Have you ever noticed that when a group like this starts playing spontaneously, everybody around starts smiling. When this group starts playing with such beauty, such power, such professionalism people fight to hold back the tears. This music, this band, like the US Navy band, touches people deeply. They speak with the power of love, beauty and hope and bring pride to our nation.
WOW! USAF! Thank you from our family whose Dad was an F-80 pilot shot down over North Hell Korea and spent 14 months as a POW! Glorious! Wonderful! Praise God! Love you, Daddy!
I lose it every time I watch this video. The songs, by themselves--but then there's family lost in service to the U.S. and to the Crown, and yup, I lose it. Thank you, USAF Band.
I've watched this video every year since someone sent me the link back in 2013. I start my holidays with this viewing. Very proud to have served in the USAF!
I am happy to say that I watch it every year too and I post it to share the joy with others each year as well. This performance still makes me cry every time!!!
Thank you for your service! I also watch it every year and sometimes during the year as well if the mood strikes me :) Make sure you copy this somehow in case they ever take it down. SO MANY times I have a favorite video and then BOOOM, its gone. I have a backup just in case :)
This is, by far, the highest ranking group of mostly enlisted U.S. Air Force personnel I've ever seen, including during my four years of service between 1968 to 1972, which means these airmen musicians, on average, have been in for some years and must truly love what they are doing. It certainly shows. Beautiful.
My heart is full of pride for our military. I am a retired Army veteran. My son serves in the Army. My son serves in the Air Force. We would have it no other way. May God continue to bless this nation with those who would go into harms way for this nation.
Me too. One of the snare drummers for Keesler AFB Drum & Bugle Corps, 1955. Served later as an automatic tracking radar tech for SAC until my discharge in late 1958. They were four of the best years of my life. I'm now 84.
LOVE this video! As a Christian & the wife of a career USAF musician, I just couldn't be prouder / happier to see this amazing video. What a way to celebrate Christmas! Thanks so much for posting this . . . I'll show my husband right away.
After 30 years in the military (and still serving) this brought tears to my eyes. So, to all my fellow airmen serving away from home this holiday season...Merry Christmas and stay safe!
Just 'annointed'.... This never gets old. It makes me sad that the man who led this band no longer does. Such a blessing. Look at the instant smiles and looks of peace and joy that comes across all the visitors faces with this amazing music.
In 1970, I had the pleasure of playing with the USAF Band in Panama, S.A. It was one of the highlights of my music career! A side by side concert with the Band and the Balboa High School Band and Orchestra.....will never forget it!!!!!
My wife and I were there and it was an incredibly wonderful experience! I truly wish circumstances were different and these flash concerts could happen once again so others could experience these wonderful musicians. I truly enjoy watching the Colonel so obviously enjoying what he is doing as well!
I started crying when this played. Helped me out tremendously in an article I’ve been cooking up. Thank you to the wonderful airmen of the U.S. Air Force Band. ❤️
Yet another reason to love our Military! Such devoted and talented individuals! Makes me very proud to be an American. Would have been the best day every to have witnessed this in person.
Wow, just wow. As a former Army Sgt. the son-in-law of an Army guy who got his nose shot off in WWII, and the son of an Army guy whose life was saved by an Airforce P51 pilot in the first week of the Korean war, this gave me chills.
An Athiest, A Crossfitter, and a Vegitarian walk into a bar... how do you know? Because they announce it as soon as it can be shoe-horned into conversation.
The world needs more music randomly popping up out of no where. Flash mobs in public settings where no one expects are truly magical. Also those trumpets!!!! Goosebumps! They make me want to pick up my trumpet again after I set it aside for half a year since graduating high school.
Thanks for this, I belonged to Lutheran church of over a thousand member in a town of 500, we opened our Christmas morning service with this song, sang by three choirs and brass band playing, and the organist playing znd the congregation singing as loud as they could. We would shake the rafters of the gothic 100 year old church, one of the fondest and most beautiful memories of my youth in Bode Iowa.
