Have you seen an aircraft climbing very slow on takeoff and made a hairdryer sound? Good chance that it could have been an Airbus A340, also known as the “hairdryer” nicknamed after its engine cone shapes like a hairdryer. The Airbus A340 is a much beloved aircraft in aviation. This footage was taken at different airports around the world. The Airbus A340 made its first flight in 1991. The shortest of the A340 variants is the A340-200 measures 59.4 m (195 ft), and can cover 12,400 km / 6,700 nmi with 210-250 seats in 3-class. The most common of the A340s, the A340-300 can reach 63.7 m (209 ft) to accommodate 250-290 passengers and has a 13,500 km / 7,300 nmi range. The A340-500 is 67.9 m (223 ft) long to seat 270-310 over 16,670 km / 9,000 nmi, the longest-range airliner at the time. The longest A340-600 is stretched to 75.4 m (247 ft), then the longest airliner until the Boeing 747-8 was made. The Airbus A340-600 can accommodate up to 320-370 passengers over 14,450 km / 7,800 nmi. The A340 was designed next to the more successful Airbus A330. "Only" 377 A340 were delivered. Unfortunately for aviation enthusiasts airlines are now rapidly phasing out the Airbus A340 as is it not as fuel efficient as twin engined aircraft, and costs more in maintenance. The early A340s are seriously underpowered, but the later models with upgraded engines definitely improved these magnificent airliners.
The A340-300 use the CFM 56’s if I’m correct but later versions use the RR Trent 500 if I’m correct again
@@RealSaulGoodman78 not exactly,300 did use cfm56 but with more compressor stage,however it still like apus compare to jet engines which use in other wide body airliners

The 340 series is my all time fav. Love them all but the A346 is EVERYTHING.
My dear friends, I am back! I appealed the RUclips "Reused Content Strike" and it got accepted! I have no idea why this happened to me as I film and edit all the content on my channel by myself. The A343 sure makes some harsh buzzsaw, it's the roaaaar like at 14:50 from that South African A346 that I came here for! That thunderous roar never gets old.

I've been on many A340's the one I remember was an old A340-311 from Bogota to Madrid where we had to unload cargo as we were too heavy, even then it took every inch of the Runway to actually get in the air.

Sure man, that A-340 is something else. I bet you could even put an extra power plant in each wing. But my favorite Air Bus will always be the AB-350. Just something about that plane that's so slick a and cool. The front windows alone look like something out of Star Wars and those massive engines are out of sight. To each their own 👍

Looks like you forgot to add London Heathrow to the list in the description of airports at which you filmed. There might be more clips in this video from Heathrow than any other airport!
I always wonder why A340 has extra landing gear and updated A330-900 does not. Even though A330-900 can do nearly same long range missions. How is the fuel weigh supported in A330-900?
The a330-900 is much newer meaning it probably uses lighter materials, so doesn't need an extra landing gear bogie as it weighs lighter than the a340.

A340 is the European Queen of the Skies. Unfortunately, it is out of production now.
I once thought that the A340 was most powerful and fastest aircraft since it has 2x the number of engines but only 1.3x more capacity than the A330. 😂

The 777-9 is larger than the A340-600. The 777-300ER is only 5 feet shorter than the A340-600. All 777s have longer wingspans.
Basically the same size, but the 777 has much better engines.

Beautiful aircraft with four engines,greater margin of safety in the event of engine failure,two engine jets should be be banned from crossing oceans or mega long distance flights,when does fuel economy top safety of passengers,put a few quid on fares to cover the extra fuel costs I’m sure the people on these flights would pay it willingly if they thought about it seriously.
Two engine planes are safe to fly over oceans. I fly over the pacific twice a year in a Boeing 767, and an airbust 321 neo, and a330. No problems whatsoever.
