What style ceiling would you choose? Personally, I love how thin and lightweight my tongue and groove boards are - plus the wood grains are really pretty.
Laura, so many RUclips videos are pretty useless as they reflect someone quickly showing themselves doing a project but rarely take the time to “instruct” at a teachable pace. Your detailed explanation is amazing. I have been watching van life videos for four or five years and your videos are superb. Keep up the good work sister!
Coming from a 30 year carpenter and woodworker. You do excellent work and your teaching skills are top notch. Safe travels once you get your van/ home completed.
I so admire the courage you have in tackling, then clearly explaining, every step of every process. Your videos are an incredible resource for my van build; thank you for making them!
I renovated old farm houses in New England for years . I am so impressed by your skill , attention to detail ,patience ,positive attitude and teaching videos . Well Done ! Best of luck down the road !💪👍👍
Lauren, I've been binge watching your build series today, and I must say, after I've built 3 Promaster van builds as a hobby over the last 10 years, you build exactly the same way that I do. You are a smart woman. Rivnuts and Plusnuts are the perfect way to secure your whole van build to the structure of the vehicle. People will pay a high dollar for a nicely done build. I've made considerable money from these builds, you should do the same.
Thanks for the comment! I am so happy I went with plusnuts for the build. I’d love to build another van eventually, but for now I’m enjoying my time traveling :)
I greatly admire your thoughtful approach to your projects. It seems that you’ve pretty well thought out every eventuality you may encounter. Enjoying following your videos and progress. They are well produced and articulated. I noticed in this video you used the correct term of “scribing” to fit boards ! Thank you. I see you “plunge cutting” around that fan. You have some technique knowledge.
This is where I am for my 2018 with 30,000 miles. You have taught me a great deal on the whole build and your videos are very informative and even funny sometimes. You sure do have a quality mindset! Thanks for what you do for all of us!
beautiful and practical and that goes for both you and the van, It is so nice to see a young lady that is confidant and handy, when you lookup independant women there should be a picture of Lauren
Well, have watched all your videos but wish you had kept going and showed the finished van and maybe kept going with your travels! God bless and hope you are now having wonderful travels!!
That was my hope too. I recorded the entire build so I just need to sit down and edit. Follow me on Instagram to see what life on the road is like @LaurenLawliss!
As someone who has been considering this for awhile now with no building experience or someone to teach me - your videos are the first that I've come across that really explain every aspect of what I thought would be my biggest hurdles (electrical, windows, fans, etc.). Makes me feel like I might actually be able to to this by myself! Can't afford to hire a builder or a built-out van, and you also happen to be building my ideal van layout. Thank you so so much for making this seem less daunting and possible! You really covered every detail a beginner would need - down to every piece of material you used. Will be back to replay your videos a million times over haha!
You CAN do it! I appreciate your kind words and am glad you feel more confident to do it yourself. Take your time and enjoy the process. Best of luck🫶🏻
I've considered purchasing a Class B van, but they are so high priced and so cheaply constructed, especially wiring. You have demonstrated to me that I might be able to do this myself with much better quality. You have thought through all of the details so thoroughly. You should be very proud of yourself!
I'm on my 12th van since 1973(!) and I've done interiors all different in each van. I looked at those cedar planks...Tony like! I've watched a number of your videos already. It's clear you plan out your videos to catch the right moments 49:42 blood, sweat, and...tears of joy!
I'm new to your channel, and I love watching build video's. The main reason is that every now and then you witness what I call a little act of genius, like I'd never seen the playdough trick and to make it better, the syringe for putty. Two acts in one video, it could be one in a million. There were a few places where I asked my self why you did one thing in one place but not in another but so far, I'm enjoying the lessons.
Another amazed and admiring fan here. From what I can tell you go from student to master all in the course of each project and have the knack to teach it at a high level.Great way to employ your youth and your talent. Very inspirational as well.Bravo!
I was wondering when you were going to post another video, man, that van might be better built than my 1930s house, its never goona fall down...lol..seriously,you are doing an excellant job,bet you cant wait to hit the road.thanks for sharing and keep up the good work....be blessed
Hahaha thanks. I must say it feels extremely sturdy and doesn’t make a sound when I drive so I am very happy about that lol. I appreciate you watching and commenting☺️
Hi there, I had to say I’m 62 years old and was completely overwhelmed about building out my van. I’ve watched so many RUclips videos and got so overwhelmed. I decided to stick to yours and have followed yours for every step of the way you have made it so easy and understandableand it’s coming along nicely thanks to you thank you so much for your videos. I'm following suit, Your directions with me build. I have watched many people build out their rigs. No one has been more detailed in explaining from the beginning to the end of every step. Hi Lauren, you are such a joy to watch. I am going to start doing my Ducato this winter, and I have you as my guiding light. I know it is a lot of work to video everything you do, but rest assured that a lot of people love you for it. Hope to meet you on the road some day! Love, Stefan.
Hi Stefan! That is so exciting. Wishing you the best of luck on your build, you got this! Thank you for the kind words. It really does mean a lot. I am glad all my time out into recording and editing these videos are helping others💖
You are a very impressive lady! Just love your thought process. Just about to start our build on a 23 Promaster 159 ext and have just started devouring your videos. I've been absorbing all I can and making notes for two years now and there's only a few channels that have the caliber of sharing, tips and hacks that you do. Nice job! Looks like a nice yard and piece of property you're on there! Cheers from the mitten! Dan
Welcome Back. I hope you haven't already installed your heater. I just bought the gasoline heater from VelitCamping (gas, not diesel). Mine is working great and not having to fuss with a second fuel source is so nice. I'd recommend the gasoline heater, if you haven't already installed a heater.
