I just replaced my drivers side headlight assembly using the steps in this video. You did an excellent job of explaining how to take the front bumper off and this made the headlight assembly change a breeze. Thank you for your efforts!
You saved me $400 in dealership labor. Easy to follow and the job was done in 45 minutes and not the “overnight” 4 hour job quoted by the dealership. Thank you!!
Great video, it helped me out alot replacing my 2012 WK2 HID Headlights. I'm not use to working on newer vehicles with plastic bumpers. This was my first plastic bumper that i've R&R. Thank you very much for posting this video.
Your welcome. They arent that hard once you do it.....too many people assume there are alot of steps and it takes a long time but typically less then 15mins to have it off. Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching. Make sure to subscribe.
I love your videos. I appreciate that you take the time to make them as I have all Mopar vehicles and I've put your videos to good use. You're a big help! Take care.
Dave, I wish there was a SUPER LIKE BUTTON or a LOVE BUTTON for this video. This is the simplest and the absolute BEST instruction I have found for removing the front bumper. Thank you so much! Do you still accept emails regarding MOPAR vehicles? If you do then I've got some questions for you. Thank you, Jeremy
Thanks for the comments. I do accept emails but it’s hard to answer them all due to lack of time. Most dont get answered let alone comments such as these unless I have some free moments. I try but I get about 100 comments and emails a day at this point
This video was great. Thank you for that. The only downside is that it didn't have a re-inetsllation sequence. Neither does the instruction sheet that came with my tow bracket kit. The tow bracket kit instructions were nowhere as good as this video, not by a long shot. So, again, thanks for such a great video.
In order to replace the hood latch on my 2013 Grand Cherokee I've gotta do this removal - my only wish is that there were a video showing the replacement of all the removed parts 👍🏻
Need to remove rocker molding that runs from the front wheel well to the back. But it has plastic tabs that are part of it. How do I remove without breaking any of the plastic tabs
I'm going to attempt to remove and replace my front bumper in my 2013 GC. Do you know where I could get replacement plastic rivets for the wheel well that you mention at 1:23? Amazon has some kits with the most common sizes but I want to make sure I get the correct one.
I have what is probably a silly question on the reinstall portion - for the plastic rivets that you drilled out, do you just use new ones to replace (if so, what is the part number?) or do you leave those out when reinstalling? Also, drilling does look to be fairly easy, but just in case, is there an alternate way to do this? Im a little afraid of being slightly off and damaging something.
You can pic up the plastic rivets at any local parts store. You will need a plastic rivet tool to install them as well. Here is a link to my amazon store that shows the tool......go to the body tool section and there it will be: astore.amazon.com/motorcitymechanic-20 . Otherwise drilling is the best method unless you can knock the center out of the rivet. Usually thats hard to do so drilling is the best method. Have no worries and take your time....you wont have any issues. Thanks for the question and make sure to subscribe
Hello i have a 2012 srt8-jeep and under my headlight the bumper cover is sticking out but from watching your video i didn't see any clips or anything holding the bumper under the headlight. I've tried pushing it in but it doesn't seem to do anything. Any suggestions and would i have to take the whole bumper off to fix? apparently it's a common problem with this model
can you tell me if i need to take the front bumper off to replace the headlight in the passanger side. thank you. love your work. hello from germany. happy new year
You can pick up the plastic rivots at any local auto parts store. Thanks for the question and for taking the time to watch the video. Make sure to subscribe!
hi, I removed the bumper and grill since I had to install a grill insert after a bird hit my Jeep. I was able to reinstall everything however on the passenger side there seems to be a single clip that won't snap in. nothing seems to be broken just when you push the bumper in it doesn't stay in. I'm talking about right between the grill and the headlight. it's a pretty small gap but it's annoying me. is there anything I can do?
Hey Mario....you might have to take it back off and take a closer look to see why it might not be sitting in place correctly. Something might not be lined up right or something might have broke during the removal. Thanks for the question and for watching. Make sure to subscribe and check out my other videos.
About the only place I know is the dealer.....I am sure they would have to order them. Otherwise you might be able to check your local auto parts store.....they do carry an assortment of fasteners for different cars. Thanks for the question and make sure to subscribe.
Not 100% sure. I would think it would but never tried it myself and never checked into it on line to see if someone posted in the forums. I am curious myself. Thanks for the question. Make sure to subscribe
I got a large deep scratch on my 2012 grill, body shop wants 800 for a new grill. I see replacements for 175. Considering attempting this based on your video, is it reasonable to try this without a lift? Also the Amazon store link for your store below doesn’t seem to work. Thoughts on where to get tool and rivets?
I havent researched it to find out. I know on the Durango you can for sure. I would think yes on the Grand Cherokee but I dont want to tell you yes and then be wrong.
Thanks for posting this! This will definitely help for me to take off the bumper and diagnose what clips or hardware is keeping my 2013 JGC front bumper cover affixed to the front quarter panel. An airborne cone hit my jeep while on the highway and I can't seem to push my bumper cover all the way back in and to me it looks like it's bc there were plastic clips attaching it? I wish I could post a pic of the holes I see where I think these would be. Any guidance you can offer?
Excellent video! Quick question. I have a WK2 2012 Grand Cherokee Limited (with headlamp washers) I have to replace the washer bottle that as cracked. I assume I need to remove the front bumber cover to replace this reservoir - which I can now do - thanks to your video. Are there any other tips or pitfalls to look out for when completing this task? Huge Thanks
How do you replace those rivets you drilled out I have a 2013 and am going to put a hidden winch and am planning ahead all extra parts I’ll need do you need a special rivet gun and where do ya get them thanks great video
The plastic rivots use a plastic rivot gun which is different from the ones we are use to when using metal rivots. Most auto parts stores and Harbor Freight sell them along with the rivots. Thanks for asking and for the comment about the video. Make sure to subscribe.
that is an excellent job done. i have grand cherokee jeep 2000 model and i want to purchase and install LED light in the old head light just as you did. Am in Ghana. How an where do i get one, Any help so i can purchase online?
I wish I could help you but I dont know of any places to order any.....havent installed or replaced any as of yet. Thanks for asking and sorry I cant be of any help. Make sure to subscribe.
My car bumper looks really bad. The whole bumper came off and it can't be repaired. I ordered a bumper cover but idk anything about putting it on without a bumper or if that's even possible.
So that I fully understand.....the plastic bumper cover was damaged and came off and you ordered another. If thats the case then you should be able to reinstall the new one with no issues unless there is more damage such as the places where the cover snaps on. It might be one of those things that require looking at it in order for me to get a full understanding and then see whats needed. Sometimes only so much can be spoken in just words on a screen such as this.
I don't know for sure. I would have to think that all the mounting locations would be the same. I just haven't come across any info on that yet or done it myself. Like I said.....I don't see why not but cant be 100% sure. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe
If it was 4wd then I would check all the mounts including the front differential. Also there is a procedure call a "quick learn" that is recommend after servicing the trans that helps make the shifts softer, it requires a scanner to do it however
I dont know for sure. I dont see why not but I cant be 100% sure. I do believe that the wiring will be different. I havent done the swap myself but I am curious as well. Thanks for asking and for watching. Make sure to subscribe.
I have had my adaptive cruise control sensor bracket plugs push through when off road. I now understand the 2011 version has been replaced so need to buy a whole new assembly here in Australia for about 500$ plus installation. have you got any other ideas? Is there an easy way to get at the mounting plate or do you have to remove the front bumper? thaight@nltinc.com.au thanks !
I havent had to replace one on that vehicle as of yet. One important item to keep in mind is that it has to be calibrated at the dealer. There is a special set up that they have to use to make sure its set properly. It can include test driving with the scanner and using a special test. The other is a tri-pod set and special board and manual adjustments made. All the above require visiting the dealership. The service information does mention removing the bumper cover. It does say to unsnap and remove the trim that goes around the sensor and then you have access to the assembly. I havent heard of any changes in the bracket but as I mentioned.....I havent had to replace one on that vehicle as of yet
I just replaced my drivers side headlight assembly using the steps in this video. You did an excellent job of explaining how to take the front bumper off and this made the headlight assembly change a breeze. Thank you for your efforts!

