I appreciate the in depth review you did here. I really started watching this and then the video went to in depth features and close ups and I watched the entire video without skipping anything. Surely, watching this helps a potential Outback Wilderness buyer to a great extent without any whims and fancies but straight to the point that someone looking for. I feel like I were in the vehicle. Keep up the good work!
Ya that's the idea behind these videos. So a potential buyer can "test drive" the car from their recliner at home
What a jam packed, full of detail with great clear close ups- just what I wanted to see since I am in the market for this... Thanks!!!😀
Glad the video could help
Seriously one of the most detailed and helpful reviews I’ve EVER watched. Seriously great job. Subbed!
I guess when you carry the dog in back you then have 2 woofers. Another well done program. Thanks, peace
Just so you're aware the rear seats do recline, the handle for it is more outboard.
The best review I have seen on the 2024 Outback Wilderness. If you removed the black satin hood decal heating it slightly will help you to removed, it without taking any paint which can happen.
The second lift gate button on the lower left dashboard is actually to set a lower open height. Mine is great for keeping the lift gate from hitting my kayaks when loaded, or hitting low hanging branches. 😊
Thank you for letting me know
Extremely well thought out review I’ve ever seen on YT. Thanks! Like, I would have a question, then right after your review you’d answer it in your next sentence. 100% well done!
Haha! Thank you:)
Ordered 2024 Magnetite Grey due Sept 2024🎉Cincinnati Ohio from the Lafayette Indiana Subaru factory. Dealers need more Wilderness inventory, plenty of Outbacks.
Stohlman has a few wilderness’
Thanks for actually pointing your camera at the sub! No one else does this! Much appreciated.
Weird they updated the front bumper but left the rear with the old styling. So odd. Just awesome that our 2022 OBW runs on regular whilst having a great engine. Very impressed with our car. Latest info update fixed almost all the remaining complaints I had. One thing I wished they did on the wilderness was memory position seating. So frustrating it can't be added on a travel vehicle.
The memory positioning seat would make this the perfect vehicle! Are you listening subaru?
@@sammcneill1268agreed.
Historically speaking Subaru generally doesn’t update the rear bumper in a facelift year. Most manufacturers don’t.
Thank you for being the only reviewer I’ve found to cover the lift gate led lighting 👍
Great video with lots of info! I just bought a 2024 Outback Limited XT! I’m learning how to work all of the goodies!
Congrats on you new ride!
Had to give a thumbs up because i did take away something all the other Outback Wilderness preview videos never mentioned.
That automatic opening rear hatch when you cover the center logo and the door lock feature in the rear hatch panel.
I bought this car and I absolutely love the outback wilderness 2024 rocks
27:18, I thought the way you reclined the seat was by a pull handle.down by the outside hip area not by depressing the button by your outside shoulder. I thought that button was for the ability to drop the back seats forward for more cargo area.
Outback’s are just beautiful cars. As a 2010 outback owner. I love ‘em all
I never really thought about Outbacks before I did videos with them. Now I think they're awesome!
I never thought about them until I was tired of my truck, and SUVs in general
Nothing else like it on the road.
Bro it’s fast and I’m a 59 year old guy that has driven more cars than most of the pups raging on you! This car is fast enough to get you car insurance to outrageous levels or for you to have your license revoked in a month and it’s a off-road wagoner for Pete sake! It’s a great engine and great fun to drive, great in the legacy sport as well . Wish it was in the IMPRESA RS that would kill WRX SALES ESPECIALLY WITH A MANUAL. Hope the Baja will be a reality in showrooms soon with this engine and a manual.
Great tour of the 2024 OBW!! Thank you so much! I’m hoping to get one. Really excited. 😊🤩
Excellent review young man, we really enjoyed this video and you did a great job covering the all the specs on this Outback Wilderness. Very nice to see young people doing something good with their lives other than playing video games all day long. Very proud of you man! 👍
Thank you! I appreciate the very nice comment :)
Thank you! This excellent video was extremely helpful to me as I just purchased one after coming from a 20 yr old Lexus. The tech is mind blowing and the sales person handed me the keys (well not really keys) and did not bother showing me one little thing. So you are my hero!
