I see a lot of people love the way Majima handled a difficult customer and was a total class act while doing it, but what I really appreciate is how well he manipulated the situation. Yeah Majima could’ve just mopped the floor with the dude, or hell, do what he did and just let the guy get arrested. But instead, he used his social standing against him. Revealing the guy’s name and that he’s a big shot in a pharmaceutical company, assured that everyone would know who he was and how he got kicked out of a club for causing trouble and almost got arrested, tarnishing his business reputation. But pressuring him with that possibility and allowing him to “make amends” gave him an out and in the end, makes him seem like a genuinely remorseful guy who wanted to make things right. And there’s the twist. By offering to pay everyone’s tab, Majima not only guaranteed payment from a corporate official, he also freed up everyone else to spend as much as they liked that night, since hey it wasn’t gonna be out of their own pocket, encouraging them to spend even more. In the end, everyone spends more, has an AMAZING night on someone else’s budget and the club gets a reputation for being well run and exciting, while also doubling as a very subtle extortion racket. Sure on the surface he seems like the world’s greatest manager, but underneath he is a master manipulator. And I still adore the man!
Especially because he makes it sound like a lot of money but.... we're talking an entire evening's drinks for a lot of people and as you say, more drinks than normal. And these likely aren't your 10$ beers, these are likely the 300$+ bottles of wine and such. This guy is likely to go broke and guess who he's going to owe that money too. You wanna bet that he's a loan shark?
I think what's just as amazing is what Majima, The Mad Dog of Shimano previously meant to fans of the series and how his character was perfectly subverted. Under immense pressure, he is the man who can perform acts of genius exactly like you've mentioned, but it's only through his character arc that he turns himself into a new man, with a new set of ideals.
Notice how Majima-san presented his card to the man properly with two hands supporting it and when he lifts the man's card off him he holds it disrespectfully like a dead goldfish he's about to flush down the toilet.
@@edcellwarrior Funny thing now that you mentioned it, I've seen a Japanese comedy movie where it was a typical group of good guys were being chased by some bad guys. When the good guys were passing by a couple of businessmen, one of them recognized one of the good guys and in turn said good guy recognized the business person and they both stopped to exchange cards, prompting everyone, including the bad guys to stop to let them do it as the leader of the bad guys said, "Exchanging business cards between salary men is a sacred ritual. This is one of the best character introduction in gaming, especially considering that this is a game with 2 main characters, all that build up to Majima, a yakuza looking guy, expecting that he will beat that drunk, but its nothing that you would've expected, the first time that i saw this, totally felt in love with Majima character, and this is the moment i was completly enganged with the game
I kinda wish Majima fought like this more in the game, it makes sense considering his character that he becomes unhinged with a rabid fighting style later on, but having a calm and composed Majima fighting like he does in the intro would be really cool, that and Yakuza 0 has been and currently is my first Yakuza game.
i bought yakuza 0 on steam for 5 dollars on sale, just to try it, and i do very little single player games nowadays. 3 days i'm playing and well, i could consider this
I saw this cutscene and my first thought afterwards was *KIRYU WHO?!* Because seriously, I completely forgot the game also stars Kiryu, this game is Majima's game. This was an AMAZING introduction to Majima
I still remember when I first saw this a year or so ago. Good times then. Good times now. This is how you really introduce a strong protagonist in a game with such a dramatic tone shift in the mid game.
This scene is why I bought the game. I didn't see the gameplay though. I love dodging around enemies who make a fool of themself. It helps due to the fact that it shows Kiryu and Majima even in their prequel had a very different way of operating from each other.
The story is absolutely outstanding. I had a blast, and I'm still playing Yakuza 0 with 112 hours to complete everything and then play on Legend difficulty.
I've played Yakuza since the English dubbed PS2 days. Imagine how flabbergasted I was when I saw Majima like this here, when Majima to me had always been that crazy one-eyed dude with a knife.
Majima is what every single customer service worker strives to be. Absolutely immaculate in their craft, but will not give a single ounce of leeway. He will even get on his knees an beg not only to his customers, but to the problem customer as well. Something a major employer would never do, but would benefit far more than they know with.
God, Majima's such a good and like.. deep character. It's really sad how they handle him in 6 and 7. Even in 5 they kinda start showing signs of not knowing what to do with him. By 7 its like "Ok, wtf do we do with this leather clad old man."
5? Have you played the game? 5 majima like gave himself for haruka's safety, like i don't know what you are talking about? In 6 he's behind the bars In 7 is ichiban's story, i don't know why they need to bring him up?
For the love of god Give Goro Majima His Own Game! His goofy antics and brutal fighting style fits perfectly with this series! yakuza 0 wasn’t enough we want a majima saga
He's actually not a psycho at all. It's all an act. Well, ok, maybe he is a little psychopathic (due to getting tortured), but he's still the same Majima as in Y0. He just realized that he was getting used by everyone, so he got fed up and decided to be intimidating, so that noone will mess with him anymore. As the series goes on, Majima starts showing more of his real personality again.
