    I started experiencing hair loss at 21, with my hairline receding further and further back over the course of my 20’s I tried EVERYTHING to keep my hairline naturally there, from oils, to colored powders to fill in the balding areas, til one day I read a post someone shared on their Instagram and it was a 7 yo boy who was going through chemotherapy, his mom took a picture of him from down their hallway looking into the bathroom, there he was standing with an IV pole, bald head, in a diaper, sick to his stomach crying from the pain, and in the following photos was a picture of him still bald, still connected to his IV, but smiling and laughing, and I told myself if this little fighter can have the strength to go through what he’s going through then I should be brave enough to shave my hair off and be completely happy with it, I shouldn’t let it define me like that little boy doesn’t let his cancer define him and stop him from smiling. And it’s literally been the most liberating feeling I’ve ever had ❤️

    It sucks to start balding, seeing your hair start to become thiner and thiner until you lose it, is a natural process and is out of our control, but we can control how we react and feel about the situation. My hair is getting thiner and thiner from the scalp and I can't help it, I have no problem shaving It I'm already used to it, in fact today is a perfect day to shave my head. Own it, embrace it, everything is going to be alright.

    Vin, you look great. It must have been so stressful to try and keep the illusion of hair going..physically and mentally.
    I am so proud of you . I am losing my hair due to menopause and have cried many times over it. Tomorrow I am having my long hair cut shorter because seeing my long curls falling out is so hard.
    You look younger and freer.

    • @rickknight3823
      @rickknight3823 2 года назад +2

      Hi Jane, excuse the random message.. I do a lot of natural health research.. Whilst menopause can be a trigger for hair fall there are other connected areas that instigate this knock on effect.
      Hormonal imbalance and subsequent system strain where autoimmune disorders can exacerbate sensitivities to things like hair loss.
      I highly recommend getting a vitamin D level test from your doctor. Many people living modern indoor lifestyles are chronically deficient in D causing all sorts of hormonal imbalances. It's surprising how much of a key influence D is in maintaining body homeostasis.
      Doesn't matter where you live in the world, if you're regularly fully clothed and don't get sun on your body between 11 - 3pm everyday for years, it's likely a person is chronically deficient.
      Anything below 30/40 is deemed a deficient D blood level. We need to be at least 75 - 100+ for optimal health.
      RDA of D3 are woefully inadequate to bring those levels up in good time.
      As much as 10,000+iu of D3 a day is fairly normal for those D experts with plenty of experience in the field.
      Add in K2 and magnesium for better absorption.
      Within a few months you will see a profound turn around in your overall health, along with dramatic hair fall reduction.

    • @janewhitzend688
      @janewhitzend688 2 года назад

      @@rickknight3823 Hi . Thank you for thinking of me, such a kind thing to do and I appreciate it. Yes I have previously had issues with Vit D, however my levels are up to speed now . I am still experiencing many issues so am seeing a menopause Specialist in the coming weeks to look at everything. My thyroid has been checked too, so Iam at a bit of a loss, still feeling dreadful despite HRT, so am getting more things checked including testosterone.

    • @rickknight3823
      @rickknight3823 2 года назад +2

      @@janewhitzend688ok, do you know what your D levels are now & what they were before when you had an issue with D? Also how much vitamin D3 you were prescribed to bring them up to adequate levels?
      Quite often typical doctor advice is insufficient following recommended D3 supplementation & the extent of D influence.
      You need to take K2 In fairly large amounts along with magnesium to help put the D where it's needed. You also need to maintain D3 levels daily at 10,000iu if you were previously chronically deficient.
      D3 is absolutely central to multiple hormone regulation processes. Going through the menopause with low D would absolutely trigger all sorts of issues where your system had been 'coping" previously.
      HRT is not for everyone and may interfere with D supplementation synthesis.
      Conventional medical routes to heath quite often lack the much needed holistic approach. Herbs like Ashwaganda and many others are perhaps a better option then pharmaceutical drugs which need lifelong commitment causing a lot of side effects and only masking the symptoms rather then healing the source of the issue.
      Adding in hormones like hrt or testosterone isn't really the answer. It's correcting the source of why your system is out of balance. Getting older is no excuse for ill health, it's jut a lack of holistic knowledge and healing expertise that we now experience depending on inadequate chemical pharmaceutical drugs.
      I highly recommend visiting a well reviewed Naturopathic doctor.
      I have seen many successes including myself from going down this path.
      Taking adequate D3 should also be accompanied by going outside everyday to get the infra red light for around 30 mins. Doesn't matter if you're fully clothed or it's a cloudy day.. Infra red light penetrates all those things adding into the effects of D3 supplementation.
      I have 20 years of natural health research under my belt, it's a passion & I've listened to many fascinating medical lectures and peer reviewed studies on all sorts of connected areas of health.
      The next area to look at would be your diet and ways to improve that to enhance system recovery.
      As I'm sure you know overweight can exacerbate D synthesis and uptake because it's fat soluble.
      Many people are having extraordinary success on the keto diet which seems to again help the body to rebalance itself.
      I could go on and on, so I'll stop there and wish you luck on your health journey.
      If you need any information I can at least try to point you in the right direction. 🙏