The minute that young cellist sits down, the tears well up. Joined by the equally best America has as bassist -- I'm done. Floodgates. Can't even mention the young Ladies up top. Fly High Air Force!!!
Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring. Thank you Mr. Bach and the USAF Band for this testament to who Jesus Christ is. Thank you Jesus for what you did and who you are.
unbelievably beautiful!!! USAF, if you can only hear me clapping.....i shed a tear of delight and admiration.....thank you for the honour and pleasure of viewing this and listening to this.....with much prayers for the wellbeing of everyone of you in the U.S. Air Force!!!
Speechless. A most beautiful heart rendering performance. I imagine that all those USAF gifted musicians went through basic training, capable of defending their country if need be. Only a heathen would denounce this. Poor souls.
After seeing this last year, I remembered it instantly. It is a most beautiful presentation of the Joy of Christmas done by such a skilled group of musicians by the men and women who so wonderfully give of their time & lives to protect us and our freedoms. Awesome!!!!
Aldrin Bula Started trombone, did several years on baritone, switched to trumpet when "No pass - No Play" went into effect in Texas basically wiping out the entire trumpet section.. Thanks H. Ross Perot...
It makes me very proud to be a former member of a USAF band from 1969-1973. A very Merry Christmas to all my friends and family and to our troops who serve so that all this is possible in the greatest (but not perfect) country.
Being an alumni of the AF bands program (stationed at Wright-Patt Sept '84- Oct '92 & Hanscom Oct '92- Oct '94), this makes me extremely proud to call myself an Air Force musician! Well done Col. Lang & members of the AF DC band. Jerry Smith, tuba Tacoma Concert Band
For inspiration I keep coming back to this incredible presentation at different times during the years since 2013. A GREAT Salute to the Dedicated and Professional Members who gifted us with their wonderful talents!
One of the most Tranquil and peaceful Pieces of music ever Written, my most Favorite. I enjoy This video very much... I am a Air force Vetran. Thank you.
I am moved almost beyond words by this performance! I have to admit that it literally brought tears to my eyes to see and hear such a beautiful rendition by our Air Force Band that gives honor to and recognizes The Lord as King during this Christmas season! I wish I had been there in person and I want to thank Colonel Larry H. Lang, Commander and Conductor, and the members of the Air Force Band for such an awesome and soul stirring performance and video production.
I like how it all started with one lone cellist, and then built from there to the crescendo at the end. I was crying tears of joy and delight by the end. And my salute not only to these fine USAF musicians, but whoever did the arrangement as well. Spot ON :)
As a fellow musician, this is easily summed up for me in one word. LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! Thank you for sharing!
Absolutely beautiful! Lovely piece played well and with feeling. The looks of joy, both on the guests as well as the airmen in the band, is perfection. Thank you for this beautiful interlude. And may all our military be kept safe and soon reunited with those they love.
Thank you Servicemen and Servicewomen -- your sacrifice, as well as your families', does not go unnoticed!! I just hope it keeps being funded. Just look at those decorations -- these folks are not just amazing musicians. They Defend This Nation. God Speed!!
I watch this every year and it puts me in the Christmas spirit every time, and I tear up because its so awesome a performance. Send it someone you love. It will make their day.
Plenty do. From the Air Force Band to the ParaJumpers to the Air Transport Command. Even the boys and girls of the combat wings would prefer a mercy mission to a combat mission.
Have you ever noticed that when a group like this starts playing spontaneously, everybody around starts smiling. When this group starts playing with such beauty, such power, such professionalism people fight to hold back the tears. This music, this band, like the US Navy band, touches people deeply. May God continue to bless this nation with those who would go into harms way for this nation.
The reaction of the children to classical flash mob music always gets to me. They get it right to their innards body and soul.
This is the part of America we can be proud of. Merry Christmas to our military and their families!!
Almost 11 years later, still takes my breath away
After watching this I am extra proud of having been a member of the US Air Force. You guys make me super proud of my service.

It's particularly gratifying to see and hear such beauty coming from America's finest, with Apollo 11 and the "Spirit of St. Louis" in the background.