Haha! Happy the video could help - that’s the goal!
Just found your channel and subscribed. Thanks for pointing out that Suburu are any brand should make the premium sound system an option for us who don’t want the top trim level just to get it.
Great review! You really hit all the ins and out of the vehicle.
I believe the sub woofer, Harmon Kardon system, is new for this refresh. I didn’t have that in my 2022 from what I recall.
This is right, new for 2024 and let me say the HK system is awesome. I had the stock 6 speaker system in my Onyx with upgraded JBLs and the HK is just so much better.
Yesterday I washed my OBW w a power washer and waved it in the wrong place on the rear hatch…it opened.😂 Ah multitasking is fun! Love this vehicle! 😎🥾🥾🐾🐾
Lol
nice that you are showing the car most of the time versus yourself like other youtube car reviewers.
also nice that you are not filming the steering wheel for 5 minutes
I read with the new bumpers on the 2024 Wilderness that the approach and departure angles were improved. Does anyone know how much they were improved?
My first vehicle dude.
The rear passenger seats do recline, the latch is at hip level to the left of you’re sitting behind the driver.
other car brand shortage in chips while Subaru shortage in metals lol !
Thanks for the review! This was great. Did you have a chance to test the new upgraded sound system? If so, did it sound good?
Yes the sound system is good. Much better than last year.
Great video! Does anyone have thoughts on the difference in comfort between the Wilderness drivers seat versus the Touring Napa leather. I was in love with the Touring seats but I really want a Wilderness. Besides leather v Startex, do they feel the same to sit in? Thank you!
I have had both. The leather is comfortable and nice but the Startex is softer and cushier to me. I prefer it over the leather. The leather feels harder if that makes sense. The Startex forms to you better. I do miss the ventilated seats though.
Great review thank you very much I really needed to see this , God Bless 🤗
10:46 great walk about … 2 things I wish Subaru would have done. Get a proper air scoop on the hood instead of the long plumbing, and a larger sunroof option, or full glass top sunroof. It’s a wilderness… let us see the wilderness Subaru. Great reliable vehicle all around though !
Still equipped with the hp, torque and mpg robbing CVT
This is an awesome video. Thank you for being in-depth and clear in your explanations.
Add acoustic side windshield like the XT Limited and Touring, then Memory Seat. I'll buy one instantly!
2 weeks ago, a purchase of a 2023 outback wilderness. So far I seen 3 outback wilderness here, beside my.
I just got my 2024 Outback Wilderness yesterday in black! 🎉
Love the look of the car and got it for camping and all that fun stuff!
I will say the front and rear camera sucks! It’s horrible picture quality.
I don’t like that you can’t change the background display for the driver profile. (I could on my ‘21 Crosstrek)
The visors are oddly thin and I wish there was more cup holder/ storage space in the middle console or the doors!
Camera quality sucks for sure. They need to work on that
I‘d love to have this in Switzerland.. I‘d buy it immediately.
any updates about rtv sealant in oil pan and oil pick up tube? was this addressed by Subaru for 2024?
The back seats do recline. There's a handle at the bottom corner of the seats.
Subscribed. Very comprehensive overview. Liked it!
Omg 703~ I LOVE the white/black Storm Trooper color! If I could make one change it would be for the Outback to have a traditional transmission~ CVTs are just plain weird. Also, can the auto stop/start feature be disabled? I really don't like that feature. Great review & thank you from Las Vegas.
When you come to a stop, just lift your foot slightly off the brake. It does not take much, and the engine won’t cut out. Also, if it does cut out, again, just lift your braking foot and the engine will restart.
Cvt are not a problem. Much better than your conventional auto transmission
Heated wheel, dual heated seat settings in back, new Eyesight system, wireless car play, and harmon kardon sound system... over 2022. Basically all the things that were left off the car due to the pandemic. Outside of all that, I still love my 22 OBW. It's insanely capable.
the 2023 has all of that besides the heated steering wheel and Harmon kardon, no matter the deal any wilderness is a great choice.
