I’m going to bookmark this video in case my issue turns out to be the same issue but as others have said it really would have been handy if you had recorded the noise so we could have seen if our issue was the same as yours.
Dude FINALLY!!!! My wife and I have been telling people about a weird WHOOOOOOP noise in our Explorer for the longest. Everyone thinks we're crazy. (My wife thought I was playing a trick on her for months when it first started happening). Been looking for answers forever and couldn't find anything on the internet where other people we having the same issue. THANK YOU!! Finally can get it fixed now.
I wish you had video of the noise. I googled whooping noise and got videos of noises not like outs at all. Did the noise come out of the back? Ours seems to come out of the front. Sounds like a vacuum leak but were told the AC did not have a vacuum.
Mine comes from the front. Sounds like the beginning of a siren but now it's whining and last longer. Had all belts looked at and they couldn't figure it out. Like everyone else's it is intermittently.

How did you get hoses loose from the bottom of the housing
