You just solved my problem. I'm making a Trip Around the World quilt for my first grandchild, due any day now, but my son wants a 2-color quilt for his son. Black stars and royal blue multi colored dots. This will be a marvelous pattern. Thanks Rob. You really came through for me.
I really like the fabric line you chose and this is a quilt i would do. I like to watch your videos in the morning with my coffee as between your energy and my caffeine I get ramped up for the day! :) Trust me, I am an old lady and this is a true compliment. Great video again, Rob, keep it up! Zoanne
I would use two different "sherbert" solid colors, such as a pink raspberry and orange, or a lime green and peach-ish, for a 60s retro look, or perhaps use two different colorways, (e.g. bright colors on one side and grey and black on the other) one on each side of a quilt with just some flannel in between for a lighter blanket with minimal quilting to hold it together. I think the possibilities are endless with this.
I really like this pattern. I have a lot of pink/pink floral that this project would be great for. Thanks , I love watching your videos always full of energy!
Pretty cool pattern, Rob. I would have to nest my seams, however, to get perfect intersections. Just a matter of pressing the strip sets differently. Thanks for all your ideas and your humor!
Such a fun project! I think I'll give it a try ...well at least 3rd on my list LOL Something already on my machine...guess I'll get that one done and gone...vrooooom vroooom !
Love your course of the box ideas! Can't wait to try this - but it has to go in the queue. Want to use batiks & a solid I think. Love your choice of music too! Very distinctive
I LOVE all your videos/projects, but have to say, this is my all time favorite! Now, if you would do the math for me, in yardage, for a queen size :) I have many combos for team colors in my mind, but for myself: gray and yellow grunge. Thanks for another TERRIFIC tutorial!
I definitely want to try this with some batiks and solids! I might go with some ocean sunset vibes since I have some of those colors left over from a different recent project.
I’ve got some of my favorite colors of bright pink and lime green batiks that would look great. Just need to find the pattern. Need the fabric yardage needed for the 42 squares like in the quilt
I think I’d get dizzy looking at that quilt on the bed, but it certainly looks neat!! Does that line come in different color ways, like mostly blue or red??
Please help! I dry cleaned two fairy frost black/ebony quilts. All sparkle is gone! I feel so sad. Is there anything I can do to revive/untarnish the sparkle? I made zigzag blocks much like your checkerboard for my son and grandson.
My first big quilt was with plain colors .... finding out now how frustrating it ca be with a nice print: how to make it turn out the best? Anyhow: want to try this out with some animal ptints I have bouht! Thankx for these high energy videos! Enjoying each single one!
Wondering what quilting pattern you used? I made this and now am having a very difficult time trying to decide how to quilt. Any ideas? Don’t want to lose the illusion of the quilt!
Hi, I've really enjoyed your videos and quilts: I have just started quilting and found that I have wasted a lot of effort and enthusiasm on my 3rd quilt. Why? because I feel like there are secrets, tips and tricks I haven't' learned with respect to cutting accurate strips, sewing straight/even strip sets and squaring up techniques during construction. I have scrapped the quilt and will use it for quilting practice. Now, I realized I may be asking a lot... But I would love to see a video on best techniques for accurate cutting, sewing, construction and squaring of strips and blocks. And what are the common poor practices we should avoid? …... Or simply share a link for us beginners. Please keep posting and sharing your gorgeous work!
HELP!! Just finished my version of this for my fiancé. I am a beginning long armer. Any suggestions on how to quilt this in a way that will enhance the optical illusion would be much appreciated. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all and thanks in advance for your suggestions!!
You know...if you always press to the dark when making your strip sets, your seams will always nest when making your blocks since you are alternating lights and darks.
Love the quilt! Will you please give us the dimensions of your finished quilt? Also please give us yardage amounts. Several more people have asked below in the comments and they have not been answered yet.
Great!! another quilt added to my to-do list :-). For the Holidays, do you have a pattern for a Christmas tree skirt?? a Christmas tutorial could be cool ;-)
Holy Cow! That us awesome and I want to make one much bigger than the one you show but cannot find a size OR more importantly the fabric yardage. HELP!! I called Missouri Star but they could not help! HELP!!!
Judy Braten Jordan Fabrics in OR is very helpful with yardages. Great customer service on the phone with in-store staff. If you can give them info for the one shown, they can probably figure fabric for you. Do not mean to infringe on MSQ at all, but as you mentioned they couldn't help you, then you should be free to check elsewhere for help. It is odd that MSQ couldn't help you with this, though.
Such a dude man! I think the solids knock it out of the park here, my thought would be if FMQ could even kick it up one more notch..hmmm ... this reminds me of the disappearing 4 patch that Jenny does
I ❤ your videos! I just finished a 85” x 85” quilt for my son using prints and solids in red, black, grey and white. Thank you!

Wow, that is such a cool quilt! The transformation from the fabric to the final illusion is mesmerizing....like a racing flag under water.
What a great analogy! That describes this quilt perfectly!

You are awesome Rob! Black, white, gray prints, just like the one you did on the demonstration.
I always love your videos and enthusiasm.

