I would not give up my Air Force service for any thing. Super to see Air Force put a good marching band in the field . Thanks airmen right on. It was a honor good program and done in a military fashion.
I wish there was more of these wonderful displays of patriotic gatherings! The youngsters of today need to be exposed to this. This country is the best nation on earth and kids and young adults need to understand this and cherish and protect our way of freedom and liberty. Until one lives somewhere else other than USA this is not fully understood. Go Air Force! Thank you to all who have served and do serve this great nation!!!
50 years ago when I was working at the "Park" everything stooped for retreat, the Disneyland band marched down main street and D-Land security would smartly lower the flag. As a cast member if you were in hearing distance of that you stopped whatever you were doing and stood respectfully.
The same is still done at retreat on an Army post. Even at the age of eight I got stopped one time by an MP for not standing at attention. :-) After that -- I remembered! :-)
Iris, You are absolutely right. EVERYONE should stand, not only for the flag, but for the men and woman serving OUR country. ANYTHING less IS disrespectful, plain and simple!
funny. because in many society, eastern or european, kneeling in one foot are thr symbol of high regard and upmost allegiances, that most kings, a nation leaders and religious leader would expects from their subject.

Interesting to see Master Sergeants and Senior Master Sergeants in the band which means the band members are older than most military marching bands that I’ve seen. I also didn’t know you could get that high of an enlisted rank as a musician. It must be unique to the USAF or these are USAF Reservists.
I was USAF '66 to '70. The members of the military bands are among the finest musicians in our nation. Since I was in the USAF, I presume the standards are even higher and more demanding aka challenging than they were years ago. The application, audition, and selection process is as challenging as any position in one of our nation's top symphonic orchestras. Not every musician who applies may be selected; the musical standards are very, very challenging. In the military band, membership is a prestige and VIP profession with steady pay, and a rewarding career with outstanding retirement benefits beginning after 20 years of service. So long as they maintain their skills and the need for their professional skills endures, members may choose to serve more years, too. Many military band members are graduates of undergraduate and graduate degree music school programs. They have all qualified via demanding professional auditions ... similar to selection in our nation's symphony orchestras. Band members who play instruments are all enlisted personnel but may receive special time in grade promotions based on their musical skill and professional accomplishments, so one may see senior NCOs who are, relatively young, as compared to some other military occupations. But musicians have to meet the same tough standards and training that all military members complete. They are airmen, Marines, army, and navy personal first and their military occupation (in this case musician) second. They serve an important and valuable military service ...morale boosters for their fellow service people and, as you witness on RUclips, outstanding ambassadors for their service branch. The band's directors aka managers = leaders are officers and musicians who have applied for and met the standard requirements for military officers and special requirements for musicians.
All members of the USAF Band (the two premier bands--instrumentalists and vocalists--based in D.C.) are automatically promoted to TSgt if they aren't already at the grade when they audition. They could even promote directly to TSgt upon graduating BMT and being accepted into the band if they meet the band's requirements as most, if not all, of the members have BFA's in Music. The automatic promotion also applies to the members of the Singing Sergeants as well.
I love that performance..great sounds. ..professionel playing...i like espacially the susaphones! I heard this concert many times...❤ to my american friends
I can't believe, no wait I can because they haven't been taught any better to respect our flag. The number of people who just sat while our color guard passed by with the flag down Mainstreet. Proper respect is to stand and place your hand over your heart as the flag passes by.
Iris McBride They are all tourists, a lot of them don't know the proper courtesies when the colors pass by, which is taught with great emphasis for members of the military. But, I don't think any of these people meant disrepect though.
I was in Mexico City when the huge La Bandera that flies in the Zocolo was carried by, all rolled up. I didn't have a clue and left my hat on. Then I'm trying to translate what people were shouting about "el sombrero". One of my friends snatched it off my head and took care of that. Was I embarrassed!
Maybe they have not figured out yet how we as a nation have freedom Iris McBride . But if we ever loose our freedoms they will some figure it out . You are not they only one who has pointed this out .
That was a great video as I watch it four years later BUT...If you make another retreat video maybe you could follow the Disneyland security as they lower and fold the flag ? We had plenty of time to watch the band. Thanks.
Da alegría ver y oír esta banda. Aquí en España por el hecho de llevar la bandera española, te silban, insultan y si pueden te pegan. Para muchos españoles, la bandera tiene matices políticos uno es considerada como tal. Os envidio sanamente.
Video and audio are out of sync. I see instruments changing notes a half beat before the sound changes. (That's one of the most annoying things to a musician/audio guy.) Otherwise, I enjoyed the music.
Everyone needs to relax. It's not disgusting. I live in Canada, while I would never sit personally. I don't think it's being disrespectful, I just like to believe in the greater good of people. I really don't think that's there intention, when your on vacation sometimes your head is in the clouds, everyone is overstimulated. Sometimes parents are on there feet so much that even the littlest chance to sit down & take a breather they do. Your also in a sugar rich, caffeine environment. Let's just give people the benefit of the doubt. We have had family serve in the military & serve in the police department. Honestly people don't even have enough respect for funeral processions these days. But I still try to believe in the greater good. Be the bigger person. Just because you think it, doesn't mean it needs to come out & actually say it or write it. After all that's what God wants us to do. , get along & to be good to each other!
We can never compare to the honor Canadians give their fallen soldiers coming home On THE HIGHWAY OF HEROS . We have such a mix of peoples here and I am not sure they know to stand Carla Songs . But you can bet anyone who has served in the armed forces are standing . G-D Bless the United States and Canada .
You know it's not a well known issue to stand when an honor guard walks by. Just because you know and others don't doesn't make it disgusting. People need to relax. It's a flag, not the body of George Washington
Maybe they should learn it then instead of texting on their cell phones Chris Smith . This is know excuse for not knowing do they even understand that people bleed and died so we could have freedom ?
Chris Smith Its more important that the body of George Washington. Its a picture of everything our country represents and all those who worked, fought, bleed, and died for it.
The only reason I know to get up when the flag is passing me is because I come from a military family. Not everyone knows to stand for the flag when it passes you.
George Washington would be the first to tell you that the flag is more important than he is. It is about respect for the patriots that have served under it, for the many that have died for it and for the millions that dream to be here just to see it over their heads.
@@paaat001 George Washington might also tell you being an American doesn't mean embracing fascism since his whole shtick helping to begin this country was to fight tyranny. He might also tell you vaccinations are cool and good because he did stand by them when he had his army vaxxed for smallpox. Of course he might also tell you owning some humans of darker complexion is ok too. Don't ascribe things to Washington that you don't know.
This is very presumptous but if possible could you please take me to Shohei Ohtani in time. I will chant for the good time but sooner would be better, because he is Still Joing the Game! I have already informed my address to US Armed Forces. Probably, you have known my number too, becuase I told you it , too, but I have no idea who's calling. If you are wearing your military uniform and some emblem, I would notice it is you. I am chanting for that. Thank you. Miki Takagi P. S. If Mrs. Aitken, the Anaheim Mayor would come together with you, it could be preferrable. But I am not sure if it is possible or not. I will try to ask her. Thank you very much Miki Takagi Ahaheim Mayor knows my address with phone number, too. I will be in touch with her.
Playing the solo with multiple picc players is significantly harder than with just one player. Also, The President's Own also performs Stars and Stripes with multiple picc players during the solo.
And all like-minded SGI of all over the world! Thanks to your Earnest Daimoku, I have got much Buddha wisdm for Excellent Approach! Thank you very much, all SGI in the world!