I'm seeing more rover & land cruiser DuneBuggy vibe 🇯🇵🇺🇲Amazing vehicle vehicle
Just a small correction at 17:16 Autostop is actually On but not yet ready, when auto stop is Off the icon is Orange
Thank you for letting me know
Yes, at zero RPM's, the motor isn't running. BTW, did he ever open the hood, say, "What motor, mpg?"
The turbo kicks in hard, it’s fast, faster than my Toyota NA 3.5 V6
Great review. Which do you prefer an Onyx XT or Wilderness? I love the style of the Wilderness but the smaller wheels and gas mileage makes me gravitate to the Onyx.
For me, onyx XT. But - the Wilderness is cool too. But it’s going to be at a higher RPM when cruising on the highway due to the lower axle ratio
I just traded a ‘21 Onyx XT for a ‘24 Wilderness - the driving dynamics of the Wilderness are incrementally better, the transmission tuning and lower drive ratio make the car feel lively where the Onyx felt a little “lazy”
I like the Onyx, but no heated steering wheel. 😢
Awesome review. I have owned Subie since 1989. Here in Utah they are like snow mobiles in horrible weather. My wife drives them and we are considering trading in our 2006 & considering the Wilderness.
The Wilderness is a great option if you're a loyal Subie owner
your tacho was doing 1200 rpm at 10 mph and 1200 rpm at 60 mph. Those gears are pretty slick, when you went around the corner and kicked it the tacho barely moved????
Getting this or the 2023 toward the end of the year. Need to save up!!
If you have the remote start and it's winter or colder weather, does the front and rear window defrost as well as a side view mirror defrost, stearing and heated seats come on, when remote starting?
I would assume yes, but im not 100% sure
Rear seats do recline a little
They should widen the black on the hood or remove it all. Also the front bumper cladding should maybe connect to the cladding on the fender. I don't like that bit of white in between the front fender and bumper. Just small nags with the design.
Finally heated steering wheel that should have been in it from the start and Still no heated outside mirrors . Subaru is very weird.
Agreed
comes with heated mirrors in canada
The recliner back seat is on the middle side. My wilderness have it.
Good review 👍. I am glad you said the black glare plastic on the hood can be removed..That should be an option..Everyone is not going off roading ..
Thank you
Well, this would be an odd choice of a vehicle if you were certain to never go off roading
Glare happens on pavement too
Why would you get the wilderness trim if don't plan on off roading?
Nice review, you’re right it looks more like a Jeep, than a wagon, the lift is great, pricey though.
Today on the internet I learned that hexagons are “more aggressive” than just lines.
Whatever tf that means 😆
Just curious,. why they don't change that CVT to a normal transmission. Everything else is pretty nice.
Honestly the CVT on this is pretty good. I would like a regular auto tho..
Did not like the CVT on my 2023 OBW…was awkward at times and by far the weakest point on the car.
Lots, LOTS of Subaru CVTs are being replaced ( mostly on warranty but in a few years you’ll be on your own) and that’s a $9k fix.
So mean to Rover! Woof
Just bought one in black
Great car for light off-road. Greetings
Definitely
Yeah. Still going with the CX-50 Meridian. Can’t trust the CVT, starlink, battery on the Subaru.
The infotainment system looks just as slow, laggy, and unresponsive as the current model. Did it feel any different in person?
It can be laggy when you first fire it up. Once it's up and running though, it's pretty responsive
My son in law bought a new WRX a few years ago . The engine broke in a few weeks . They give him his money back. My daughter bought a new '24 Outback last January in 23. in a few months the transmission broke. They put in a new one and it still did not work properly. They can't fix it and will not give her money back. Fuck Subaru.
The old ones were bulletproof. The newer ones not so much. The CVT tranny is a piece of trash.
Very excited to get mine (although I have to wait until October 😢)
Shoot, that's a long time
@@703Speed I’m in Canada so that might be the reason. There’s no wildernesses available anywhere in BC. But! The bonus is some of the extras you pay for in the US (moonroof etc) are included as standard.
2023 looks better.
How so?
I agree
I agree the 2023 exterior looks better. The 2024 model redid the front without touching the back. So it has a 2024 honeycomb-centric front coupled with the 2023 model backend molding style.
