It was so much fun using what I had on hand to tackle my parent’s laundry room closet for them! I feel like this laundry room update is doable for any human looking up to spruce their laundry room no matter what you take away from the tutorial because there was no demo, renovation or crazy purchases. Utilizing your space to the absolute fullest without cluttering it up is a strange balance so I hope I executed that in a realistic manner for you here!

I like how you showed what it actually looks like in use. Often I get frustrated because I will design something and then after using that space it looks different and not as “Pinterest“ we all need to remember what’s the point of the space is and if it doesn’t suit your needs it’s never going to look as nice because your going to have to change it.
Yes ... Exactly. I always see stuff and am like "But how am I gonna use that without knocking over a hundred coffee table books and pretty baskets?" I don't like this whole "pretty but impractical"...

I do the painters tape thing for my husband all the time when I have ideas. I'm the designer of our house and he is the engineer. I can see the finished product and he can see how it all fits together. I had an idea for a new kitchen layout and I put in on the floor with tape and he's like "oh! I get it now!"

Gorgeous as always! When cutting plywood, if you score the cuts first with a box cutter then tape the cut lines (and redraw) you will get a nice clean cut and no tear out.
We all have those days. I’m glad you didn’t let it get you down.
I live with my mom - or she lives with me - and our laundry is in the same sort of nook. While I didn't make ours over to be as lovely as yours, I did add shelves on the side and it's a game-changer. My mom can reach things without struggle and far fewer things fall behind the machines. I'm inspired now to do a little more to our nook after seeing your fantastic results.

Love how you always keep it real. Showing the stain spill, awkwardly crawling on top of the washer to reach things, what it looks like in use... Most people don't do that but it makes me feel better knowing that even pros run into problems. Great video as always Rachel!

Hey, I just found your channel yesterday and have since then binged all your videos (some even twice haha I want more videos!!)
Anyway, I absolutely love your channel. Not just is your style similar to mine, but it's also real crafting, building stuff, using power tools, ripping out carpets etc. I'm not much of a dollar store DIY fan because decor is nice but also .... I need furniture, not some cute stuff. All the other makeover videos are often super boho and the layout of the room seems really unpractical ... I like my stuff to easily accessable. The way you work with wood, how you do it all by yourself, how you and your dad have such a strong bond and you still learn from him, your style, your trial and errors ... I really appreciate your channel and I'm already sad I've binged them in one go (while doing some woodworking myself haha)

I’m new to your channel. Consider me a Covid new recruit all the way from the U.K. I know I’ll never do diy. My husband side eyes me if I even paint anything. I’m sort of clumsy and awful with detail. My husband is way better at this stuff. We’ve just renovated a huge home and moved in. My mother had a similar walk in laundry room closet. They have a curtain rod hangs across the closet closer to the door might give you a idea help your mom hang clothes.

I think you did a fantastic job! It is a really small space and storage is so important. I get your mom being short! I am 4'9 1/2! and my youngest son when he was in grade school, for some project from school made me a little step stool! "here mom, now you don't need me to get it for you!" sound familiar?
