    This was by far the most helpful video I've seen on the fan. Wasn't too sure about the value of it so it was nice seeing you compare and contrast it to the cheaper one. Keep up the videos!

    It might not help you, but i have one of the fiamma turbo vents (Cheap one) and installed a DC motor speed controller from amazon for about £4. It allows you to control the speed of the fan / noise. Anyways Great videos, Looking forward to see what's instore.

    Have you had issues with your remote, mine needs batteries replaced literally every couple of days. I think its got something to do with how the screen of the remote stays on when it’s not in use but I don’t know how to fix it

      @@RunningOffGrid i live in southern france so gets a bit warm in summer , what temperatures have you used it where its still keeping the van comfortable? Also i know it 12 volt but does it consume much power and will it run off mains if your plugged in? If this has been answered already just tell me to look at the other comments ;-)

    Great video thank you. I may have missed it when I watched this, but how much solar have you got? Also, when you had the maxi air running during the night, was that all you had running? Did it draw much power from the battery? Yes this was useful. Thanks

    I've tried them all. Maxair is much better than the competition. It's the only one I'd buy again.
    But the controls have a huge design flaw: If you turn the fan off it will close the vent automatically. Okay, you might like that function.
    But you cannot, in one step, simply leave the vent open all day and turn the fan on and off. The vent will always close when you turn the fan off.
    The solution is to turn the fan off and stop the vent as it closes or let it close all the way and then press the button to open it again.
    In other words you can't leave the vent open all day and turn the fan off and on in one simple step. It's more of a procedure.
    Not the end of the world of course, but it uses power and wears the mechanics for no reason at all, greatly reducing the life of the unit.
    It's one of these situations where the thing thinks for you instead of trusting that you can control things yourself.
    Still, it's the only one to buy if you want quiet quality.

    Your MaxxAir Fan presentation was quite nice and in depth
    and at the same time your white cabinets catched my attention
    would love to take the same path on the cabinets, are they from IKEA ?

      Yes you can use the maxair whilst driving, works really well. We often leave it on automatic mode to help regulate the van temperature.

    Hi, thank you for this video, it's really helpful! But there is a further question I've got. How noisy is the hub of the maxxfan while driving?
    Do you hear tue wir turbulences if you go fester in the motorway? I"m from Germany and I use the Van also for my company and sometimes I go fast with it (means more than 130km/h.)
    I would be interrested in your experiences. Best regards Klaus

    • @RunningOffGrid
      @RunningOffGrid  3 года назад +1

      Hello Klaus.
      Our fan is right behind our heads at the front of the van and we have no bulk head. I would say there certainly is some air noise but it doesn't bother us. You can certainly tell it's there though.
      If a concern I would move it back slightly and always have the curtain shut.
      Hope that helps.

    Thanks for the review! Helpful as I’m thinking of getting one or maybe even two. Quick question! Obviously it’s not AC. But can I ask if the fan is any good? There were some really hot days last year and my van was just unbearable! It’s rare in the UK to be that warm but I’m also thinking about going to some warmer countries this year too. Does the fan make a meaningful difference? Can you feel it?

    • @RunningOffGrid
      @RunningOffGrid  2 года назад +2

      Oh yes the fan makes a world of difference we used ours all over Europe last summer. Ideally you want maxxair in the front, vent at the back. Suck with the maxxair and you get a cooling airflow over the bed at night.

    We installed a buck booster converter on installation before watching any of these videos, along with electrical liquid tape on the board. It’s been beeping, going nuts turning on by itself, opening and closing continuously just driving me nuts. Can’t use our fan… By the way, we’ve only had it installed for about 2 months. This is what we get for buying this “Deluxe” vent… Right…. We have 500w solar and two big lithium batteries. Plenty of power for everything, besides this fan? This fan… Agghh… By the way, ours nipped like that at the beginning, we pulled one of the connectors off the board and plugged it in to the other on the board. Not sure if I put it on the wrong connector after applying liquid electrical tape.
    Climate control will never work, but will try. The controller has no backlight…

    Does anyone have the tinted version fitted? Just curious to know if you felt you then needed to get the blackout blind fitted as well? Appreciate I could probably just get the solid white or solid black version but then the outside lid won’t match the others on the van! I know it probably sounds a bit pedantic but just keen to get it right and not wish I’d got a different one! Decisions decisions 😂

    • @RunningOffGrid
      @RunningOffGrid  2 года назад

      Ours lets in some light but we have never felt the need for a blind. However if it was directly above the bed I would wish for one I suspect.

    My salary must be shit, because that seems very expensive to me! I wanted to fit a Maxair fan in the middle and a skylight over my bed but the price for each is about the same, so that's
    a total of close to 600 pounds, that's my food bill for a few months of van life... What am I doing wrong....

    I've just bought a van and it's wooden panelled like yours but he didn't fit any vents and I find the van too hot with this recent scorching weather we've had. Could I fit something like this still? Or do they need to be done prior to panelling? Many thanks

    • @RunningOffGrid
      @RunningOffGrid  3 года назад

      Difficult to know but I suspect it would be difficult. Potentially not impossible though, recommend speaking to someone who fits professionally and see what they think. You need some kind of ventilation. Do you have windows?

    • @noodle6754
      @noodle6754 3 года назад

      @@RunningOffGrid Ok thanks so much and no windows in the back at all, it's a stealth van apparently. I did toy with a window in the sliding door and the MaxxFan in the roof but don't like the thought of having the window open during the night so I like the idea in this video. Floor vent and ceiling fan :-)