Great to be back! I have installed my heater already and I LOVE IT! It is the Webasto EVO 40 that pulls fuel from my vans gas tank. It also works in high altitudes which I plan on traveling to. I’m glad you found a heater you like too!
Really nice work, you are a natural. We are doing an older van with tons of headroom when I sit crisscross applesauce 😂 but seriously you give me a lot of great ideas and how to build ours smarter and not just slap it together. Thank you 🙏🏻
Put some of the black 3m caulk you used to mount the air apparatus to the top, either to the hole or at the rivnut, (experiment what fits you best) and then install. Let it dry and it will hold far superior weight than the plus nut.
I hope youre doing good Lauren, loved your videos for helping my wife and set up our van while living out of it😅 did you ever end up finishing your build? Would love to see how it turned out!
Hey! I’m doing well, thanks. The van is about 90% done minus some small projects here and there. Been solely focused on traveling for the last 8 months but going to work on some projects soon. Follow me on Instagram for updates from the road and to see the van’s current state ☺️🫶🏻
Hi Ian! Glad you like my videos. I have not made a video on my cabinets yet (with the exception of my bed area’s first phase). I did record it all and hope to share it here one day.
Subscribed a bit ago and this is your 2nd instructional video I'm watching, preparing for my build. You are an awesome inspiration and patient passionate instructor. This is Soo cool. THANXS I AM DOING THIS.
Hey Lauren, Hope your travels are going well! Did you post a how to vid on running pucklights? I may be missing it.. I know there are others out there but your tutorials are on another level lol. Thank you 😊
Hey! I have not posted the puck light video yet but it is the next one in que. The van is 90% done now so I will have videos for every step… once I get then edited 😆
awesome video as always Lauren! i'm doing a promaster conversion too and your videos are always very helpful. thank you for going over the little details as well!
Alright Lauren. Ive seen your build from start to most recent. Im sold! Im sending over my old jeep zj to be "Lawlissed". Great work. Stay well. DC in so cal
Hi Lauren! Really enjoy your videos, enjoy the way you explained as you go along. At 49:44 you brad nailed your finger and you took it well, be very careful it’s easy to get hurt. It could had been worst, I noticed at 42:02, 42:04 and 42:08 while using the circular saw your fingers where to close to the blade. Be careful, GB.
Thanks for watching and commenting! Haha I have really good control over my reactions and fight or flight 😆 Safety is always top of mind but I am human and mistakes do happen.
Love the detailed explanation. Promaster is a Fiat Ducato where I am..your videos are been used as a master reference, so thank you. Quick question Lauren in terms of registration of the vehicle, do you have to do anything (when ready) to change from from a Cargo Van to a Campervan ?
Thank you for watching and commenting! In terms of insurance it changes country to country and state to state. So I’m not comfortable answering this questions with confidence, sorry.
We have the same van as you do and your videos are soooo helpful! Thank you!!! Question: what are the measurements of your cabinets- do you have videos on your cabinets?
I’m glad to hear you find my videos helpful! I have a video out for my bed area which covers the dimensions. In terms of my dresser and kitchen unit, they are 36.5” in height overall, 20” deep and 46.5” in length. I recorded the whole project, but still need to edit the videos for that😊
Did you have to put commercial insurance on your van? I just purchased a Ram Promaster high roof and the vin is showing commercial. If you did not have to insure as a commercial vehicle please let me know the work around! Love your videos. I am using for reference to build mine out.
Thanks for the question. Laws will vary state to state. Personally I did not need to insure it as a commercial vehicle. Once I completed the build I retitled the van as an RV and insured it as such.
What style ceiling would you choose? Personally, I love how thin and lightweight my tongue and groove boards are - plus the wood grains are really pretty.

Thank you!
Nice video! Very thorough 👍👍
Appreciate it🥰
Haha I have really good control over my reactions and fight or flight 😆
Safety is always top of mind but I am human and mistakes do happen.
Nagyon ügyes vagy , szuper lesz az autód !
Thank you!
Its so cute how you doing all this
Thanks
Love the detailed explanation. Promaster is a Fiat Ducato where I am..your videos are been used as a master reference, so thank you. Quick question Lauren in terms of registration of the vehicle, do you have to do anything (when ready) to change from from a Cargo Van to a Campervan ?
Thank you for watching and commenting! In terms of insurance it changes country to country and state to state. So I’m not comfortable answering this questions with confidence, sorry.
These videos are incredible! thank you
Glad you like them!
Another Great Video Again, ( you nailed it ) , and you were funny 😄
Hahaha thank you!
Lauren, are you coming back to make any more videos?
That’s the plan! It’s very time consuming so I’m trying to find a balance because I miss sharing with y’all so much. Stay tuned 🫶🏻💖
I recorded the whole project, but still need to edit the videos for that😊
@@LaurenLawliss thanks!!
Anytime!
Lauren i love your videos and i hope your new video is coming soon.
Thanks for following along. Many more to come… eventually.
Great video, I think the 12 foot boards would have been almost too much for one person to handle. The van is looking great.
That’s a good point. I didn’t think of that haha. Would have definitely struggled with 12 foot boards by myself.
just noticed videos ended a year ago. you should take it back up, you are great at it.
I have the next one in the works, just need to finish it. Thank you!
I'm currently in the process of doing exactly this :-)
That’s great! Good luck.

PLS make a video on how you built your upper cabinets!
I recorded the whole thing! Just need to get it edited. They turned out perfect if I do say so myself😉
❤Thanks your videos are so helpful
Glad you like them!
with your hair up like that you're probably 6'6" :P
thanks for all of the videos literally explaining the 8,000+ things i've been wondering.
Haha yeah, sometimes my high buns touch the ceiling. Glad you have found the videos helpful!
Lauren, the puck video never came lol. Did you at least record it?
Editing it now!