He cute❤
I was so lucky to be able to rent one of these from the Newark airport for two weeks. Some odd things, like every time I started it no matter how hot it was it would idle @ 1500 rpm forever. Also I had to go into settings to enable Bluetooth evertime I got in it. It was fun to drive though.
ECU setting for Direct Injection engine, trying to prevent carbon build up. Pretty standard to idle high like that for a few minutes.
When I bought a brand new Subaru turbo 4x4 wagon in 1987, that company made great cars that were affordable for working people. Today only the elite can get into this game.
Does the forward facing cam also record like a dashcam?
No
@@703Speed That's a bummer. The location of the Eyesight cameras are pretty much where I'd mount a dashcam too. 😕
Really like the new look
Me too
My opinion for the auto stop feature is more for pollution control rather than fuel savings. Also wanted to mention that free oil changes from the dealer to help off set Tesla no oil changes would help. I have a 2013 outback with adaptive cruise and love it.
Have they fixed the piss poor windshield yet? On #10 on our 2017. Only two have been from minor rock hits. The rest have been from spontaneous cracking.
I've heard a few people complain about this. To answer your question - I don't know
When you get it replaced, ask for a pilkington glass replacement (from Safelight). After the first windshield, I swapped for pilkington and 3 yrs later no more cracks.
Subaru blind spot doesn't give much warning. The car next to you almost needs to be at your bumper on my 2023 Crosstrek.
It was pretty good detecting that one vehicle coming fast from aways away
@@703Speed Outback has 4 detectors on bumper, Crosstrek doesn't.
Are they all turbo?
The Wilderness trim level, yes
Nice car, I'd buy one
Water repellent VINYL upholstery
Biggest gripe that I have about my OBW are the potatoe cameras, MPG's are terrible, lane assist is all over the place and piano black that cratches when you looking at it funny way.
RPM gauge aka tachometer
Yup, lol I say that so people who don’t know much about cars understand what I’m sayin
@@703Speed forgive me. I’m an anal auto enthusiast I suppose
It needs a manual transmission
Idk if I see that happening tho
We can forget about Mt. That is so unfortunate. This car with a 6 speed Mt. + a regular key I am buying one yesterday. I finally want to buy a Sub.
The CVT transmission sucks...that makes this car a hard NO for me.
The CVT in this is actually pretty good
IS AUTO OFF DEFEATABLE?
You have to turn it off every time you get in and start the vehicle up
😊👍🏼
my dog will be given to wang hung lo's chinese buffet
Nice and good car but so boring to drive on the road. Smooth suspension, no feeling through the steering and bikes tires. I know, I have one.
It's pretty quick tho
@@703Speed the engine doesn’t fit the suspension.
Those cameras are awful
baja ?????
Wondering if those black cladding would fade over time??
Possibly. Tends on on 15-20 year old vehicles parked in the sun
UV degrades everything. Just like the paint, it needs restoration and protection.
I just ordered this car with black cladding I think it looks amazing. Like one said it can fade over a long period of time but it is on the bottom side so out of the sun a bit. Subaru only charges 320$ for it with installation so not bad if it needed to be redone.
Cvt. Not my type
The 2023 looks WAAAYYY better
Nooooooope
no system? bs
For someone reviewing a vehicle there are quite a few things that u said. “ I think that’s what it is “
Ya, I don’t know everything! Lol
Wow that is not very good looking yikes and way underpowered ?
Looks are subjective and I guess power is too - but in my opinion this is not underpowered by any means. It’s actually quick
Way underpowered? The 0-60 is under 6 seconds.
There’s absolutely no redeeming quality to the auto start/stop feature. None. It’s not a “pretty cool feature.”
I was not a fan of the auto engine stop so got myself an autostop eliminatior that turned it off automatically even after starting the engine.
All youtube reviewes should have their free arm duct taped to their side to keep it off camera.... but great info.
Lol
The Outback is a wagon. It's a shame that everyone, including Subaru, has switched to marketing it as an SUV so that people would buy it.
Also, the brake lights are LED. Turn signals and reverse lights are incandescent.
