I fell in love with her and her music at age 20 back then. I’m 72 now and love her even more. Few singers have EVER touched my heart and soul like Linda.Thank you for a lifetime of musical perfection ❤
Linda Ronstadt could sing any genre of music. Country, rock, pop, Broadway, she could do it all and superbly. It’s so sad her voice was silenced by illness.
Happy 78th Birthday Linda you ROCK!!! you know...Queen of Country Rock, Folk Rock, Rock n Roll, Pop Rock, Standards Rock, Mexican Rock ect ect ect...what a Gem she was/is...Ronstadt set the Standards for modern female singers a woman of conviction and professionalism...prayers for Linda...amen
This may be Linda's most emotional performance of the song. No doubt singing to lonely prisoners who have earned the right to attend and witness Linda's loveliness. Dressed humbly and homely, Linda was perfect.
Ms. Ronstadt took care of herself, and kept studying and practicing her craft. Over her long long career, she developed as a singer, improving her breathing, expanding her range, her projection, her phrasing, her vibrato. She was the most versatile singer, ever. She was a singer's singer.

Dear me! This lady's voice is fantastic! She is truly the best female vocalist in history. I sit here in awe of her angelic voice. She's more than a singer. She's an experience.
My wife taught me two important things before she died - the Love of Jesus, and the meaning of this song. This beautiful performance and Linda Ronstadt reminds me so much of my Mary...
My husband and I went to see Linda Ronstadt at a large outdoor venue near Detroit in the 80's. It was when she was singing traditional pop standards with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra. There was a loud, obnoxious guy way in the back who intermittently yelled out, "Hey, Linda! Sing the old s--t!" Over and over and over. Finally, and none too soon, Linda got fed up and responded, "You know, there were a lot of great songs written before 1970." The audience applauded like crazy. The guy got up and staggered out. The concert was almost over at this point. After the last song and a few bows, Linda came back onstage and the orchestra started playing the intro to "Desperado." It was the best performance of that song I ever heard her give, and I had the pleasure of seeing Linda in concert quite a few times. I hope that rude guy read the review in the paper the next day.
Saw her in a concert in NJ in 1972. An awesome performance. Then she introduced her backup band - a new group including Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Randy Meisner. They called themselves the "Eagles". An incredible time to listen to the greatest music ever. I'm so thankful I was there
Linda made an appearance on the Johnny Cash show in the early 70s. She was wearing a short short skirt like the one in this video. She was flirting with Johnny until June Carter Cash noticed that Linda was pantyless. June made a beeline to Linda and lit in to her. I'm sure she slung all the appropriate slang of the early 70s at Linda. Linda was lucky June didn't take her to Fist City. Mountain girls like June and Loretta Lynn didn't take no crap.

No one else could sing like that. I recently heard a comment by Emmylou Harris about Linda's voice. She said Linda had a "cry" in her voice. That take some thought, but it does fit. Even this song is a great example of that.
Willie Nelson was spot on about two types of men in the world....I've loved Linda since 9th grade. Each album that came out of hers created more pain than the last.

Thanks to the Little Rascals movie from the 90's, I've fallen in love with Linda's music. I remember crying when Love Has No Pride played in the background of the movie and luckily my mom knew the song and brought me the CD as a kid. now am 25, but wish kids who are my age then could find that inspiration in music.
Keep in mind, youngsters.....Linda is singing live, with just a band and minimal back-up singers. No auto-tune in 1976. You had to just go out there and give it your all, which she did in spades.
How she sings about how painful it is to give your heart to a man that will not return it. The resignation in her voice. The utter humiliation of knowing her man really is not "her man." But what kind of a man would not love this woman? But everyone one of us have been in love with someone that does not love us back, we will do anything to see that person again. When we lose the love of our life we never , I mean never for get it. The stuff of which legendary songs are written.

Killer video. But real sad. 4 people that have been silenced. Buddy Emmons no longers plays, Linda's voice is gone, and Andrew and Kenny are both gone. Can't help but shed a tear when watching this video. Not to mention that this is my favorite song that she ever did.
One of the greatest voices EVER!!!! My mom got me hooked on Linda when I was a teenager; I'm now 30, and the woman is still more emotionally intense than any singer I can think of. Just brilliant.
Linda was the best in the business for years: folk, country, pop, rock, Mariacchi, opera, Tamla Motown? She could sing it with a depth of emotion that I do not think has been equalled by anyone. People often ruin original songs by "re-imagining" them in ways that are not true to the song. Linda, more than any other singer I have known, had a true instinct for a song and sang with respect for the song. It is very sad she can no longer sing.
I disagree. There are hundreds of singers who sing (or sang) with as much expression as Linda sang. Many remain anonymous because they never got a chance to become famous. You are infatuated with Linda Ronstadt. That much is true. I am less persuaded by the rest of what you contend.
@@george5120 This is such a silly comment, best saved for someone who doesn't have possibly the most beautiful and powerful voice in pop history. Yes, millions of talented people didn't make it and should have. So?

Effortless and beauty all in one.
I'd give about anything to hear Linda live again. What a beautiful woman, with a smooth, sweet, voice.
Thank you for this! At least we have a record of that glorious voice!
Hello dear,how are you doing?
Killer video. But real sad. 4 people that have been silenced. Buddy Emmons no longers plays, Linda's voice is gone, and Andrew and Kenny are both gone. Can't help but shed a tear when watching this video. Not to mention that this is my favorite song that she ever did.
Thank you, Linda. ❤
Agree. Linda, you owned the seventies and eighties. Time reshapes us all...and we will always remember every song blessed by your voice.
One of the greatest voices EVER!!!! My mom got me hooked on Linda when I was a teenager; I'm now 30, and the woman is still more emotionally intense than any singer I can think of. Just brilliant.
The unmistakable voice of Linda Ronstadt.
I’m 55 and only 2 people can cover songs and make em better than the original. Elvis and Linda.
+una mckillen only thing I would add is "decades" not years; her body of work is unmatched by anyone in "pop" music alive or dead
+badbadkingjohn I was actually thinking centuries.
Una-you have great taste-well said!
So?
I hear this song 40 some years later and I can feel exactly how I felt then. It was cleansing, redeeming, exhilarating, liberating. And I didn't feel so bad any more.
A legend. So spectacular. Best voice ever
Oh my God, that woman can make me cry!
