Hello Dana, Thank you for this video , so useful and informative. I can't say how much I am wanting to come back to Bangkok to source fabrics for my own business project and 863 textiles sounds looks a must visit. Sadly for now all i can do is drool at the fabrics on video and wish for covid to go away all the way from France. Take care and keep producing great videos !
Thank you so much! I am really glad you enjoyed it. 863 absolutely has to be on your list. We have a few more fabric sourcing videos in the works as well as some garment design videos we brainstorming. SamPeng is another market you would want to check out for sourcing, but you will need to either know Thai or have someone with you that can help as there are only a few shops that can support non-Thai speakers. We actually just sourced a few bolts of denim and shipped it to France for a client. We have an export license so we actually source for a handful of clients in Europe and the US, both fabric and finished garments, depends on what the need it. Got to keep the studio busy. Hopefully travel opens up this year and we can start letting people back into the country, the local economy could really use it.
Beautiful fabrics! Great haul. I’m just getting more and more excited to visit Thailand. I need a plane ticket or I need to get rid of my tv and RUclips 🤣 I hope to come in June. ✌🏻
Larraine, Thank you! I hope you can make it here! Bangkok is the greatest city in the world and 863 is one of the most amazing fabric spots I have ever been to! there are a number of other great spots as well. J Fabric, which I covered a haul in a previous video. As well as SamPeng market and a few other locations I will be visiting soon. If you come feel free to let me know, I am always down to go fabric sourcing. :-)
@@IdeaStudioBKK 🙏🏻 thank you. My husband and I are going to try and come for all of June. (2 weeks quarantine first) I’m not a RUclipsr (I have one video) but I’m going to make a few to introduce ourselves. I’ve enjoyed watching several other people’s videos and we want to meet you all. A small bit about us. I love running, modeling and working with special needs kids. My husband is a pilot. Very cheerful and happy people, we do not belong nor do we fit in America. 2 more years and we will be moving away (hopefully!!)🙏🏻✌🏻 thank you again. I’ll stay in touch.
Thanks. And I am! I’m going to keep trying to make some videos and try to edit them they way others do but not the same way others do. I try to fit in but I enjoy standing out. 😁
Lovely video, I'm in Bangkok at the moment and I'm searching for fabric printing to make my own designs but it's really hard to communicate with the factories as they don't speak any English & I don't know how to find any suppliers to easily communicate with, any advice would be really appreciated?
Hi Dina, Welcome to Bangkok! an amazing city. Yes, speaking Thai is sort of a requirement to do business here, especially with fabric factories. What volume are you looking for?
After looking at google maps I know where this is, there used to be a lot of good street food carts not too far away from there, not sure if they are still around given the lockdown.
@@IdeaStudioBKK for example www.owtextile.com/ Forget the website, but this adress is important, this entire soi consists of fabric manufactures. I feel like I'm playing catchup on your videos, but what do you all make? What I mean is - how are you making money there? You refer to a haberdashy and a "line"...do you have a website somewhere?
hey Becky, Welcome to the community. This video is a few years old. At the time we did have a few lines that were in production under out own brands, but ended up transitions to designing and producing white label products other brands.

It's not a common item to find, so you have to be on the look out for it. I would check with 863, the shop in this video as well, they have a large selection, but not sure I have ever seen that there. Sometimes it's all about the hunt.
Hey Geoffrey, right now the store on the Dapper Villains site is closed while we complete our full line of garments. But that that should be up and running soon. we are hoping to get things settled in the next few weeks. We are getting new samples in next week and then we will be making any final adjustments before going to production.
Hey Craig, I have never seen real batik fabric by the roll. It's pretty complex to make the traditional way. I've seen a lot of it for sale in Malaysia and Indonesia. In Bangkok tho, at the Queen Sirikit Museum there there is a wonderful display of batik fabric that I believe Rama 4 or Rama 5 brought back from Indonesia. The curator was telling me that much of it was thought to be lost and was found in storage a few years back when they were doing inventory on an old part of the palace, and it was still in great condition. Once things are open back up I hope to go back for another visit.