Walt Disney was very patriotic and he took these things super seriously, one of the reasons why I really respect him

The first song they play is the American emblem March.. Souza said that was the best March that he ever did not compose.
Very moving.
It wasn’t composed by Sousa; rather the National Emblem March was composed by Edwin Eugene Bagley.
to all of our veterans and men and women of our military, and all Americans of the constitution of the USA.. God bless us and God bless America..

That's why America has a flag code. It literally tells you the proper procedure when in the presence of a flag.

Addendum: my oath of enlistment was, probably, the best decision that I ever; with no regre.
Muito linda a apresentação da banda e coro.

I think it would be awesome to see them play with the 1st Marine Division Band
I should be joining soon I just have to find out more information!! I talked with my recruiter today!!
Good luck to you Gabrielle. I hope the experience is all you expected.
Hope you the best
Wow! A Militairy Conductor actually conducting the Band and not being a Robotic Metronome :-)
I LOVE MARCHING BANDS !!!

Excellent video. Thanks for posting it online for all to enjoy.
I love marshing bands. Simply beautiful music. May there be more such wonderful patriotic shows, gatherings. The heart grows.
That dude is comically taller than everybody else
That was a great video as I watch it four years later BUT...If you make another retreat video maybe you could follow the Disneyland security as they lower and fold the flag ? We had plenty of time to watch the band. Thanks.
Isn't the baritone section great! Especially the tall baritone player! My nevvy.
I'd like to be member, playing such wonderful music too...
Norbert Hofmann y’all with your local recruiter! He should be able to tell you more about it
Fantastic
What is the name of the March they play first? I really wanna know!
National Emblem March. For the specific part they played search on youtube " trio from National Embem"
Da alegría ver y oír esta banda. Aquí en España por el hecho de llevar la bandera española, te silban, insultan y si pueden te pegan. Para muchos españoles, la bandera tiene matices políticos uno es considerada como tal. Os envidio sanamente.
What is that cadence called when they first march
I wish the Air Force color would contain the battle streamers…
Well liked it, but why is there this strange placement of drums, tubas, at the edge of the band? This produced an off balance sound.
True but the sousa players were puffing there cheeks so that’s why it sounded bad
Video and audio are out of sync. I see instruments changing notes a half beat before the sound changes.
(That's one of the most annoying things to a musician/audio guy.)
Otherwise, I enjoyed the music.
I've had the same problem to sometimes. It's either youtube messing things up or the computer not up to scratch.
What was the first song they played? I heard the Marine corps play it at a graduation when retiring the guidon?
Kayden Downey Trio National Emblem. They do also play it during "Exchange Guidon".
AIR POWER
The Disneyland visitors don’t stand fir the American flag?

Fine band and selections. Poor jackets. Possibly the tallest tallest French horn player in the country.
I think I prefer the marines uniforms
2:14 looks epic
Can anyone tell me the name of the song at 1:45
