Carmen! Awesome video! I know what you mean about annoying notes that ruin a perfume. I can’t stand anything that has a petroleum/gasoline smell. That’s a total dealbreaker and I never buy anything with that in it. (Unless it’s a blind buy cheapie from a discount store and there’s no way of knowing beforehand. 🤣)

@@CarmenScentrix UGH Ellis Brooklyn Milk is D-I-S-G-U-S-T-I-N-G! To me it smells like raw eggs and milk. Almost like someone was baking and didn’t bake the product thoroughly. I just can’t stand the smell of eggs or raw milk. I don’t eat them either. Other brands that don’t work for me are Juliette Has A Gun, because all their perfumes smell like petroleum on me and Skylar. And the Pinrose brand. Some indie brands just smell that way on my skin and I don’t know why. Sometimes I feel that way just smelling it from the bottle, but that’s not always the case.

@@CarmenScentrix I think I’ve always been aware but honestly, I’ve never had an issue before. I have always shopped at Sephora for perfume for years and none of the designers gave me an issue. This still holds true today. There weren’t any indie (which I mean non-designer) brands that I knew of in Sephora back in the day. Maybe just Nest and they never gave me a problem back in the day. It may be that my overall pH has changed, I have started eating better/cleaner, have done detoxes, but it may also be that the quality of material has gone down too. I know many of us in the perfume community (RUclipsrs and enthusiasts alike) feel that perfumes are getting super watered down and overall lack the quality they once had. It can also be a raw material that a brand uses in all their perfumes across the board that’s causing the issue. I watch a few channels that either are perfumers or they are invited on a perfume channel and have spoken about that. Which would explain why I don’t do well with an entire brand of perfume. Also fun fact, perfume can smell differently not only depending on the time of year, but also the time of month for women. So not only we may perceive it differently, but our pH changes too. I hate when there’s so many different factors. It’s one of the annoying factors of the sense of smell since it’s not perceived the same way always. 😂
That amo ferragamo is a HUGEEE compliment getter from men and its around $40 for the 3.4 ounce. Literally random guys at work come up to me to tell me how good I smell. 2 wanted me to write it down. I wasn't sure if I liked it at first because I picked up on an almondy smell and I struggle with almond scents. Overtime the smell got better and better and now I adore it! Also it lasts very well surprisingly for a more affordable perfume. I overspray on my clothing of course but that thing projets.
I had chilled out a bit (only a bit) in my purchases but now…I’ve been ramping up again. I gotta ignore these sales online…though I ordered a big bottle (gone through two travels) of vanilla sky this morning on great sale. I picked up that diesel loverdose and one of the Salvatore ferragamos recently too and immediately regretted it (blind buys unfortunately).
Omg I am scared to use up my VIP private show. Its a 'Forever red' kindoff red candy scent. And I never found anything like it ever again. Decluttered prerogative aswell, that one smelled black opiumish to me
I also gave away Forever Red😬 something felt sharp to my nose. Im so sensitive! Lol. Feel free to make an offer on Mercari on VIP and I will accept whatever you offer. Just let me know it's you.
@CarmenScentrix I decluttered (gifted) many 3 months ago and I now have more to declutter. I wish to keep the ones that are just impossible to not smell again for my nose. Separate the likes from the loves. Usually my family receives the gifts and not to say they are bad, just not really call to me anymore.
I had a similar experience with Whiff of Waffle Cone. It smells sweet, and I do get the waffle cone to an extent, but I get something else and it makes it not smell like a fragrance on me. Like, no one is going to be standing near me and say, "You smell amazing, what are you wearing?" It just smells like something weird. Not bad. But not like a perfume. I can't explain it, but if I spend good money on a fragrance I want it to smell like one.
Hey, Carmen! Thanks for the declutter video! Black opium is a stripper perfume- LOL. I always heard that teen boys liked that one 🙊. You could try to layer Gateau de Carnavale by Kyse with Modest Deux, La Nuit Tresor, etc- Idk how that would work. I share the same thoughts about fancy, gardenia bothers me sometimes and I prefer to wear it in the cold cold weather, it cuts through the air beautifully. Spice moon(is that what it's called??) by Pacifica was ok to me but that was it. Have a great day!

Great video and reasoning. I decluttered Prerogative, Private Show, Fancy, and Loverdose Red Kiss for all the same reasons. I haven’t smelled the rest, but am happy I didn’t blind buy them. I have a resinous ingredient that they use and as soon as I smell it, the fragrance is dead to me. 😅 And I cannot handle too much musk, no matter the quality. It is almost an instant headache . I understand why perfumers don’t disclose their full note list, but it would be nice, to eliminate some blind buy fails.
Yes! I wish they would release the notes! No one ever lists IsoEsuper! Even when it's so strong in there. They are perfumers, they must smell if as strongly!

I felt the same about my whif of Waffle Cone, it smelled like burnt rubber to me. I had high hopes for it too.

Yes! Crumb Couture is a well rounded buttery dough perfume. It has a berry and flaky vibe to it as well. I will try that combo, thank you!!
