Talk about a well oiled machine. Were it not for the fact that my brother and I worked well together in our younger days, I would have thought it was choreographed. A pleasure to watch. Thanks.

Tip from a floor installer: when you cut that expansion in the slab we always use one of the big yellow grout sponges (or the kind you would wash your car with) get it wet and hold it right behind touching the grinder blade and it won’t spit dust everywhere. Save you some clean up before sealing maybe. Good job 👍🏼

You took all the character from that slab out! In my opinion it looked way, way,way better. But, I do see that the owners wanted it to look brand new and to seal it against future cracks or weed growth. But first it looked like a big flat old stone. Now it looks like plain grey cement. Oh well.

I learned when ever you come up with a resurfacing job on old concrete , Is to make sure
to always use a "Bonding Agent " spraying om all of the old concrete .
Better to be safe and know you have "Good Adhesion" to the old and new concrete
Good Job Guys Hope the job all works out as planned ......................

@@Frindleeguy Well this is a first for me to see when resurfacing older concrete or even day old concrete say for brick laying , after 20 years or 24 hours it is standard for superior adhesion to spray on a good quality ADHESION PROMOTOR
I suppose advances in concrete additives have gained a better adhesion without the use of a pre adesion promotor but I would test
both methods before doing a large job , As well the cost comparisons
besides long term lifespan of repair............ just sayin my 25 cents worth :):):)

Make sure to tell people to cut the slab joints only 1/3 to 1/2 the way down and not to go all the way through. Reason = these joints are made to have the stress fracture in it and the vertical and horizontal jagged edges in the crack itself help hold the two slabs together as they rises and fall. This is to prevent one slab of concrete rising above the slab next to it. The crack itself actually locks the two slabs into each other. And I think we all have seen or had an encounter with that pesky trip hazzard slab sticking 2 inches above the slab next to it on diy projects that cut all the way through before.

Years ago, I had this done on a small backyard concrete patio, and it fairly quickly (after one very cold winter) began to chip back out. The prep work was pretty much done as you did it in this video. I was informed by another masonry contractor that the mistake made was not using a bonding agent. I saw you only spray water (hydrating); that might help with bonding, but I don't believe it is a bonding agent. Wish you had used some of that in this video, so I could see what it is and how to apply it.
I have a concrete driveway also, that needs repair of much deeper pitting than was the case in this video. Does that change the process you use?
Good video, I did learn some of the technique.

as usual, prepping is a key part of a good outcome. How easy is it to remove the grey 'over spill' that the taper missed? Since the over spill is likely to have been sealed, I would hope that simple "pressure washing" isn't the answer (or it would imagine that pressure washing any of it, at least initially, would damage the surface)

Fantastic videos. Just one question. Contractors up here in Central New York tell me no repairs or recreate will last through the winter‘s here. (Pool patio)
Do you have any jobs done in deep frost regions that are several years old?

How does this compare to 1131 Resurfacer from Quickrete, or Rapid Set Resurfacer? This material although it is not paint, it does look like paint.

How much should this cost to have a contractor do the work ? And, how long should the resurfacing last ?

I wouldn't be surprised if it would be the same price as replacing the entire driveway all together. That's usually how these alternatives work out.

He stated he is using the 250 SF repair kit. Their site has it at $400. Figure miscellaneous expenses at another $200. So $600+- in material. Labor from 1 professional is minimum of $500/day. I haven't watched the whole video yet but easy to say $1,000 minimum in labor plus the $600 in material. Round up to $2,000.

This reminds me of one of those gypsy jobs something that looks decent but get a bad name because they charge almost as much as they could have got a new concrete slab for how much did you charge for this and how long does it last and do you have some that are 5to8 years old we could look at if it is reasonable I would like to do mine

I enjoyed watching this process come together in the video but,, was too anxious wanting to do the job myself on my own driveway. I watched the entire video last night around 2:00 am. How will the product hold up through the severe winter weather as I live in Pennsylvania?

Loved the tutorial! It's 5:40 am and still prepping my 2 car garage slabs all night long so I can do some poly injections but needed a break and saw this and now its over. I will be doing that to the back patio, when its not freezing out in a few months, which I think is about 300 square ft. What kind of traffic can that coating take as that looks like I might want to do the garage also or should I just stick with the resurfacer plan. Looks about the same process thought just different product. Thanks for the complete version, you don't get to see that very often with all the tips from someone who can explain exactly why it's this way or that.

Acid etching would help alot love that shroud tho don't have to get wet mabie get one of those concrete needle scalers to remove that top layer exposing the Aggregate to make a better surface to bond to and that top coat is way to thin the less water you use the stronger it makes the concrete and anytime you do this you wana add some type of concrete fibers to it dosent just break up that coat is gena crack and basically turn to dust in a short amount of time its gena have problems the first winter but hey its a good hustle I admit that and at least you sealed it and re cut the joints
