    if literally 5 nba palters invested in the WNBA this all would change. There's no reason the wnba doesn't have a g league , more team spots, or more teams in general. They cant expect to grow the exposure if we cant watch the college players we know and love. I've never watched a WNBA game but I watch the NCAA every single year. This years NCAA got me interested in watching the WNBA but cutting the player that caught my attention to tune in is not the way to go. Great video.

    • @mrjay3047
      @mrjay3047 Год назад +5

      I understand what you’re saying but you also explained why people don’t invest financially. At the end of the day it’s a business & if you haven’t invested time watching then people aren’t going to invest their money. It’s unfortunate that our favorite players are not necessarily the best players. A developmental league sounds like a great idea but it would have to be purely voluntary or worse the players would have to pay like a rec league. I wish the appreciation was here for the W as it is overseas because then it would be more roster spots. There are a lot of great women with great stories in the league that are worth getting to know as well now then when that’s done, people buy tickets and merchandise then we can hopefully get more sponseeship

  • @sadiM653
    @sadiM653 Год назад +4

    I think they just did that not because she is not good in comparison. People are just set in their ways especially if you are coming in as a newbie it’s hard to win people over. 1 game can’t determine a persons talent. I have been, not on this scale, but in a situation where I was the better player but due to the body build of the person and the over critical judgement of the people judging me I was not picked. That person they picked couldn’t even do a lay up no shade. It’s not always about talent, some people are just very specific about who and what they don’t want for no real particular reason at all. Something they make up in their heads. Trust and believe the person they keep over Alexis Morris will ride the bench all season and be the supportive team player cheerleader they were looking for. Again No shade.

    Unfortunately that's part of the game. There's only 144 spots max and given cap space issues it probably more likely 139. There's only a handful of retirements and pregnancies in a year so that leaves about 10-15 spots for draftees and players who have been grinding overseas to compete for.
    Getting drafted outside of the top 3 is mostly down luck as to if they need your position or not. If Morris wants it i think she can make s name for herself overseas and AU to get another training camp contract next year. Also dont rule out, injuries also lead to waived players filling in. She's talented enough to bounce back from this.

    @richardwhatley6505 Год назад +2

    Not surpried. It would have taken a miracle for Alexis to make the team. She probably was the lowest on the team debt chart. Even if she played great she was getting cut. She would have to look like she was better than 4 or 5 players. So unless these other players were playing terribly she wasn't getting picked. Not enough roster spots, also not enough time to evaluate unknown players talent with the short training camp. Teams can't take chances on young talent. Even if that talent looks like they might can be even better in the future. Most of the teams are trying to win. If she had gotten picked by a team like Indiana last year she might have made that roster. A young team that wants to play young players with a shot at being in the lottery.

In fact, top college super stars can earn millions with NIL deals, so what's the point in going to the WNBA just to earn under $75, 000 on a rookie contract? At least create a developmental league or practice squads like the NBA and NFL. 🤔💯

    I was at the game. And I am a huge fan supporter Alexis believer.
    There are three big problems. 1. Not enough spots. So no room for developing players. 2. Players like Olivia Nelson-Ododa and Dijonai Carrington and Sika Kone were balling out. These aren’t even vets or top 10 players. And New York didn’t even play their big 3 in the game (Stewie, Jonquel and Courtney). And Alexis didn’t stand out Bec she needs experience.
    3. Size. Alexis is tiny both in height and strength. On a team with Alyssa Thomas, Bri Jones and really big strong players, it’s tough.
    She needs to play overseas in a market where she can develop her skills and gain experience. No shade.
