It's funny to me that this was made by 2 guys from the city it's based on where i was raised, Barnsley lmao. Some of the refs for anyone who's not local or british. "10 bob" is a slang term for 50p Ding Dong the With is Dead/Milk Snatcher are references to the hate the area has towards Maggie Thatcher. The postcode and Number plates on cars "TH1 M4M" is basically "your mom" Oily Baps because Baps are a local slang term for breasts/bum cheeks. Lady Di is a nod to Lady Diana of the Royal family The writing in the chippy "Roger is a nonce", nonce is a slang term started in prisons that stands for "Not On Normal Courtyard Exercise" and are what the US refers to as "ChoMos". PoundShaggers is just a reference to the sheer number of £1/$1 stores in the area. The BIF dumpsters are because in the area the main supplier of commercial waste dumpsters is a brand called BIFFA The SPICE stand is because SPICE is a local term for Sweets/Candy. While the Yu-Gi-Oh reference is obvious, "Yu-Gi-O'er" is also how you'd say "You give over" in the local dialect, and yes these packs are 90% fakes and a scam. The white shite bottles are a reference to the british cider drink "White Lightning" commonly drank by teens. Dogging is a british thing more than a barnsley thing but it means to go out and sometimes meet up with others, usually in a secluded car park and do the deed. Ticklers choice is a reference to the "Amber Leaf" tobacco packs Rajs Chargers is just a parody of the usually 3-5 stalls you'll find on Barnsleys indoor markets selling fake branded products and will usually load a virus onto your phone if you request a repair so you're a return customer.
Dude has the hose in his pants, you turn on the hose and see the water travelling through it, then see his pants leak. The tomato grows. Then he pulls out the hose, turns out it's not spouting any water, then says "looks like we didn't need the hose after all". Hmmmm.
One of the best things about British comedy is their ability to say the most incredibly out of pocket nonsense with the most deadpan expressions on their face.
When I first saw a play through it honestly hadn't registered to me how many characters had said "thank goodness you're here", I knew it was the title but I was a tad too distracted by all of it's antics
Feel like if you guys enjoyed this game, I would really recommend the Sam & Max trilogy by Telltale (yes, the same guys who did the walking dead). It's definitely some of the funniest games I've ever played, and the entire trilogy just got beautifully remastered by Skunkape Games, a studio with mostly old Telltale employees