      Thank you. I hated losing my hair which started in my mid 20’s. At a certain point( by my early 30s) it was time to shave it off. I got used to it quick. So much easier- I shave it myself about once a week which takes 5 minutes and no prep time in the morning or going out. Save money on shampoo and conditioner. Don’t own a comb or hair brush and never have to look at myself in the mirror to see if my hair is messed up. If I was back in my mid 20’s and I was given the choice to keep my hair I would have but now in my 50’s I don’t think I want it back

      I prefer to be groomed and don’t even have a mustache or beard. It only takes an extra few minutes to shave my head too after shaving my face, and I usually only do it with shaving cream and a razor once a week or so. I’ll touch it up once a day or every other day with a rechargeable rotary shaver. On days off, I usually don’t shave it. And, I buy bulk Shick flexible razors from Amazon maybe once a year. A hell of a lot cheaper than getting a haircut every two months.

    I agree that we guys often benefit from premission-givers to try new looks - eg the world's greatest shave, eg Movember. For me the permission came with finishing a job assignment that allowed me not to be in the public eye for a while, and from my very supportive wife. I had grown a full beard in preparation for making the change, and learned from Stanley Tucci that some signature eyewear can help balance a bald head. So I was ready for the moment. My kids were not 100% enthusiastic about my new look and kept telling me that I looked weird, bald, and that they missed my hair. But I felt like a million dollars when I shaved it off. I found it rejuventating. Kudos to this guy's combover though. really making the best of the available hair. Thanks again for another helpful and positive video. Health and Peace, Paul

    Dope combover. And I'm not certain only because I have long hair, but I think this comes down to two things. Owning the look and being a Boss about it. 2nd, I also believe you have to grow an epic beard, although many can't or don't.

    As a guy that shaves his head after having a mane when I was younger, I know how much anxiety this guy must have had during the process of this video, BUT...two things... He has a good head shape and is handsome as hell so he pulls it off well! A bit of a tan on his naked scalp and he'll be shaving it totally in no time. Best feeling in the world! Two...that hairdresser is gorgeous!

    As we say in Scotland now you can wash your face all the way back it always amazes me that a man with all those personal accomplishments is so worried by hair loss the total head shave is always freeing I’m old enough to remember the comb over in the 70s never worked then it still doesn’t

    What helped me was shaving my head way before I started thinning which gave me a general idea about what my head would look like. By the time, I noticed I was thinning in my late 20s, it was such an easy decision without any worry/anxiety. Wondering if every teenager should do it at least once to get a preview just in case they start thinning/balding

    Honestly, if no one told me he was bald and had a combover to cover it, I wouldn’t know. Probably more noticeable in the daytime outdoors I assume. He’d probably have to use hairspray often to avoid the wind blowing it over though.

    Yep I can relate - female pattern baldness is what you and I have and it sucks but at some point, you embrace it. For me, it was when I was in my 40s, working in a professional job but standing outside talking to a co-worker. I caught sight of the shadow of my hair. All the long bits were being blown STRAIGHT UP by the wind. It looked really funny and I laughed about it but I was also mortified. It wasn't long after that that I began cutting it a LOT closer. A few years later and I bought a WHAL trimmer off Amazon and now I cut my own hair, saving $15/month in barber fees. Totally worth it and now I'm used to short hair. If it gets long"ish" at all, I hate it and once again cut it off.
    BY THE WAY - your barber is adorable. She seems very sweet and friendly but also very supportive. Seems to laugh easily and just enjoys life. And man, what a great smile she has.

    I went through the exact same thing and feelings. I would sweat everytime I saw less hair in the mirror and wearing hats made me feel more confident. I shaved my hair off years ago and it was a new start for me. I felt as though I shaved away what I thought were also good looks and youth. You honestly look great without the hair my friend!! Keep your head up and walk tall!!!

    While the comb over looked surprisingly good in very controlled indoor conditions, ultimately I'm sure that was a massive insecurity when outside and doing things in the real world. He also looks great with it buzzed right down too, and now will look great in all weather conditions lol.
