    Great video, I also held the blade on the outside of my hand for a better grip and stabbing motion. You use an open hand for manipulation while you slash, stab, and cut. Very effective!

    I love how many idiots on here think that this wouldn't work in a real fight or think they could beat one of these guys! Krav Maga was designed by an old Israeli man who saw his entire family slaughtered by the Nazis and he swore he would never let anything like that happen again so he invented Krav Maga and incorporated many different styles of martial arts as well as street fighting techniques to teach a man to be a living weapon! I have learned some of the martial arts incorporated into Krav Maga and believe me when I say that when used properly they are extremely devastating! Some are even lethal!

"
      1. Imrich Lichtenfeld, the founder of Krav Maga, was not an old Israeli but a Jew from Slovakia!
      2. At the time there was no state Israel!
      3. He fleed in 1940 from Slovakia to Palestine while the first deportations of Slovakian Jews started only in 1942!!! So how could he see his family slaughtered by the Nazis??!!

      +Matthew Myers I won't start an internet "fight". I learn and teach kali and learned also Krav-Maga (and many other systems which are not important now). So I know where these drills are coming from. I don't teach Krav-Maga as kali or making videos about stolen techniques. It is showing disrespect to other systems.

    In a knife vs. knife fight, are people likely to throw such big attacks (genuine question, that's not a criticism)? Either way, what do you do if they're sniping at your hands and forearms instead of targeting the body?

    Quit being a hater,go practice an art like this. Start as slow as you can,build up speed as fast as you can.Then when you're so fast that you're actually dodging fast attacks.
    Then come back to martial art vids like this & say it's fake or doesn't happen in reality!

    yeah i agree with Ukmmafighter if some one goes straight for the kill then they are either ambushing you or you are behind in timing. that is tapping and not where you want to be. you should be getting of line of the attack and striking back. if you get the hand then finish close quarters. but if they are trying to attack your knife hand or arm. then it will become more of a real fight or how one should be. if this is a true knife fight then you two or more should be moving and bridge with the knife jab or high line slash attacks.

    I'd like to see how these moves hold up against a faster pissed off opponent.

    • @username-kr2fz
      @username-kr2fz 8 лет назад +2

      Well the answer is two-fold. First of all Krav Maga is a military combat system. Military combat systems are focused on keeping the combatant fighting with the opponent for as long as possible, because the soldier is expendable and it does not matter if he dies since he is protecting his group. Although it can be altered to try and suit self-defence, it wasn't the primary intention of the system. The proper defence is to make an exit and run the fuck away. Secondly, I don't understand the Italian, but I understand the movement. In a lot of these counters he moves off-line to the opponents outside before parrying and then before striking. This means that if his parry fails then he has still voided the attack and can continue fighting. Yes this is harder to pull off against a faster opponent, or even worse one that is repeatedly attacking. But, if he does fuck up he has made a measure to cover his failed defence, which is a smart move that most people don't think of.

    • @ClintDecker148
      @ClintDecker148 8 лет назад

      That doesn't make sense. Yes, the defense is to run. The soldier's goal however is to put down the threat using whatever means necessary, not to keep fighting him. You also don't use methods that are very difficult to use against an aggressive a opponent. There's no point.

    • @username-kr2fz
      @username-kr2fz 8 лет назад

      ClintDecker148 That is what I was trying to say, the soldier has to keep fighting the enemy till the enemy is no longer a threat. In a self-defence situation you usually aim to escape as soon as you can rather than disabling the attacker first.

    • @ClintDecker148
      @ClintDecker148 8 лет назад

      Why not use a simple karate punch block, followed with a series of thrusts to just under the ribs/ Use downward 360 defense followed by thrusts?

    • @kanevsjolt
      @kanevsjolt 8 лет назад +1

      Well, this seems to be instruction. They may or may not move on to more advanced maneuvers and contingencies later on. This seems to be the basics.
      Besides, this isn't a mixed martial arts instruction, its for the principles of Krav Maga. Not that i claim to be an expert. I'm just offering a possible explanation.

