    At ReDriven, we’ll be taking you through the pros and cons of a huge range of used cars to see how well they’re going now that they’re a few years old, have thousands of kilometres on the clock, and are coming toward the end of their warranty, or maybe don’t have one at all.
    Plus, thanks to our resident mechanic, Jim, you’ll find out what commonly goes wrong with them and what might need to be fixed.
    Most importantly, we want to make ReDriven a voice for the most in-the-know used car experts there are...you guys.. See, you’re the ones that actually buy, live with, love and sometimes unfortunately hate the cars we’ll be reviewing.
    So we want to hear your thoughts. Hit us up in the comments, or on Instagram and Facebook.
    We’d love nothing more than for you to give us as much feedback as possible, so we can make this channel the best it can be.

    As an owner of a Mk1 MR2, it’s nice to see them getting some recognition, they're often forgotten (courtesy of the sleeker mk2)
    But in my opinion the Mk1 makes up for it in the driving side. No traction or stability control, no abs, no power steering, 7750 RPM redline. It provides a real unadulterated driving experience that not many other cars can provide. Yes it’s slow, yes you’ll be beaten at the lights by a kluger not even knowing it’s racing, but as soon as you hit anything with turns, the Mk1 MR2 excels. Plus it’s got pop up headlights for bonus JDM points.
    Close your eyes and you’re Takumi delivering tofu.

    A video on Awesome But Risky cars? Yes please, sir. That's right up my alley.
    No risk = no reward....
    My daily driver is an '02 Alfa 156 GTA which just passed 250,000km last month. I only paid $8500 for it almost 2 years ago, which was less than half the market price at the time (try finding one now for under $35k). I've put 30,000km on the clock in that time.
    Loved every second of it, and so far its been the cheapest of the three V6 Alfas I've owned to maintain. Without doubt the best car I've owned in 35 years, and +20 cars. Also the best looking, most fun, and makes the best noise...

    Nice orange MK2 Escort in the shop. Love watching a Mk2 Ford Escort rally car over here in the UK ripping through a forest section, its back end swinging round a bend with gravel and stones spraying out the back. As long as you are not spectating and standing at the apex of the bend when it goes round and get your teeth knocked out by spraying stones and gravel 😂. Watched a guy get sprayed on a rally section in that very position trying to take pictures many years ago, he kept his teeth though.

    Totally agree that a Euro would be risky. Certainly I wouldn't consider one.
    But why is that? Just spent 5 weeks driving around the UK and Ireland where Euros rule. While cars in the UK are typically younger than in Australia, there's still a few ageing, high mileage Euros getting around; and the roads aren't flooded with European cars clogging up the breakdown lanes or on the backs of recovery vehicles.
    Is it because we don't know how to service them? Is it because their parts are unreasonably expensive in this country. Is it because there's always a specialist independent around the corner over there. Seriously, some brands we wouldn't touch with a barge pole here are considered reliable over there. Young neice has a TT that's been totally reliable and is about to take delivery of S3 S line.
    If I was living there I'd be driving some nice sporty European Estate instead of a boring Toyota SUV.

    I just wanted to say as someone who has owned many a Commodore, VE SS - Cammed and tunes cars..... We recently just bought a Holden Acadia for the wife and man.... Holden failed to advertise that before closing. The engine and gearbox in awd mode is just damn good. It's super responsive, you don't need to floor it to get it going, just a bit of a poke mid throttle and every spot you are, it's ready to go. It just moves gears and what not perfectly. It's the best car/suv in terms of a factory tune I've seen in a while. Sure there are many things to dislike about the car overall, annoying prompts as you drive etc but as a motor/transmission combo ..... Thats what they should have pushed for SS owners over the silly fake commodore.

    Problem is that it's in the UK and hence shipping costs etc. It really is 100% original. She was the second owner, and it replaced a 928S... It was her second, the first being a original 928. Both manuals.
    Frankly I've driven it more than her the past 10 years (she died a few months ago aged 80). It drives brilliantly BTW - last time was a UK road trip in 2019 over 1500 miles. Not rusty as far as I know from my last check but is it really worth it shipping it to Aus?

    Gotta say, your aversion to anything euro at all is starting to grind. The Abarth for example is no more risky than buying an old MR2 or WRX. But because of the ‘scary’ euro badging didn’t get a look in. They are a supremely simple and pretty robust little nugget. I’m on plenty of car groups and Abarth owners have such minimal failures it’s almost absurd (MTA gearboxes notwithstanding). I’d say it’s easily, hands down the next best hot hatch for reliability next to a Honda Type R. I don’t want a ‘risky but awesome’ cars video, I want one that’s fair and balanced about some of the supposedly risky, but actually pretty solid cars. You’ve done a few of those in the past, like BMW I6 models and a few others.

      @mattdebyl8806 Год назад +2

      @@ReDriven Thanks Adam, I look forward to watching it and hearing about the issues. VERY IMPORTANT - Don't gather data for US cars for Australia (and other markets). The US uses the more complex and much less reliable MultiAir engines. NOT the very robust T-Jet. This doesn't just cause issues with the Multiair unit, but with valves and more prone to leaks and more etc. Most people don't even know they use a different engine. No car is without fault that's for sure. However, It is with absolute certainty though that a T-Jet Abarth is going to be a more reliable thing to own than an old WRX. Even the most unicorn examples. Additionally they're almost never driven by dickheads and are usually fastidiously maintained and crap mods are fairly rare. At least here in Australia (other regions is probably quite a different story). The Abarth T-Jet sits below Honda and Suzuki in reliability, but sits above pretty much everything else in the hot hatch realm. It's definitely better (for reliability) than the 'recommended' Hyundai / Kia products, the Fiesta / Focus ST, and certainly Mazda MPS.

      There's a lot of high mileage RRs in the UK. But with so many, there is a strong competitive specialist market, keeping them going at relatively reasonable cost. Believe it or not, RR core hardware is quite durable. Sadly, though, no such market exists in Australia and specialists are restricted mainly to the big cities.

    What do you class as low, average and high Kilometres?

    • @lancegraham7722
      @lancegraham7722 Год назад

      Work on 10k to 20 k a year. If say it's 10 years old and has 200k, could be a better buy than a 20 year old car with 100k.. with age comes issues, but the way I see it, lower kms will always win. So aim for a low km car that has a great service history.

      Yes! This video is fairly misleading. The SMT gearboxes have lots of issues and unlike the representation in the video of ‘spring for the manual’, was never offered here in anything but SMT. Also NOBODY wants to touch them. There’s no specialists and Toyota places don’t want to know. Secondly the pre-facelift all consume copious amounts of oil. Almost all of them are pre facelifted ones because they sold very poorly in the last 2 years on the market. They’re a great little car, but you’d be far better off with one of those ‘scary’ but super reliable euros that you can actually get parts and work done on.

    I think it would be worth it to feature awesome and bit risky cars. Some drivers dont mind it and happy to work on with their cars, especially if they have a full garage with tools to work it. Especially if they are special and willing to spend, why not. There are still community that will help newcomer to this hobby.

    2013-2017 Volvo S60/V60 Polestar is a good shout, although a bit beyond that $20k mark. And I don’t think they’re quite risky enough for your next vid haha. I’ve got one myself here in Australia and it’s the best car I’ve ever owned. Most of them have had more mature owners than your traditional German stuff, a little bit more reliable, packed with safety tech and go like a rocket! I don’t suppose you guys would like to review one?