Prints for me in red/cream contrast. I love the impact this quilt has. Great pattern!
I really like this pattern. I have a lot of pink/pink floral that this project would be great for. Thanks , I love watching your videos always full of energy!
Plum and Pink batiks. I really like this pattern! You do a great job of teaching, thank you!
Thanks for the fun tutorial! Love your twilight choice too. This would be a great project for school colors!
Absolutely!
Love this quilt. So many opportunities for using just a couple colours.
Prints! I’m going to use prints. But that orange and yellow is Groovy! ✌️
This is my favorite one yet..... love the design, process and especially "strip piecing"...:) GB
Pretty cool pattern, Rob. I would have to nest my seams, however, to get perfect intersections. Just a matter of pressing the strip sets differently. Thanks for all your ideas and your humor!
I know this video is 6 years old but I'm just seeing it and the link for the free printable isn't valid any longer. Can I still get the printable?
This is going on my to do list, very cool! I think I'll do one with white/dark prints and a second with bright solids. Thank you
I would like to do this quilt, but the free printable seems to be no longer available. Advice?
A very great one! I will use caramel and hazelnut brown colours. They fit to the bed and furniture in our guest sleeping room.
Such a fun project! I think I'll give it a try ...well at least 3rd on my list LOL Something already on my machine...guess I'll get that one done and gone...vrooooom vroooom !

This was supposed to say "Love your out of the box ideas"

Great design and tutorial!!!

We sure hope you send us a picture when you finish that!
Sky blue & lemon yellow would be really pretty.
Wow this is super awesome.
wow!
this ond iz hard on the eyes!
OMG, I love this.
Great technique Rob. I would use Red and white Batiks
Black & Gold ⚜️
Thank you for this video Ivan going to try this.
I love this and can't wait to try it. What yardage suggestion do you have to make a full size quilt?
I think I will try bright batik fabric and do a double bed quilt with the 1" squares together. I'll let you know how it works out.
With some careful planning, would look great in Red, White and Blue :)
What are the dimensions and required yardage for the quilt shown behind you?
Please help! I dry cleaned two fairy frost black/ebony quilts. All sparkle is gone! I feel so sad. Is there anything I can do to revive/untarnish the sparkle? I made zigzag blocks much like your checkerboard for my son and grandson.
What is the yardage required? No where was this addressed, would like to use yardage rather than pre cuts. Love the pattern! Thank you!!!
My first big quilt was with plain colors .... finding out now how frustrating it ca be with a nice print: how to make it turn out the best?
Anyhow: want to try this out with some animal ptints I have bouht! Thankx for these high energy videos! Enjoying each single one!
Rob, great tutorial! What do you have attached to the metal plate of your machine?
That is a quarter inch seam guide. You can find them here: www.missouriquiltco.com/shop/detail/67125/brewer/-/seam-guide-magnetic-large-with-handle
Is that 1/4 in seam? Looks smaller...thank you! This is a cool pattern thank you!
Yes it is. :)
How much yardage did you use for this quilt if I don’t want to use 10” squares?
How many WOF strips do you need of each colour???
Wondering what quilting pattern you used? I made this and now am having a very difficult time trying to decide how to quilt. Any ideas? Don’t want to lose the illusion of the quilt!
BTW- I'm planning on making this in black/white for my grandson when he goes off to college next August.
🙏so did I miss something, are their directions for needed strips to do this?

Exactly! More precise at the intersections.
That is an excellent tip! Thank you for sharing!
Could you please address the yardage needed for the 42 blocks? And, what is the finished size?
Are the Orange and yellow batik fabrics available on the website?
How much yardage is required for this fabulous quilt?
Love the quilt! Will you please give us the dimensions of your finished quilt? Also please give us yardage amounts. Several more people have asked below in the comments and they have not been answered yet.
Would this work in flannels or would the 1" strip be too bulky?
You could always change the strip size. Make them 5", 4", 3" and 2". You'll still get the illusion.
Great!! another quilt added to my to-do list :-). For the Holidays, do you have a pattern for a Christmas tree skirt?? a Christmas tutorial could be cool ;-)
It's pretty
ROB MERCI 💗
I'd use a solid black and a black geometrical shape printed on my white. I'd really be happy if you came and sewed with me though! lol ;)
Two different colors of ombres! Pink and teal or purple and teal.
I love the idea of using ombre!
Holy Cow! That us awesome and I want to make one much bigger than the one you show but cannot find a size OR more importantly the fabric yardage. HELP!! I called Missouri Star but they could not help! HELP!!!

Hello, I love your videos. You simplify things. Non related to this video...can you do a tutorial on a leather tote bag.
Ty!
solids or solidish- with blue and probably a white on white
Such a dude man! I think the solids knock it out of the park here, my thought would be if FMQ could even kick it up one more notch..hmmm ... this reminds me of the disappearing 4 patch that Jenny does
Please show us a round table
I have only seen Dreg.
Hmm might make something similar with some fat quarters to make placemats
Red & dark blue batiks...
Люблю твой канал, спасибо.
Batik’s and solids first. This would be an AWESOME way to May Harry Potter Hogwarts House blankets.
That would be so neat! We sure hope you make a couple of those and share them with us on Social Media!
Yardage?
Green Bay Packers Green and Yellow Batiks made into a tote bag
