I am (at least) old enough to be your mother but, at the same time, want to be you when I grow up. I very much admire your strength, fierceness, independence and humor. While watching this particular video, my heart broke for you when the lights didn't seem to work and I cried right along with you when it turned out that they worked after all. Following your journey has provided me with laughter, joy and inspiration during what has, otherwise, been an incredibly challenging time.

You taught me something here with how the electric system works, something I’ll keep notes for when I get my own van, believe me you’re doing so much more than you realise I know I’m not the only one. and when those lights came on I was so happy for you! Keep at it, it’s coming together so well and you’re doing this all by yourself! Remember to look at old photos of your van at day 1, it’s really costing you blood sweat and tears lol but you’ll be so happy in the end and it’ll be so worth it! I’m looking forward to seeing your vans progress to completion, it’s got cabin vibes already and is looking amazing! Bravo. I am gearing up to buy a van and do a build. I had a RV and hired someone to do repairs and renovation and they destroyed it. I lost about 15K dollars. So, trying to psyche myself into going for a van and doing it myself. I am 60 and have been pretty handy all my life. My only concern is strength. Maybe for some of the heavier things I can find a helper. Your videos are a great source of encouragement for someone who had their dreams of a tiny home smashed. Illl do it myself and if it goes wrong its' all on me. I know the emotion attached with a dream like this. You are doing great.

Girl, you inspire me! Thanks for answering my solar question. I'm 62, I just missed my dream Promaster (here in NC!) because I was 4 hours away and didn't have my financing together. It sold in 2 days - really not a surprise - it was a great deal. Thanks for sharing the mistakes as well as the victories. I'm learning so much from you. I also really like your music, so that has turned me onto a whole new thing.

    WARNING FOR THOSE BUILDING:
5:38 when installing the front frame, please don’t trust glue to support the weight! I followed these steps exactly, and after 3 days in the summer heat the ceiling gave up and fell. I opted instead to remove 3-4in segments of the headliner above the cab where you can see an additional spar to drill into instead. Liquid nail is still a great idea, but I also simply drilled 1x3 planks directly from the the frame near the MaxAir fan directly to the spar above the headliner.
To help visualize it better, I opted to not go horizontal with the 1x3 along the entire front spar, but instead to go parallel with the van directly from the wooden frame behind the MaxxAir fan, to the 3x4in cut outs on the headiner directly into the metal spar with some dabs of liquid nail. This solved the issue of creating support for the ceiling, but WITHOUT removing the headliner.
Thanks so much to Linnea for this great series, this was just one change I thought to bring up

Yes for sure I wish I did the same thing! My ceiling hasn’t fallen or anything, but I can tell that it isn’t holding up like screws would (of course).
Thank you for the time you spent adding this information!

I just found your video and channel while searching for a good description of the ceiling puck lighting. I'm right at the stage of ceiling lighting and ceiling install. You did a great job explaining the process and providing a very simple wiring diagram! In watching the wiring installation, the only suggestion I'd make is to use some wiring mesh or plastic sheathing to protect the wire that's running through the van metal cavities from rubbing and cutting on the metal edges of the van when you're driving. Very helpful video, and thanks!

I just wanted to reach out and say a huge THANK YOU for your videos. My husband and I are about to start our first van build and I have not felt confident in my ability to do this until I watched your videos. You explain things so well and break down your thought process with such humility and perseverance. I am so proud of you for what you’ve accomplished and I cried along with you the moment you flipped the switch (and dimmer!) for the first time to find out your lights worked. Thank you for inspiring me!!!! 💜💪🛠

Omg I just cried with you. Yaaaaay congratulations! This was us last night when we got everything in our van working on the first try 👏🏼 we did a happy dance and I had a tear. Pure joy, elation, and relief right? We knew next to nothing about electrical and spent several weeks researching and learning, ordering things, making wires, and putting it all together! Major confidence boost to have it working! So happy for you 🎉

Really great to see you just take it on. Couple of things to point out. While most of the time people wiring way under size you went the other way! You ran a 15 amp circuit to handle 1.75 amps of load. It's not a problem but the wire is bigger, stiffer and more expensive than what you needed. Also where failures occur is in the connections. You have a lot! The wire taps work but are not the best way for a mobile environment. Learn to solder and heat shrink. Also remember the van is (at least should be to aux batteries like the start battery is) bonded to ground. You could have attached the ground wire using a loop and sheet metal screw the the double wall part of the roof and skipped the long ground wire. I wish you the very best!
