My Gf has been taking those exact med's for over 20 years for her severe bouts of "Depression & Psychosis".
It was my lady that introduced me to Ren & his music about 18 months ago & since then I've noticed a big shift in my lady for the better!
Ren's music has done more for her than 20 yrs of Hospitals & so-called Doctor's ever have, Ren's the man in my books!

I agree that the song is more about Mental Illness…and the meds that they push on us. “Take a pill and you’ll be fine” As someone who has struggled with Major Depressive Disorder and Anxiety since childhood, the first time I heard this song, I literally bawled! It hit home for me on so many levels. Glad to hear that your girlfriend is doing better now ❤ I know how exhausting it can be trying to live with Mental Illness and trying to get help to improve it…it’s an enormous struggle in itself. It’s no surprise that Ren has had a positive impact on her life and health, music is therapeutic and healing on so many levels! Especially with an artist like Ren, he gives people like myself and your gf a voice when we feel like we don’t have one. He speaks on everything that matters and topics that need addressing. He’s a rare breed and the most multi-talented artist I’ve seen in a VERY LONG TIME! I love hearing stories like yours about his impact, because that’s what Music should always be about…touching the heart and soul, inspiring greatness, saving lives, and making you feel good! ❤

I spent most of my adult life struggling to explain what it felt like to move through life while taking psychiatric meds. Then, this song. You become the chalk outline and can lose most of yourself.
I’m a mental health nurse and I’ve seen people struggle to express their feelings on psych meds and the first time I saw this it resonated so strongly. I’d show this to anyone now that is struggling on medication.
I always described it as feeling like a cardboard cut-out version of myself (you know, like life-size promotional material you see irl for movies and shit), however - "trace ourselves in a chalk outline" is a much more powerful metaphor. It adds the concept of YOU being someone with some agency in the situation (you took a pill) whereas "feeling like a cardboard cut-out version of myself" is just something to say. Never mind the fact that you truly feel like you're not living, and the chalk outline metaphor is attached to the idea that a person WAS alive, but something has happened and now they're dead.
Chinchilla is an amazing artist, also independent. Check out her video for Little Girl Gone. I read her nails are part of her stage persona and help her confidence when performing. Ren calls her his musical sibling and she's a phenomenon in her own right.
She's no longer independent . She has signed up with a label, but she was given free rein on her music before MF Dimond

So gorgeous. I tear up when he says he is balanced on his toes in the gallows so he can breathe, and then the scared of being ok part. After the torture he suffered for years, it must be terrifying to think anything like that could be possible. He must have ptsd from it.

I’m watching this 2 months out and am so proud of you guys and the success of your channel!! You are so special together and have such a cool vibe! ❤❤❤
I was at The Secret Garden Party and saw Ren on Saturday. I was VERY new to being a Renegade. I hadn't listened to much of anyone else as I wanted to not have any expectations.
And so, on the Sunday, I sat on the hill and just listened to Chinchilla.
Her vocal.style is outstanding! Incredibly powerful. Her band clearly knows their craft. A perfect fit with Ren.
Whilst I had recorded Ren's show, I was a couple of tracks into Chinchilla's show and wish I had also recorded hers.
Being on the outside, in the very clear "fanboy" zone (I'm 57 years old and have never felt so drawn to anything that isn't family! I do NOT understand it, but I can see a LOT of people just living their lives better, and that's amazing!!!), I know Ren and Chinchilla collaborate when the time is right.
There are a couple of new tracks coming that are collabs. Hopefully on Ren's next album.
I know this may all seem a bit "gushy". It is. But the content and context of Ren's work hits me and MANY others like an in your face wake up call.
We do NOT control the events and traumas of our lives. But, those little moments of self doubt, personal mental betrayal, they accumulate. And soon, those events, those traumas, they control us.
But as we saw in Hi Ren, we are those events. Shaped and moulded by them.
For me, Ren pretty much said that I have a choice. To be as I've been made by these events, or to move beyond their influence. Create a path for myself that lessens the impact.
Learn to grow.
It is not easy. If it was, we wouldn't be needing some Welsh rapper sharing his story.
But we do all need help sometimes in our lives.
And that moment, when I heard Ren for the first time, ...
I am on a path I had never considered. And I am comfortable with the fact that I do not know the outcome.
The choice of living in the comfort zone of pain and depression, knowing how it will affect you day to day, or to accept the damage and find a way to resolve things and move to a clearer and cleaner mental space.
I hope my words are understandable. I talk a lot. Mainly because I don't have the perfect words.

❤ I think this is the quietest I have seen you guys in a reaction. I think above all Rens talent that he has worked damn hard to have I think the way he puts concepts together every human can relate in their own way. That's what's beautiful about how he writes. Unless it's a personal story like troubles he never gets specific on what 1 thing or one meaning and he says he does it deliberately bc he wants each person who hears his music to relate to it or interpret it in their own way. Not in a way related to his specific experiences. So whether the pain in his song in relation to him is a physical pain in it might be an emotional pain to someone else. That's what I think is beautiful.
I think the loooong nails are just her “thing” everyone usually has something…her voice is enough for me. ☮️❤️🎼😎

Love your reactions guys! An older video but one of my favourites is Patience. It's from about 9 years ago when Ren was still pretty sick and trying to get the help he needed. Be cool for you guys to check out younger Ren but make sure you do the one in his home and he is wearing the black shirt...not the studio version. The song almost has a prophetic quality to it considering where he was at the time and where he is now.
