  • On November 26, 2018 something happened at Seattle's Miner's Landing between security guard Brian Murphy and a male by the name of William Moore. There were plenty of witnesses, but there was also an usual twist: the witnesses were evenly divided between two contradictory stories.
    Today on Real World Police learn what happened, and find out which party is going to jail.

    Okay so I have watched this 7 times now. I also did a freedom of information request for the bodycam footage to view that. I interviewed both parties in person as well as a few witnesses named in the report. I've come to the conclusion that the lady is in fact from Canada.

      I work the private sector and let me tell you - police are almost always immediately on the side of security, and will not spend too much time piecing together camera footage. They know footage eventually expires off the DVRs and by the time the parties in the case contest anything, whatever isn't submitted initially is gone anyway. Most of the time they wanna wrap up the call and then leave.

    • @keleynal4424
      @keleynal4424 2 года назад +12

      @@JuliusCaesar888 That makes sense. I’m sure having security and tapes makes police’s job a lot easier and I’m all for police relying on private security (I’ve worked private security myself). However, just from the comments made in this video alone, it seems that this security officer in particular has a history of improper use of force or glossing over things to make them more favorable to him. Could be a complete mischaracterization, but that’s what I gathered from the video. Such a person needs additional accountability.

    The fact that all these witnesses saw the EXACT SAME event and all came up with different answers is a scary implication for how the justice system relies on the whims of unreliable observations from people more interested in spewing their opinions and feelings instead of the objective truth. Imagine how many cases there are where a person was wrongfully convicted or let go because a witness gave unreliable testimony. It’s a scary thought, but sometimes witness testimony is all the police have.

      Human recollection and memory combined with deep-seated biases and opinions combine to produce how an individual sees the world. The game we played as children where one whispered to the next child in a line of several children, a seemingly simple sentence ended up totally different as the last child spoke aloud what he or she heard! So it is today. That’s why multiple witnesses are interviewed and the hope is to glean repeating similar aspects. Even multiple witnesses tend to see different aspects.

      Private Security is NOT the police. The job of security is to protect. If the guy was sitting on a public sidewalk "on his pipe", and not doing anything threatening, then call the police. Unless, in a very very few cases where a security guard/officer IS commissioned by police, and properly TRAINED to exercise certain police powers, and then only in the course and scope of the immediate post/assignment.
      Security should have just called the police and saved everyone time and trouble.

      Likely Brian Murphy is fairly gung ho and knows when he is greenlighted to go to the next level, but is very aggresive once he does. That doesn't mean he is wrong. Some guards get a rep simply because of where they are at. An area with a lot of bars, drugs, and night life next to the harbor is going to have a lot of action. They probably need a guy like Brain Murphy to deter the fools. Im guessing he could be a bit more diplomatic. If he was as deferential to his contacts as he is to the cops, he might have more cooperation. Then again, he did try to get the guy his food. That shows he was willing to work with the guy and give him the benefit of the doubt. I believe that the pot smoker guy did take a cheap shot at him when he turned away towards the girlfriend. Maybe he could have been more patient and less shovey before that, but really he is not paid to have arguments at the bar. He is paid to have arguments at the curb. And that is where he was trying to go. Databyter

      Sometimes eyewitnesses only see what they want to see and fabricate a BS story! Not always the case but happens a lot!

    Three issues with this video. 1: what was the outcome? 2: What did Brian P. Murphy's body cam show? 3: How long has that girl been dating other girls?

      For real though, the girl that got peppersprayed put up a good fight considering there was 3 man needed apparently to detain her, but she did cry all the time. Weird.

      I'm from Canada, but I played hockey. So, I get a pass, right? (Not a Commie teacher, and my intervention is usually not welcome by the instigator.)