I have to do the same, I hope it's not too bad...
@@gheralbraga7555 how did it go? Must be something faulty with that drivers side light unit. Fucking annoying. Have to do mine today
You saved me $400 in dealership labor. Easy to follow and the job was done in 45 minutes and not the “overnight” 4 hour job quoted by the dealership. Thank you!!

Awesome! Glad it all went well
Ugh, you are my hero. I followed this step-by-step and got my grill apart without a single hitch. Thank you!!!

Thanks one of the best channels on RUclips
Seriously thanks for posting this, saved me time and 500 dollars
You are very welcome. Thanks for watching and for the comment.
Changing the headlamps. I did this before, here for a reminder! Thanks MCM!
Just what I was looking for. I have to replace the ballast on both headlights so this will make the job much easier. Great step by step video. Thanks.
I guess it's kind of randomly asking but does anyone know a good website to watch new series online ?
@Jakob Joshua lately I have been using flixzone. You can find it by googling =)
@Ignacio Ibrahim Yea, I've been using FlixZone for months myself :D
@Ignacio Ibrahim thanks, I signed up and it seems like a nice service :D I really appreciate it !!
@Jakob Joshua glad I could help :D
Nice step by step very concise I need that going to respray my grill black and needed this. I appreciate you

Thanks Helen for those very kind words!

I seen motor city an thought you guys were out here in Detroit!
Wow! Exceptional video, thank you!
Question, there are just clips holding that bumper to the 1/4 panel? You didn't show what the bumper is 'clipped" into..
+RoadTripVidz Actually they are not clips....there are cut outs/notches on the bumper cover that snap into a track just below the fender edge.
MotorCity Mechanic appreciate the quick reply
+RoadTripVidz Your welcome. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe
MotorCity Mechanic keep doing wk2 videos!!

What about replacing the plastic rivets? So you replace them or leave them off?
Thanks for the video… I will be replacing my unit July 4th
Where do they sell the non-reusable pins for the finder-well liner?
You can pick up the plastic rivots at any local auto parts store. Thanks for the question and for taking the time to watch the video. Make sure to subscribe!
Thank you, getting ready to do mine.
I used your video today, thank you.
I've got some water sprays inside the fender

How about posting a video on how to remove the fenders of a 2011-2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo.
Thats nothing that I ever get to do.....we have a body shop and they handle those repairs so its not something I will be filming. Sorry
Where can I get replacements for the grille fastener clips that go into the radiator support?
About the only place I know is the dealer.....I am sure they would have to order them. Otherwise you might be able to check your local auto parts store.....they do carry an assortment of fasteners for different cars. Thanks for the question and make sure to subscribe.

Can the front clip of a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee be swapped for a 2014-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo.?
I havent researched it to find out. I know on the Durango you can for sure. I would think yes on the Grand Cherokee but I dont want to tell you yes and then be wrong.

What kind of other types of rims would fit my Jeep Grand Cherokee 2013.?
I dont know what will work other then saying that a Durango will swap over with no issues. Thats the only items I can tell you that I know will work.
Good job!
Great job!
what did u use to get the plastic rivets out? how many are there? and are they reusable? not sure what a rivet is lol

Of course you can, What is your question?