@@Incog2k6 Its not entirely an act and he is actualy being genuine. The entire point of him breaking out of his cage and doing what he wants.. The majima of the intro is the one acting. Also normal and sane people dont do what he does.

Who know maybe someone should ask Mark Hamill to voice this intro
David Timmer mark did say he would definitely voice joker if kevin was in it.
@@MattRogan28 unlikely, he doesn't even remember to have voiced Majima in the original Yakuza, and he didn't even do that good of a job imo, he put too much Joker in it, but maybe it'll be different
"The art of fighting without fighting."
Majima you can be a crazy psychopath sometimes but damn I like your style! :D
This was before he became a crazy psychopath.
@@pandaqtv even then it’s an alter ego as a coverup for his actual psychological issues regarding depression. Man’s lost a lot in his life and he doesn’t wanna drag anyone he makes friends with down or lose anybody. So he adopted the mad dog persona in order for people to naturally sustain from him. His only real friends are just other legendary yakuza or just kiryu because they can actually defend themselves and be alright.
Man, I wished I was sublime like Majima. Dude's slicker than everything, and still can kick ass with a pose. I really don't know if I'd rether be Majima or Kiryu, both brilliant characters.
“Do not interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.”
7:12 Majima is against cancel culture.
That's what I came for
molesting a girl is just a basic mistake nowadays? If Majima hadn’t stepped in god knows how far he would’ve went. I’m sorry but you people & your insistence that cancel culture is ALWAYS bad is putting more people in danger than you realize.
@@sakuraogami6885 you are right but cancel culture has become something that doesn't even let a person redeem themself.
Cancel culture main objective is to ruin a person's life
@@Clever_man5 so you’re saying that a man who has molested & who wanted to rape a woman is redeemable? I mean....fuck.
Aside from that....People don’t change & don’t WANT to as often as you think they do. Some things are irredeemable. & if you don’t want your life “ruined” don’t do terrible things. Don’t be a bad person. It’s so easy.
Don’t be so naive & overly optimistic. It won’t do you any good.
@@sakuraogami6885 I think if it’s something extreme, like what the guy in this video did, it’s irredeemable. But something like saying the N-Word is surely recoverable, at least on some sort of scale.
Just saw this cutscene, this has to be the best introduction to a character I’ve ever seen
Hey man is Yakuza 0 still your first Yakyza game? Or have you got that time machine up and running?
this scene made me buy my first yakuza (yakuza 0) and now i got them all
Bro in in the same road!
i bought yakuza 0 on steam for 5 dollars on sale, just to try it, and i do very little single player games nowadays. 3 days i'm playing and well, i could consider this
I'm on the same path lmao
4:30- I have found the source of the "Why do I suddenly hear Boss Music?!" meme!
I saw this cutscene and my first thought afterwards was
*KIRYU WHO?!*
Because seriously, I completely forgot the game also stars Kiryu, this game is Majima's game. This was an AMAZING introduction to Majima
I still remember when I first saw this a year or so ago. Good times then. Good times now.
This is how you really introduce a strong protagonist in a game with such a dramatic tone shift in the mid game.
Now that's how you manage an establishment. 👍🏻
There are two things I’m grateful for:
1. This being on steam sale
2. Me playing this game first, it made my enjoyment of this series so much better
I would deadass start playing this because of him only
@Ka1ne Not counting if you do side quests, Or if you play it properly and do EVERYTHING before you are even halfway done the game.
One of the best character introductions in all of gaming
Not just gaming, this is one of the best character introductions of any form of media.
10 minutes long.
Absolutely worth every second.
Ikr I like Kiryu but Majima steal the show in this game
I can only imagine veterans to the franchise watching this scene while knowing how he behaves throughout the series.
And first place for best husbando goes too...
MAD DOG OF SHIMANO, TOJO CLAN SHIMANO FAMILY CAPTAIN, LORD OF THE NIGHT, AKA GORO MAJIMA!! 🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️
Majima is what every single customer service worker strives to be. Absolutely immaculate in their craft, but will not give a single ounce of leeway. He will even get on his knees an beg not only to his customers, but to the problem customer as well. Something a major employer would never do, but would benefit far more than they know with.
I just finished this part like 2 weeks ago and I still think about it occasionally. Such an amazing introduction to an amazing character.
God, Majima's such a good and like.. deep character. It's really sad how they handle him in 6 and 7. Even in 5 they kinda start showing signs of not knowing what to do with him. By 7 its like "Ok, wtf do we do with this leather clad old man."
Maybe they'll do something with him seeing how at the end of 7, he, along with Daigo and Saejima will be 'going legit' back in Sotenbori.
5? Have you played the game? 5 majima like gave himself for haruka's safety, like i don't know what you are talking about?
In 6 he's behind the bars
In 7 is ichiban's story, i don't know why they need to bring him up?
He took my heart in this scene and I don't want it back ❤
Its even more humiliating then getting your ass beat he's styling on you the whole time and doesn't even throw a blow
He, quite literally, just got served.
