You know I think they are falling prey to the thing about Bleach that makes other people say it has no depth. Kubo only ever really explains something once and a lot of the time not even when it's relevant so you get to the fights and he expects you the reader to use prior knowlege to infer a lot of things yourself. And considering the Normies track record of remembering things Bleach will be rough because they just don't explain it again at any point. Like your supposed to use context clues from before to piece together why Ukitake and Kyoraku are doing this as other comments have pointed out.
Fr. Chris talking about not understanding any motivations when they've been getting drip fed the clues for 15 episodes at this point. 😅 Like 40% of the situation is already right there..

Yep this happens every time with bleach because the story doesn’t spoon feed or tell you exactly what you should think people then say it has no depth. If a character doesn’t look into the screen and exposit their entire thought process that means they have no character at all.
No offense to demon slayer but this is how I can tell people can get into that show easier. Because you don’t really have to think with that show.
@@Karma-pq9fi lol? You are right that you don't have to think to enjoy Demon Slayer but that doesn't mean Bleach has more depth. If anything, Bleach is much poorly written and that's the biggest reason why Bleach became the worst of The Big Three.
Every character has specific motivations that are not hard to understand and has been explained so at this point y’all just gonna have to hold the L 😂. The only exception is Byakuya because we haven’t gotten much of his side yet
A lot (including Aizen) have mentioned Rukia’s execution is a way too severe punishment for her action early on. She’s Ukitake Lieutenant and he sympathizes with her, and Shunsui is Ukitake’s best friend and like they’ve said has always seen the truth, so even he believes there’s more to this.
Exactly. Kubo was more about peeling the onion versus just going straight into throwing it on the grill. You can infer the motivations but nothing sounds concrete. And there is a reason for that. Be patient Normies.

Guys it shouldn’t be hard to infer some of the motivations of the different captains. Captains like Toshiro and Unohana can sense something isn’t right regarding Rukia’s execution and Ukitake is literally her captain

If Rana is not present I just expect they’ll miss/forget things like that. Sometimes it feels like she’s the only one paying attention.

Ngl the motives are pretty clear I’m not entirely sure how it’s being confused like it wasn’t explained. Of course they weren’t all explained back to back because that’s not how Kubo writes. He showed the ideals and how each captain thinks one by one you understand why some want to uphold the law and why some think her punishment is way to severe for what she did.
Unohana confirmed Aizen's body was not a double in a previous episode. And she is the captain of the medics. I wish you payed attention to that
Moments like their reaction at the beginning proves why those long recaps anime had before streaming were necessary. Watching week to week you can sometime forget stuff.
Literally just had a full episode+ implying why Jushiro is doing this..
Ukitake (Jushiro) white hair captain squad 13, he's shown in previous episodes to be against Rukia's execution. Remember that encounter he had with Byakuya and Byakuya told him to mind his own business. Also remember that the captains decide who gets into their squad, so Ukitake is very familiar with Rukia's character, morals, personality, so in short he thinks her sentence is unfair and unjust and decide it to intervene in her execution. Shunsui (Kyoraku) 8th squad captain with the flower kimono, he's good friends with Ukitake and as this episode show they have known each other for a long time. Also as Yamamoto describe his ability to see the truth, so Shunsui suspects there is a hidden agenda behind the execution of Rukia and also supports his close friend Ukitake. Now for Yamamoto, Soi Fon, and Byakuya they just follow the law set by Central 46, in their eyes if you brake the laws in Soul Society you deserve punishment.
Remember the Gotei 13 is a military organization with a long history, customs, culture, even insubordination is equivalent of treason.

Bruh its been established already that some captains believe the execution is excessive and some just blindly follow orders. All of them except Byakuya disagreed with Renji being executed for losing to Ichigo. Ukitake is literally her captain... smh how are you guys confused? Toshiro went to investigate because he believes its wrong too... Unohana is now doing the same... its been said by Renji(and shown the reason he helped bring Rukia back in the first place) that her punishment shouldn't be that bad. Her execution and the date being pushed up several times... the guys on Rukia's side all find this all sus and wrong.
To be fair, this is their first time watching the series, they're juggling a handful of other show, and in the last 20 episodes they've been introduced to 13 Captains, a dozen subordinates, previous Captains, multiple flashbacks, an assassination conspiracy, and clearly Tite Kubo is changing character motivations on the fly.
@Aldridge517 their fault for reacting to 1 episode a day which means 20 episodes ago, they've explained the motivations and they forgot because its been a long time.
[Tidbits & Clarifications]
- The Head Captain stating that Jushiro and Shunsui are the first to become Captains from his Academy means that Those two are likely drastically older than many of the other Captains.
- To break it down in simple terms Most of the battles are occurring between two sides. Execute Rukia or Save Rukia. Now of course the reason varies drastically from person to person,
some are just seemingly following orders: (Byakuya, Yamamoto, Soi-Fon, Tosen, Unohana, Komamura)
Some think the execution is extra/fishy: (Toshiro, Aizen, Shunsui)
Some want to save her because they're close: (Ichigo & Gang, Jushiro, Renji)
Then you have Wild Cards who are doing their own thing: (Kenpachi, Mayuri)
(Kubo doesn't write in a hand holding fashion, once he gives the information it really up to you to keep track of it, but I know it's harder for you guys because yall are watching several shows at once)
- "The Time for words has passed" By this he means that they could have approached him at any time before the execution, instead they choose to act 1st and talk later.
- Byakuya is the head of a Noble Family, I would assume following rules and laws is very important for them. Likely more so than saving an adopted sister.
I fear their memory is gonna screw them over with this series which i get why, but it is very disappointing they forget so much between every watch session

