I've always loved how Nirvana song melodies can kinda wander around above a guitar playing chord progressions that kinda wander around. Heart Shaped Box is possibly the top example of that, and Ren leaned into that beautifully here. He does it in his own songwriting too, which was one of the things that hooked me about him.
Ren always puts so much soul in the music cause his soul is all music. And yes, his voice is perfect for this. Hopefully we get something in this vein on the next album.
