S7 E87: Wolves v Luton preview: While Everton and Forest whinge, Wanderers don't get enough credit

- Let’s do this again shall we!? Luton Town go in search of a huge three Premier League points when they head to Molineux on Saturday afternoon to face injury ravaged Wolverhampton Wanderers. Sound familiar?
Kev is once again joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look ahead at a match which could see the Hatters escape the bottom three for at least 24 hours and hopefully more.
The lads look at what is happening at Wolves in terms of their injuries and poor form, but overall how they've shown the likes of Everton and Nottingham Forest what can be done when you play by the rules.
They reflect on who Hatters boss Rob Edwards could have been alluding to as potentially being back for this one and how Luton might line up as a result.
There is also a discussion on who the key men will be on both sides before the podcast concludes as always with the score predictions.
All this as well as plenty of laughs throughout the latest episode of the only podcast to go from League 2 to the Premier League!

The Luton Town Supporters' Trust was created, and initially named Trust in Luton, in 2003 to help force out unpopular former owner John Gurney.
Current club chief executive Gary Sweet was part of the group that effectively forced the club into administration and out of Mr Gurney's control, for a new consortium to take over, headed up by Bill Tomlins.
Another change of ownership again brought problems and administration followed again in 2007, until the club was eventually bought out by the fan-led 2020 consortium, headed up by Sweet, which has now helped steer the history-making Hatters from the non-league to the Premier League.
The Supporters' Trust is a democratic, non-profit organisation run by fans for fans. The purpose of a Trust is to help fans to join together and strengthen their influence over the way Luton Town Football Club is run, and to improve the links between their club and the community it serves.
In a way, we’re like a union, believing that many voices are stronger than one and that the best way to influence the club is to represent many fans, not just ourselves.

If Luton get relegated this season, it will be because they didn’t win enough games of football, not because Everton or Forest didn’t have ‘enough’ points deducted by the PL.
Forest have had 4 points deducted and are still a point ahead of Luton.
Everton have won the same number of games as Brighton this season, have had 8 points deducted, yet still sit 8 points ahead of Luton in the table.
In British sports, everyone loves the underdog story, especially the media, battling against the odds etc etc, but if Luton do go down, it will be because they weren’t good enough.
We didn't make the claim in this video that if we go down it will be because of Everton and Forest not getting enough points deducted. We said that other clubs had to sell players to comply with PSR, but those two didn't. Hope that clears things up for you.

Rob got it right in his pre-match chat…essentially he said Luton over-concentrated on the win outcome v Brentford rather than the performance input to achieve that. Spot on. Both sides have improved since we played them …unfortunately Wolves more than us. But we do have a good record v Wolves. I’ll always remember our defeat of them in the FA cup when we were non-league. So, overall, I’m going for a 1-1 draw.
Forest fan here and I'm watching this a day after your lost to West Ham. Who is laughing now. Take a leaf from the Forest podcasts we never put down or laugh at other teams. You lot deserve to go down. Enjoy playing Stoke.

Depends what teams you're talking about? I take it you've not watched this episode where we're complimentary of Wolves? Plus, we've got on well with quite a lot of teams, just not those that have knowingly cheated to gain an advantage. If that's living in Dreamland, then I guess we better get our mail redirected!

three results that shouldn't have been have put us here, losing 4-3 in a game we were winning 3-0 and losses at home to the two teams below us, at least five points better than we are now, possibly seven or nine. forest have two very winnable games against Burnley and Sheffield. and i think now that 32 points is safe.
Bournemouth where on the front foot against wolves last night that's the way Luton have go at wolves
Wolves don't really have that many players out, Dawson and Neto and possibly Bellegard. Nothing like the number of numbers we've had out.

Prediction 1-1 (hope we win, need to so badly). I am gutted we have so many players out. Ogbene playing unnecessary and pointless international friendlies and picking up an injury frustrates me the most.

After Sheffield utd lost at old Trafford last night their relegation will be confirmed this weekend if they lose to Newcastle...
Burnley have basically gone aswel and even moreso if they lose at old Trafford which leaves just one out of luton & forest...
would love to see a Luton win, but going for 2-2.

With recent results this has now become a three horse race to avoid relegation. Forest, Luton, and Burnley. Yep Burnley have sneaked up on us and are now within touching distance. Would be a real sickener if we managed to get above Forest only to get relegated anyway.
I think we need at least 6pts to have a chance of staying up and it'll go down to that final game against Fulham. Wolves I'm predicting another battling 1-1, players will respond after the Brentford game but don't think we'll turn things around that quickly.

We didn't talk about who is in profit on player transfers, or who spent what, we simply spoke about how some teams sold players to comply with PSR. You did not comply with PSR, that is the only fact that matters, and the reasons are irrelevant and flimsy, because rules are rules! Hard to comply with psr when half way through the 3 year cycle the rules change and it's impossible to adhere to them with the rule changes
If I have 3 apples but need to sell two of them, within a set timeframe, to ensure I don't fall foul of clear financial profitability and sustainability rules, but instead I just sell one apple, while claiming that my remaining two apples will 'probably' be worth double, what does that mean? It means you broke the rules. I don't think you're making the point you think you're making.

We were done for PSR breaches were we? This year? Must've missed that one! Missed the part where, despite being in the richest league in the world, we lost more money than we were allowed to.