With style 😁🔥

For the love of god Give Goro Majima His Own Game! His goofy antics and brutal fighting style fits perfectly with this series! yakuza 0 wasn’t enough we want a majima saga
"He's just batshit crazy"
This is , hands down, the best character intro for any game ever in any genre or platform. I dare anyone to beat it.
is this before majima became that psycho we all know and love
Yup 💕
@@kircherry when i played zero i missed him shout KIRYU-CHAN everytime you where near him
He's actually not a psycho at all.
@Bolt Thunder
They left it deliberately for the most badass legendary epilogue.
@@Incog2k6 Its not entirely an act and he is actualy being genuine. The entire point of him breaking out of his cage and doing what he wants.. The majima of the intro is the one acting. Also normal and sane people dont do what he does.
Majima is a national treasure
one of the best scenes in videogames history
Incredibly well done by Sega
I have not played a single Yakuza game, but I love him so much.
_* Jazz Music Stops *_
This was the most entertaining 10min and 13sec of my day, didn’t skip a single part I was that enticed.
Deadass, I forgot who Kiryu was after this intro. I was purely invested in Majima afterwards and got confused when the game switched back to Kiryu after chapter 4.
Kiryu isn't bad, it's just that Majima outshined him in forms of presentation and story.
Watched this scene for the first time today, finishing Chapter Two and knowing that it was time to play as Majima...
I was not expecting one of the best introductions I’ve ever seen, wow what a badass.
I keep remembering this Majima while playing Kiwami and I’m sxared
The moment when you realized what showing your hospitality really is, lol
Me: I am an aromantic asexua-
*Majima appears*
Me: Actually nevermind.......
SAME OMFG
Same, but I can't like bc I don't wanna destroy the 69 likes haha
this is such a brilliant introduction to majima even for people who started with 0. he's a mean and tough little goon but he's also shockingly intelligent and charismatic. i love him
This sold me the entire franchise.
If you’re someone who played the first 5 games, and then immediately played 0, I imagine that you were baffled when you first saw this version of Majima during his introduction.
I might be a minority with this opinion but I prefer the calm collected and meneacing demeanour of majima san than the mad dog personality.
all these years later, this is still the coolest thing i've ever seen in a video game.
Maji has "How to win friends and influence people" written all over him XD and his eye patch. An eye patch is my turn on at all times, but this is on a whole different level XD
Come on That was epic right guys?! Lol
TheMasterMI6 yeah after all the trouble he just managed to make the night for everyone and make himself look good while taking advantage of the guy. Lol that was awesome tho
I think at some point Majima totally stole the show of that serie. XD Totally my favorite character in the Yakuza serie. :P
MrKobi247
No, that was beyond epic
It was legendary
That was having to roll for disadvantage and getting a 19
@@partialbullet2215 no way, that was rolling double nat 20
Hawwwlucha
You can roll the same number twice?
I'd go to that caberet, if not to see Majima, then for that band.
Literally the most elegant intro i've ever seen in a game
To quote Fenneko from Aggrettsuko, Majima's "Chill Game is something to behold."
First time I saw this scene I just ended up absolutely in awe and I started to clap my hands loudly. Now that I watched it again I still get excited. I could watch it again and again and I would still have the same feelings. Majima has an incredible charme, on me for sure 😌
My ovaries exploded when I saw this
Majima treated this bastard better than he actually deserved. I love him so much!💓
Straight up one of the greatest character introductions of all time in any work of fiction.
When you put all your stat points on agility and charisma.
Just bled that fucking guy dry and made him feel like he was being a hero for it, god I love Majima. Young or old, he's always a treat when he's on screen.
El primer video que veo del 2021...y no pienso que haya mejor manera de empezar un año que viendo a Majima 😍, hasta ahora es uno de los mejores años de mi vida 👌
Saludos.
Que bueno que este año te ha tratado bien 😆 espero siga así!
My favorite part about yakuza is that at the end of the day they're people playing a role, and they do everything they can to make it clear. It builds the story so well
This is what Karen freak outs would look like if the employees where allowed to mess with them.
This scene is basically Karen vs the manager anime addition
And that was my intro to Goro Majima, now I'm playing the rest of the games, this guy is my favorite character in the yakuza series. Shame I got to play him just in 0 and briefly in 2. Still, kiryu's and goro's dynamic is amazing
I just witnessed this scene, I started yakuza 0 last week. Totally blown away, I'm literally speechless. What an intro
Im starting y0 recently and just got to this scene today my tummy hurts i feel ill and feverish because it was so good i had to sit there and pause after it finished...i feel i was enlightened with divine wisdom i had to fan myself a little even... Incredible... That was really THE intro
This scene alone brings Majima into the position of best Yakuza character, and Yakuza 0 into that of one of the best games of all time.
He's the definition of "kill them with kindness".
This is the most badass thing I ever watched
The true power of service industry employees.
If Marvel and DC Universe were being like Majima, then there would be no main villains.
4:38 I can’t be the only one who thought this bit sounded like a Pokemon battle theme
Majima is such a good and complex character. I reeallllyyy hope we get to see more of his back story ):
This was my first Yakuza game and when I first saw this scene i thought he was gonna be the main villain of the game and that this was one of those things where it shows the protagonist and antagonist different perspectives.