    • @GrimeSponge
      @GrimeSponge 9 лет назад

      +Liberty Garden I bet you can find something or think of something. Pure aggression doesn't always win at the end of the day, that's why people can kill wolves and bears and lions and tiger's with knifes if their trained, I'm not saying these methods in the video are effective or not affective against that kind of attack, but I would say if you train to fight a guy that's just going to rush you and try to grab a hold of you or your clothing and stab you as many times as possible until you're fatally wounded, you might be overwhelmed if you're not expecting it and die, but if you take time to prepare for that you could defeat it. I think some kind of direct stab in the heart would be the most beautiful, but surely there are other ways.

    You know, you can train all you want for a knife attack. The reality is, the training won't help you prevent the opposing knife from stabbing you, though it might let you win the fight. To all of you who might be involved with a fight like this in the future.... Be prepared to see some dark arterial bleeding and to not stop what you're doing and freak out over it, but to continue attacking the subject so you don't get killed. Good luck

    I pulled my blade on a dude who came at me last night in a Chinese restaurant. I had 2 beers did my laundry was getting some food. Fool said I touched his truck? Told him to fuck off. He comes at me I see something in his hands. I pull my blade a very sturdy piece. Women and children literally run out of the restaurant screaming. I was gonna go for a kill left side of his neck. He said am I supposed to be afraid? Well I guess he was cause he backed the fuck down. I will avoid that bar but if I ever see that fool again it's on. Thing I like about a blade is you never have to reload. Saved me from a pit bull who came at me twice the second time he saw the blade. and backed down. Even a pit bull has common sense don't fuck with cold steel. Thanks for the video.

    Yeah I think the first thing you would want to do is seize the knife arm and disarm your opponent in knife versus knife combat practically speaking, defang the serpent and then follow up with strikes to vital points instead of brushing aside strikes like normal combat, fuck stepping back you need to end that fight fast. Plus they should be going over how to get out of a grapple with blade technique as well as teaching how to stop the opponents weapon like users of systema.

By putting ur thumb up half the blade your only giving them half of the stab. Anyway... that's what this guy did but it was still pretty gnarly. One wound stays in my mind. He got stabbed in the pectoral muscle and the fat popped out. It looked like a huge chunk of bubble gum stuck to his chest

    really lookks like filipino knife fighting... kali eskrima

      Isn't that what Krav Maga is? An effective hybrid martial arts that takes many part of other martial arts that work and put it in their situation. Yes this knife fighting style might come from kali eskrima, while many of their grappling and take down might come from akkido, judo, jiujitsu or any form. They work.

      TheGrave10der the problem is that... the method of teaching is wrong.... you cannot be very efficient knife fighter in Kali if you start empty hand.... Weapons (sticks and knives) are learned FIRST for a reason... 1) it will give you sense of distance and deeper understanding of triangular footwork 2) it will give you very fast reflexes and intuitive reaction because a stick travels 150 miles per hour.. 3) the weight of the weapon contributes to the development of your muscle so that your hands will be faster and your gripping power will be enhanced.... you can't just add or subtract a particular technique.. you must also understand the method of teaching a martial art to build the proper attribute....

    its fake you are suppose to grab there arm and hold it with your hand dont just block it with your palm

    • @username-kr2fz
      @username-kr2fz 8 лет назад

      Go and grab anybody you knows arm, and ask them to pull their hand out. It is impossible to keep a tight grip on somebody's limb if they try and resist, and it would be extremely hard to grab a moving attack. Just parrying does the same to stop the attack and keeps you free to follow up.

      Nelson McGuigan thats why you're supposed to just block the attack,you're not grabbing the other person's arm,just stopping it for a brief second to give you enough time to kill or badly injure them.You will never hold it for more than 1-1.5sec

    in reality, no technique works on someone with a knife. hell even a kid with a knife will mess up these guys in the video on the streets. truth.

      +Chris Douglas Not necessarily, knife attacks are brutal and fast. A prison yard rush, a common stabbing attack, is extremely difficult to defend against. Whilst some of the techniques demonstrated could be useful, actual knife attacks are terrifyingly hard to defend against. Though I suppose this is better than nothing, right?

      Johnathan Rush The best knife defense is to RUN. I would rather have a gun in my face. Those are actually much easier to get out of the way of the kill zone.