I mean let's be honest in Hueco Mundo the flashbacks and recaps last half an episode. It's ridiculous and sometimes you lose interest in paying attention to the flashbacks because of how shoehorned they are

You guys should really stop explaining stuff to them. What you don't realize in the yt comment section, is that they are so far ahead in reality, you comments are outdated AF. Right now, when this episode aired here, they are deep in Hueco Mondo arc. They are just milking this show by releasing 1 episode a week.
You need to react to bleach more frequently you clearly aren’t remembering information if u don’t even understand the motivations. Yama motives are clear. Ukitakes are too and shunsui is his friend and agrees with him that the execution is out of left field
It's obvious they aren't enjoying the show I don't think it's just frequency of watching they barely pay attention and are always making snide remarks instead of enjoying what's happening or looking forward to what's to come or discussing what they just learned nah they're just complaining the show isn't how they want it to be all the time

@@tyruswillier7358 same homie it’s one of my favorites it’s in the same tier for me as chainsawman(great characters) dragon ball z(nostalgia and incredible moments and hype) and one punch man(garou is aizen tier villain, best art of any manga ever and great characters and self awareness) one punch is probably still my favorite just because of the artwork and garou is as badass as aizen

This episode is when I knew for sure that Head Captain Yamamoto wasn't involved. He was acting more like a dad disciplining his unruly kids, than a mastermind getting revenge against people who thwarted his plans.
Shunsui/Jushiro are the first ever students (from Yamamoto's shinigami/soul reaper academy) turned captains in Gotei 13 history. They are quite old (700+ years old), and are stated to be transcendent aka vastly superior to their peers and predecessors at the academy.
Transcendent? Lol no, they're vastly superior yes, but not transcendent. There's only 2 people in Bleach (maybe 3) who are transcendent beings. Unless you just meant transcendent as in "they're way stronger" yeah. But "transcendent" is an actual thing in this series,, and they're not it lol.

In context of Jushiro/Shunsui, the word is transcendent 超然, which is to be superior to, which is what they are to their peers and predecessors at Shinigami Academy. You are talking about transcendent 超越, which is used in Deicide for Reio aka Soul King candidates.

Most things are there, clues in place for us to follow, some explained later and some only shine in re watch
For obvious reasons Ichigo is the one with the most clear path and Byakuya the most intriguing
But all of them have their motivation or indiference to Rukias execution
except Kubo literally explained a lot of the motivations of the captains/lieutenants and they some how still missed it LMAO

the translation for old man Yama's shikai is something along the lines of flowing flame blade also they did touch on the reasoning of all the captains and the decision of the central 46 some soul reapers think it is alot to have Rukia put to the sword for her crimes if you recall Renji when he was talking to her in his robe he at that time didn't think they'd kill her. and yeah its actually soi-fon.

Its not hard to understand motivations:
Humans: want to sava Rukia because theyre friends
Some captains: want to save her because they feel the execution is injust
Other captains: want to execute Rukia because they're following the law

It’s pretty clear to all the Lieutenant’s are following what the captains belive in, the main captain believes in what he’s doing but no one knows who killed Aizen if he even is dead there all still being played . But everyone is following the captains they trust orders but everyone on Ichigo’s side wants to help Rukia

Jushiro feels what happened to Rukia is wrong and is trying to save her. He went up to the Soul Society Supreme Court and Soul Society Justice Alito was like "no she got to die cause i said so" so he is going to do what he feels is right. Shunsui is good at seeing something is up and is trying to help his friend. that is it. i thought that was pretty up front? check the notes

Everything has a purpose in this series. If you dont bother to take notes, remember things, or miss something chances are you arent going to know whats going on. Very seldom do they reference important details. Kubo usually trusts the readers or in this case the watchers to pay attention and remember details. Get your notebooks wrote things down. So are they completely ignoring the fact that those two captains completely disobeyed the rule of the execution they literally turn traitor they said in the start of the episode

the punishment for rukia and the way the dates move does not make sense for the crime and so everyone is questioning why that being said and why Aizens death was so random,
they are in the soul society , the soul society are like soldiers and they carry out the order and uphold the status quo, the motivation you all keep forgetting is the sense of duty
Ukitake is rukia's captain and he feels he has to intervene
For toshiro it's not so much about saving rukia but rather not trusting gin since momo is aizen's lieutenant and anyone who hurts momo is a no no hence his hatred and suspicion of Gin ( try saying GEEEEEN rather than Jean)
Soi fon is the captain of squad 2 and its within her duty to carry out the will of the soul society, which includes dealing with insubordination
Shunsui is a kind captain and he doesnt see justice as being black and white so he will help jushiro
Unnohana is smart and she will investigate whats fishy
Byakuya is the leader of a nobel family ,his sense of duty is even more non prejudiced and other stuff wwe will find out later, they have been leaking hints
Mayuri is just crazy
Zaraki is a different type of crazy
also old man yama-ji said that shunsui and jushiro are the first graduates of the academy for soul reapers but before them there were still soul reapers, just that the academy helped people train like how rukia and them came into it
Hate those episodes where like 99% is generic anime fight talk ("Oh your energy is too strong!") and the last minute something actually relevant happens just to make the episode look like it was worth watching (and leaves the cliffhanger).
I agree that Shunsui is such a sweetheart. He's so considerate! I love his character so much, and he's such a badass! He has my favorite design in all of Bleach!
