to the lower levels consuming all as it slowly works it’s way down hill. Wow, just breathtaking. Great video. Thank you very much.
I still remember watching Huell Howser visit this place.
Great as always, thanks guys.
Thank you, I've been past that place many times but never stopped to look around.
I hiked Amboy Crater with my brother-in-law about 5 years ago. We had an incredible day there. Your video brought back good memories of our exploration there. Thanks.
Glad you guys have those memories of Amboy! Such a unique spot.
Beth has a bangin’ booty.
A stunning and beautiful video. Thanks a lot for sharing it!
Yet another captivating video! I like the way you implemented the special effects on the volcanic activity. Please keep these videos coming and continue to keep up the great work! All of your hard work shows thru every video.
You guys are awesome. My girlfriend and I really enjoy your chemistry and your videos. Keep up the great work you two.
Thank you for taking us on another adventure. Enjoyed the scenery and the historical information.
Not quite sure how I ended up here but really glad I did discover your channel, great video, really like the aerial footage.
Man I’d like to explore Beth’s crater!
I’m rewatching some of your awesome videos tonight
Happy New Year
I stumbled upon your videos and really enjoy them. They're really well done, from the editing, to the multiple POVs, to the clear audio. That sock over the mic paid off.
you guys never disappoint!

I always enjoy your outings, thank you
very well done! thank you. will look for more of your videos
I think this was my favorite episode.
I just hiked this thing in the middle of June when it was 123 degrees outside. Definitely worth it though.
Great...you guys are doing all the stuff I had planned, before I got old, now I can watch anyway.
Nice video. My son and I hiked Amboy Crater in January 2007 still hot. We went straight up the side as the trails weren't marked very so made our own path up. Short but very amazing video. Would love to see something like that myself. Thanks
Me neither....... now I have. Thanks for walking up that steep grade for me. Great view of natural history.
Love the Videos, Thank You
I really enjoyed that and history behind it. The Drone Shots were Epic and gave it Depth! Thank You Bethany and this is Drew!
Awesome video. I tried to do this hike 2 years ago in the middle of summer, got heat stroke and almost died. That hike this time of year is no joke.
I was just there last weekend. There is now a clear trail from the parking lot to the crater.
Very interesting, especially with a mug of Yorkshire tea and some biscuits (cookies).
I'm watching this now with a mug of Yorkshire tea as well..... No biscuits tho......😢
So fascinating! Adding this to my bucket list.
What an awesome place! Another great episode guys!
Cool!
New Video!
Great video. Thank you so much.

I have hiked around Amboy cindercone several times. The most amazing thing was how many chuckwallas lived along the trail to the cone.
I'm living life through your work, glad I found your channel. You "almost" make me want to go outside ;-) ;-)
Ahh...Hermits of America, unite !
As always GREAT STUFF 👍
I lived in the far off city of adelanto California (right off the 395 hyw)and on a clear day,you can see the parts of it.👍👍👍👍👍

Awesome aerial shots!
Enjoyable, educational outing. Couldn't decipher the script on Bethany's shirt, but the impression I got is that she wasn't overtly 'hearting' Louisiana or Canada during this odyssey, as she's inclined to do.
It is actually a logo we designed ourselves to relay the "I

Great to have you here! Yikes, the weather at Amboy can certainly be unforgiving during the summer. We'd love to see your photographs sometime!
This is very interesting. Might I suggest. Mt St. Helens and Craters of the Moon in Idaho?
You guys are my favourite channel on RUclips
Here are the trips I'd take if I lived in the USA, so thanks for the legwork showing me the nuggets I'm missing, subbed.
Great video - I was actually looking this up about a week before you posted the video thinking I want to check it out. Love the drone footage too!
Kind of cool seeing all the places I grew up with through fresh eyes. And hopefully you tube viewers will start checking them out to (if they can get up and away from the computer and walk).so keep doing what your doing.

That was awesome 😁
Awesome video guys,,,
I never knew this was out there.
Nice drone shots
Hi to Ollie ,,,
You started out on a cloudy day and ended on a sunny day. ????
The clouds were certainly fickle that day! We certainly appreciated not having a glaring sun the first half of the morning. :)
Great Drone work!
Wow! That was beautiful, but did you know you can luck out and find precious jewels or stones in an environment just like that.. Great video keep up the adventures 🌄
Awesome Channel I'll definitely keep watching
Thank you!
Amboy is a cool little town with a art deco gas station and matching hotel. And with the local school right next store that looks like it hasn't seen a student in many years
We were there in July and it was approximately 153 degrees.
"Yep... you can also see nothing..." (5:24) So, when you were saying this, to the south and southwest is actually the Marine Air Ground Combat Center 29 Palms; so now can say you saw the base affectionately known to Marines as 29 Stumps... :)

You may have seen people looking for the old gold mining tunnels under the lava flow. There is still little bits of gold in the dry river below.
👌🏽nice !
My son and I were up there about 20 years ago. Cool place. He arranged rocks to spell his name, Jack.
That's awesome!
You guys drove through I-40 and missed Pisgah Crater? It's way darker and otherworldly.
But great video, and by the quality of your vids, you deserve millions of subs. Keep up the good work and fight the RUclips algorithm.
First time viewer, thanks for the excursion.
you two are the next best thing to huell hauser, keep

There is a clear path all the way through, it starts on the right side of the parking lot close to the rest rooms.
Got the notification, never clicked so fast!!!!
